  • My first flight taking the CAT ratings on PilotEdge. Since moving to the USA I am going to have to convert my EASA PPL into an FAA PPL. In the meantime, I decided that that PilotEdge CAT ratings would be a useful way of learning some of the phraseology differences, new airspace classifications and so on.

    Thanks for sharing!
One question, since I'm looking towards joining PE too and therefore starting with this flight: I saw you had to go down to 3000ft for visibility reasons, but is that altitude allowed for VFR heading East? Is it not mandatory to go 'odd thousands + 500'?
    Liked your video.

Hello Levios... Couldn't help but respond as this was a question recently I encountered while obtaining my PPL. VFR headings IE Odd thousand plus 500' heading east and Even thousand plus 500' heading west only apply while you are >3000 ft AGL. Therefore any altitude below 3000' AGL is at your discretion. See FAR 91.159 Hope that helps!

Sure it helps, both the actual information AND your pointing me to the FAR. Very much appreciated.
      Thank you!
