I am running dual Mesa 2:One Hundred Power Amps (precursor to the Mesa 2:Ninety Power Amp) that are being fed by the KSR Ceres Preamp Pedal. The tone I am getting is absolutely sick. I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants a no-compromising, brutal-as-Hell, monster tone. The Mesa Power Amps add a warmth to your tone that you can't get from a solid state power amp. The KSR Ceres is voiced like a tube based preamp. Its the perfect combination.
I like running wet/dry/wet. I would love the Mesa 2:90. I currently use a stereo pair of Orange Micro Terrors which drive 1x12 cabs. I would use the Mesa 2:90 with my 4x12 cabs. I still haven't revived my Marshall 9005. I love my Stereo Two Notes Torpedo Cab M plus setup. I really don't need a big stereo tube poweramp, but it would be nice.
Brother!!! I leave for a couple months and when I return, you have a literal wall of amps!!! Love it man!! You must have been telepathically reading my mind, because I’ve recently been getting the itch for rack gear again. Low and behold!!! Lol. Killer video as well!! Trying catch up on all your videos. Really makes me smile and inspiring to see how your channel has grown! Chugg Chugg!!!
@LouisTorres my bro. Have you tried the Fryette/VHT power amps? Like the 2 50 2 or the 2 90 2 (or even the Power-Station 2 or 100)? Many people say they are the epitomy of power amps and they also have many sound shaping features too.
Yup I’m totally with on the rack gear thing. It definitely had a mystique when I was growing up as the gear to have. I did the same thing as you but I went with the Fryette 2:90:2 to power my herbert preamp and my ax8 and Kemper with. Killer tone. I want to pick up the Mesa triaxis now and just start testing different preamps. 🍻
Just picked one of these up and I think it is amazing especially with the 80's Iron maiden speaker mix. I think I like it more than the power section on my mark III no stripe which has the original iic+ transformers.
@duayynnneremm757 OMG, that must sound like a beast!!!! I'm so glad guys like you are running out to poweramps then to cabinets!! I love it, how great!!!
Sounds killer once again. After having collected all that gear have you found a favourite combo? Love to see a vid of the most face melting combination you can make
Dude you’re so lucky Hasty sold you the 2:90! You should hear it with some synergy modules! Between them and VHT/Fryette power amps they are top notch.
You're killing me with the Synergy! Haha! Mike lives his too! He's going to love his Synergy or Fryette poweramp. Those are the two he's thinking of. :)
@@louistorres no matter what valves i have been using , about 30 min in, it raise in volume as mentioned and the low end pops out more tight , sounds Killer .. ! I add a tubescreamer ts9 infront and it brings some mid and sustain to the tone .. Sounds even better .. !
Sounds nice. Little disappointed tho. You didnt go over the 2:90's voices. I was hoping that you were going to and address the popping when engaging Half Drive . I'm looking for a fix for that.
I'm looking at a Mesa 50/50 stereo power amp... I already have a Mesa Mark V 90 combo. I also have two 4x12 cabs. Is there any way I can set up the mark V and the 50/50 together to make it sound bigger?
The Mesa V90 is 90 watts, so the only thing you can do is use a Mesa 2:100 poweramp but that's only 10 additional watts. There's really no point in buying another poweramp for minimal difference. What you can do is plug the V90 into one Mesa 412. Use a preamp pedal like the KSR Ceres or Victory Kraken and plug that into your 50/50 then to your other Mesa 412. Grab a Radial Bigshot ABY and Y the two amps so you run them stereo! That's when it'll sound huge! Alternatively, grab a Boss GX700 digital preamp for $150 and run to your 50/50 to your M412 and use the Radial.
@@louistorres thanks so much for replying. The Mesa is actually multiwatt so each Channel can be switched between 10, 45 and 90 watts. I never play at 90 watts. It's always at 45 so I push the tubes nicely without killing everybody's ears. Currently my Mesa is Slaved into my Marshall JCM 900 which is switchable between 50 and 100 watts. But I keep that at 50 watts also. Would the 50/50 benefit me at all if I use that instead of my Marshall?
@@louistorres I might have to just grab one of these. I run stereo and I could probably get a much better tone and save my back by not having to lug 2 heavy heads to every show. Especially with how good distortion / preamp pedals are. This thing is stupid loud in stereo right? Like that mesa ballsy thick power? It’s says 90 watts but I’m guessing it’s much more volume / power than a regular head. Cheers! Massive tone brotha!

Still can’t believe Hasty sold the 2:90. Lol. I’ll I can say is try some synergy modules through it. I was blown away when Hasty played the SLO module through it. It was so good I started laughing.
He's gotten me interested in the Synergy modules! He loves them and is looking to get a single space poweramp instead. Either the Synergy poweramp or the R&R 1U poweramp. Did you get to use his R&R SL/LD? That thing is amazing!! Yo, you've been hiding!! : ) Hope you guys had a great Christmas!
