The New Brushless HBX caught me by surprise! It's not the fastest 1/16 RC car out there, but it is the right amount of power for this little thing! Certainly will give the Xinlehong Q901 Q902 a run for it's money. One of the best 1/16 Scale RC cars you can get for the money. Although I still think the WLtoys 144001 is still the best cheap rc at the moment.
Slightly bigger than the HBX Rampage, but in my opinion, this is better than the Rampage also.

another fun little Haiboxing, the 2188B 4WD (no diffs) drift car. full suspension with friction type dampers but they do what they're supposed to, it doesn't bounce around like a puppy.
first impression was "are you kidding me?" because it was pretty wimpy, there's a power selector top of transmitter, switched it to high "oh hey now!". 1/18 scale drift car just over 1/4 the size of a 1/10 scale while doing it all really similarly, powered by a little 180 motor. found it in eBay RTR for 45 bucks, about perfect for any larger smooth floored room.
A huge thumbs up to you, Phil, this little HBX is really all it promised to be and more! 👍👏

This is the first hobby grade rc I bought. The only one I can afford... Now I have 4 lol. Only 1 is brushless. Great fun though 👌 loved the vid!

Big respect to HBX for their honest speed claim - other manufacturers please take note! Having said that, whoever decided to fit pogo shocks to such a quick truck needs their parking space re-allocated to the janitor...

I don't understand why they don't just up the price 15-30$ for some decent oil filled shocks. I think people would be happy to pay the little bit more for a truck that is actually dampened.

Meanwhile, on the "hobby grade" side of the tracks, Tamiya are still somehow getting away with supplying nylon bushes and "friction damped" shocks while maintaining their reputation as a high quality manufacturer...
@@Del350K4 I agree with you on tamiya! I always looked at them as having great models and detail but were really cheaply made. Its almost like they are still in the 90s. Its like they are hobby grade price but toy grade materials. I think they succeed off of nostalgia. Sorta how all these die hard traxxas lovers are blind to the fact of the outdated platforms and high dollar price tags. People grew up on them so they refuse to see the bad in front of them.

I bought the nuoke 1/16 brushless. Same thing. After oil filled shocks its well worth the money and i beat the crap out of it. Durable ..quick

Just ordered one of these to get me back in to bashing ...... what battery and charger combo would you recommend to reduce charge time and increase run time ? I am new to all this always had nitro cars in the past so I’m clueless

Got my HBX today, WOW what a brillliant fun truck, straight out with it and the Lion batt had power in it, flying down the street.I have about 7 small lipo's I can use in the truck so can be really running constantly if I want to, the provided Lithium Ion produces good power too. I also strap in a bigger standard Lipo of 2200mah with an external strap, really rockets on this.I thought it was fast then noticed my throttle trim was on about half, so bang turned it straight up, and the thing went like a missile.Way faster and more fun than my drift car.The BEST r/c car I have ever owned easily, looks and feels more like a £100 truck.So a real bargain at £65. Give it reverse then full power and it wheelies, or full power out of a turn and another wheelie!!! Quality product, I love it.

I’ve only Belvedere purchased hobby grade rc’s that my local shop has parts for. Are there any compatible parts from any traxxas or Arma ???
Are the parts from the brushless (driveshafts/diffs etc) the same as the brushed version?
And do you know if this is a similar truck as the Xinlehong 9136 (brushed) and Q901 (brushless)?
Really like your approach to RC, not just bashing and going tot the moon with the cars, but enough information for a rookie like me to understand the like or dislike of these rc cars/models.

Cheers for the kind words. This is the same platform as the other video you commented on. So yes, some differences between brushed and brushless. As for similar to the 9136 and Q901.... yes similar, but not quite the same. All of them are good...but they all need Oil shocks 👍

Nice review gov, any thoughts on comparing this to the 144001 or the A959B? That steering servo looks good and I'm liking the brushless, but, why didn't they go 540 size? Maybe too much for the plastic gearing? Your input as usual is highly appreciated.
They went for 550 brushed motor. Probably so they can keep the car under $100. So far, only the spurs gear is plastic but it still has 5 wires servo.

Good one. Nope, the transmitter is the old standard HBX - so more usual than the new ones ;-) I haven't seen other brands use it. It is the one I got in 2013 with my first HBX, just in a upgraded version with dual rate I think.

What size servo would you need to put in this? If you wanted to upgrade. I got basically the same one, just rebranded and the servo is definitely not nearly as good as what it looked like for you. It's pretty pathetic actually.

I have a problem with my hbx16889a pro, I bought it new and when I raise the car and give gas and release with the car in hand, or raised it makes a noise as if they were bearings or the transmission shafts were short and then it has looseness . the car is new, do you know if this is normal?

What does brushless mean?
i finally bought my first RC! i decided to buy this RC Truck except and the inside of mine has all changed. my motor is not blue, just a metal motor with a heatsink. the receiver thing with the antenna has a blue led on it that blinks when driving. my problem is that everytime i accelerate the motor make a loud high pitch noise, almost like a beeping sound. do you have any idea if this is normal? is there a way to stop it? Or should i return it and get another? thanks for your time

The best thing to do for the lipo is wait until the truck arrives and then measure the battery thats in there.

Man I’m watching this a year later and this truck is so different they removed the wheelie bar and the controller has less options and had two batteries that were different than this.

Two different cars really. 144001 for speed and handling... 12428 for offroad and general bashing about. FY08 with an upgraded motor is my choice (video out soon)
