Couldn't make head or tail of the manual, so I looked here and found this: worked in about 2 minutes. As it happened, my fuse wasn't blown but merely loose. Removing and pushing it back in firmly worked a treat. Excellent practical video, thanks.
Also, if you move the yellow fuse up so that its in line with the three fuses either side, it makes the cigarette sockets in the boot and beside the gear lever live all the time, ie not ignition controlled. Excellent video BTW. So easy to watch and follow.
wow i never expected the fuse box of a VW would be hidden behind the glove box, thx a lot for making this video! will definately help me out in the future fixing cars 👍
Missed an opportunity to share with everyone the multi position option on the cigarette lighter fuse. In its current position power is supplied when the car is on. Move it up to align with the other fuses and it will always be powered.
Exactly. However, i didn't buy the new fuse yet. Tomorrow i will go to the dealership to buy it. Hope it won't be that expensive. How much do you think it costs? They must sell it at the dealership i assume. I removed the yellow fuse and saw it was burned, i replaced it with the other yellow fuse which is in the upper row of the fuse box and the cigarette lighter worked perfectly. The upper yellow fuse is for the Infotainment screen, it went dark after i removed its fuse, so i put it back.
Thanks for this, the general info still holds true, but on my 2017 Golf SV I discovered a few changes. Although in the same position, the release lug operation design had been slightly changed. The left one was a ‘click lever’ that required first to be lifted up and the right one was a very awkward ‘push lever’ that was hard to access and operate behind the ‘cooling’ vent control. Once these were released the glove box dropped down, but be ready for the ‘soft close’ retaining control bracket to fall apart. I found it very difficult to re-assemble the glove box, requiring the ‘soft close’ bracket to be first engaged with the ‘friction gear’ retention bar at the same time requiring the left lever to be set and the right button to be simultaneously pushed up. It required several attempts to get all three elements in the correct position. I find it hard to believe that VW could have designed such an awkward method of retaining the glove box in order to access the car’s fuse panel?

In left hand drive it’s located on left hand side behind the mini compartment
Thank you so much, one garage said i need the whole socket replaced. Just done what you said and its working fine again. Thank you so much
Thanks alot mate! After watching this video, the 12v cigarette lighter is now working!
Really appreciate your help! 😊
Spot on. Clear instruction and changed the fuse. Cigarette lighter back to work. Thanks
olrad-y y thank you for saying 👌🏼
Had exactly the same problem, and after watching this the cigarette lighter is working again. :-) Many thanks for posting your video.
I want to hardwire a dash cam in my VW Golf 2016 and wanted to access the fuse box - this video is a big help !! Thanks for taking the time to make it

That is helpful to know, I will never use the cigar lighter socket on my car, but can use that for a dashcam install.
@@Jimages_ukso you will use the cigarette lighter then.
@@robbylebotha no, I used a permanent supply.
I've done this on mine and it worked a charm. Thanks.
Fixed my 12v socket in a jiffy thanks too this video
Darren O'Reilly thanks mate..
RUclips at its finest. Good old CarLube TV. Thumbs up :)
Your a star, had problems fixing my fuses before seeing this video. Many thanks, most helpful. :)
Thank you for your comment, it’s appreciated 😀
Big thanks! I had the exact same fuse that had blown.
Thanks for the video, I was able to find and replace my blown fuse :-)
Bloody legend. This fixed my problem. Fantastic mate 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great video buddy. Thanks to you my problem has been solved! Cheers.
Mohd. Alhamouri thank you for saying
By the way, my fuse box on my 2016 GTI MK7 is located under the steering wheel so it was easier to access :)
Mohd. Alhamouri yours is a left hand drive then I assume

evanofelipe thank you for your info, I’ll have a new golf soon so I’m sure I will find this too
Great video thanks. My infotainment screen is not working need to check the fuses
I have been looking for mine 👍
Top man. Thanks a lot. Really helpful video.
Very helpful , thanks for posting 😉👍
Extremely useful, many thanks!
Brilliant! Thanks
If you move the 20A fuse up a notch so it’s level with the 30A your cigarette lighter and any other power sockets will work with the ignition off.
Wow great info mate.. 👏
Many thanks
Thanks it helped a lot
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks very helpful video.
Excellent 👍🏼
This is helpful. Although im not sure which fuse size am i getting, turns out there are standard, mini, and micro. Im guessing they are standard size?
All std sizes generally, just different wattages.
please do a how-to video coolant change on golf mk7. thanks!
Great video thanks man 🤓
Fab job
Thank you. This helped me a lot. :-)
Hi do you know if the fuse panel can be removed so I can access the front parking buzzer at the top of the fuse panel please?
Was very helpful, thank you mate!
Rafael thank you 👍🏻
I pulled the blue fuse with my fingers and it flies and fall’s inside the holes … not able to find it anymore
Great video. What kind of fuse is needed?
@@kayleighmiller378 thank you, I can’t remember what amp it was now I am afraid.
Perfect
Even after changing the fuse, my sockets, both still do not work, any ideas?
Hey. Any chance you know which fuse is used for the obd socket? Thanks
do you unplug the battery??
No
Thanks for the video great work ! Do you know which fuse operates the right hand side electric window ? ( drivers side )
Timmy Hayes I would imagine that would be on the services fuse along with interior lights - but check your drivers manual to be sure
The clock jumps 1 or 2 hours each time I turn the ignition on, Which fuse is this please?
Thats not a problem with the fuse. If a fuse has blown whatever powered it is protecting will no longer reach the device and will no longer work.
Can this work in a Polo
RH Starman I would imagine it’s in a similar place but I don’t know for sure
Hi ,why does it show the fuse box is on the drivers side on another video.I have a 2013 golf Mk 7 is the fuse box under the glove box compartment.
Carl Thomas the fuse box is on the left regardless of if it’s a left hand or right hand car.
@@carlubetv Hi, so it is behind the glove box, and not behind the smaller box by the steering wheel?
Carl Thomas did you watch the video, I was pretty clear I thought
Is it same process for golf 55plate pls tell thanks
deen adab ka naam hai No, I think the fuse box is in the side of the dash, open the door you should see it
Is there a coolant fuse
Is there a coolant fuse on volkswagon estate 7 and what does it look like
Where is the cigarette lighter button?
Whats the fuse for the discovery head unit mib1?
Sorry I'm not sure
where can you buy these fuses? anybody got a link? please and thank you
You can get them from most hardware stores and car part shops or places like halfords. They are super common
I did the same and still doesn’t work. Anyone know what else it could be?
If you are still stick get a multimeter and check the continuity of the circuit see if there is a break in a wire somewhere
ive just done this, but the cig lighter socket is still dead !
Did you fix this?? Check for continuity on the circuit if you didn't fix it
@@PsyMongSki still not working, ive given on it
@@garysiddall1188 did you check the continuity of the circuit? Its easy enough to do with any multimeter
Great video. Very useful. Thanks.
