My 05 Denali came with Bose badges on the door speakers and an aftermarket stereo already installed. It doesn't sound very good at all. steering wheel controls don't work either. Is it possible the amplifier is not being used? The only way to get sound from 6 speakers is to set the fader to full front, which seems quite sketchy.
It is likely still using the AMP...but I wonder if the integration between the new stereo and the original amp is messed up? Maybe the PAC interface module is bad or maybe they just hardwired it?
Is it possible to install an aftermarket radio and retain steering wheel controls by just getting a harness adapter without the interface? I have a 2005 Z71 Chevy Avalanche and I don’t care about on star but would love to retain my steering controls.
I doubt it. Most stereo units only support 4 channels out, your Escalade likely has the same 11 speakers as my Denali, so you need some sort of interface to convert from 4 channels to 11 channels, and to interface with the Bose amp. I'm not sure about the steering wheel controls.
They make a different module for that. Look for one that says "retains factory amp, steering wheel controls" some cars have the chimes go through the speakers so they also retain that as well. The bose system probably has an amp behind the glove compartment or somewhere else so it's not as easy as unplugging one radio and plugging in another, you go through the module and should be okay. One wire at a time, think about it and google if stuck.
Thanks bro for up load video.. I install the after market stereo and back up camera on my Chevy 5.3 . I got 2 things need to corrected.. 1 I got static maybe I installed ground wire to antenna connection.. 2 when I shift yo back up the music shut off for camera,, anyone have same problem,,
The Low + wires are for headunits that only do 25w x 4. So, you should only be using the LOW wires if you have a standard Pioneer HU. If its more than 25w per channel, you need to use the highs. NOT together.
Thank you for that tip. I had just matched the colors.... then I tried BOTH. I just removed the highs, and spliced the lows instead. However. I STILL only get Sub-Woofer, and Trunk speakers. No FRONT or REAR door speakers. I'm so lost at this point. any assistance on my next move, would be greatly appreciated...
My PAC has no lights (I think it should? where it says FRONT SPEAKER, etc... with the little holes). I get no static, NOTHING. total dead on all 4 door speakers. Perfect sound in the ceiling, and the Sub. I suspect the PAC is ok... Maybe the AMP? Best way to test it?
@@daquellejones264 For BOSE yes, for OnStar if you want to use it then you need another module. Your OnStar might not even work anyway, I know mine is analog and discontinued support for it a few years ago, so if your 2005 uses analog cellular then it doesn't work anyway. Also generally the steering wheel controls are part of the OnStar module, so you might lose those as well if you choose to bypass the OnStar. Personally I was fine bypassing onstar (doesn't work anyway) and the steering wheel controls (meh, I can live without them) in favor of a more simple system. You do you , man. :)

I have a 2003 Sierra extended cab with Bose and JVC aftermarket head unit. It also has a killswitch installed from the previous owner so I have to wait for the chime to sound before I can start my truck. My radio doesn't save my preset stations, my settings, etc... and the rear speakers sound very low even after I installed some new Kicker 4x6 speakers in the rear doors the front speakers work fine what could be the issue and how can I fix it.
I'm no expert, but I know the wiring you attach in the back has two power cables, one is always on (persistent) and one is only on when the key is on. The persistent power is intended to ALWAYS provide a small trickle amount of power to the radio so it remembers your presets, settings, BT devices, etc.,. The key power is for actually powering up the unit and for use. So, it sounds like your persistent wire is not connected or was erroneously connect to the "key power" wire, and your radio unit is only receiving power when you turn the vehicle on. Depending on your model of radio you should be able to find a wiring diagram online, and you should see the two power wires I mentioned above. You will need to see which wire connects to the Sierra wiring harness (again, look at a wiring diagram) and then just make sure you connect persistent to persistent, key to key. I'm pretty sure that will solve your problem. :)
I wondered if the controls on the steering wheel on my 2003 yukon would still work on that radio?? Is that also included with that blue box?? Cool video. so I got a question I got a 2002 Yukon SLE with the Bose system it had a aftermarket deck dual that I replaced with a Pioneer Bluetooth with CD player I connected everything right and there was no sound so I took it to Best Buy to get sound it cost me like 30 bucks they told me that I have not hooked up my remote wire okay my lost there gain my question is if I bought new door speakers but I really want to use everything that it was equipped with this blue pac device thing where did you get that from and does this allow me to use my factory speakers amp and tweeters and everything my new stereo is a 4-channel I'm not going to replace my speakers if I don't have to I'm just going to return the ones I recently bouht and get my money back because I've also read where you can make a bypass for the amp but I don't want to bypass anything I want to use it all if I can
The remote wire is what tells the factory BOSE amp to turn on, so if it was not connected then the amp wasn't turning on, and thus no sound (or really quiet sound). The PAC device is used to connect a standard 4 channel (speaker) deck to a system with more than 4 channels, in this case 11 channels. The PAC transforms the sound from 4 channels to 11, essentially. I bought the PAC unit on Amazon, just search it. You might need a different model though, so search PAC's website first. Yes, the PAC unit allows you use a standard 4 channel deck with your existing 11 speaker BOSE system, including the amp. If your amp and speakers work fine, then you shouldn't need to replace them, just buy the PAC to change the sound from 4 channels to 11, and use the existing hardware. My system sounds great!
i recenlty upgraded my stereo with the pac GMRP5 11. the dial that controls the door speaker chime is that also the volume output power as well ? because my stereo is so low and that dial is turned down.
I have a 2002 Savana with Bose system. I just had a shop replace the head. Now that they're done, I have a battery drain when the ignition is off. The shop tells me it's one of my old Bose amplifiers. I think they have messed up something in the wiring. Is there something they could have done that would cause the amps to draw about .6 amps with the ignition off?
Rick DeBlock did you ever find a fix for the issue? I also had the exact same issue as you are/did. The draw is so bad that it kills my battery over night. Extremely frustrating.
@@trevorlucidi7838 I had that issue to but it was cuse my remote cable was touching the positive and it made it stay on all the time till it drains the battery
Jeovany Hernandez I still haven’t figured out my issue. I have it wired to a toggle switch, even when the switch is off, killing all power to the deck, it still kills my battery. Literally the only way to stop the draw is by pulling the 15amp radio fuse out from under the hood. Somewhere within the radio system it’s drawing battery. I just can’t find it for the life of me and so many people are having the issue, I just can’t find an answer as to how people fixed the issue. It’s driving me nuts.
@@trevorlucidi7838 did you check to make sure there is nothing else hooked up to your constant 12v ? There is a constant 12v wire. That should only have one connection to the back of the aftermarket head unit. If any other wire is connected to it then it is supplying constant power. They might have the amp hooked up to the constant 12v. It needs power for all the speakers to work. But it needs to be hooked up to a switched 12v wire meaning it turns off when you turn the key off.
Hi I am planning to buy porshe after market bose speakers, my doubut is can I fit into my Honda cars?? I read some where bose speakers comes up with theri own algorithm and they do not have after market speakers.
I got a 99 yukon...changed the radio to a pioneer, the sound cuts off around 28 volume so i can't crank it up, & my back doors don't have sound anymore 😩 answers?
I’ve read somewhere that Bose operates on half ohm load or something low like that so if you have it wired to a radio that’s not stable at that level it could cut out at high output .... assuming you have the speakers directly connected to the pioneer bypassing the Bose amp
elio lopez On these older OnStar equipped vehicles the OnStar doesn't work anyway. If I recall GM switched from analog cellular connectivity to digital connectivity at around model year 2007. So the analog equipment in these older GM vehicles literally, physically, can't connect to the newer digital cellular networks. A software update can't fix it. It's like owning a diesel motor when everyone has switched to unleaded and stopped selling diesel. There is nothing you can do about it unless you tear out the entire system's hardware and replace it with a newer vehicle's hardware. SO knowing that, I did what I did and bypassed/disabled the OnStar system (which will never work again anyway). The only negative thing was it also bypassed my steering wheel controls. I looked into how to fix it with an additional adapter assembly that will re-enable those, but it just seemed like too much work and complexity for the little use I would get out of them, so I didn't do it.
That is a great question. I've never noticed them...also I have never NOT noticed them. So I have no idea! All I know is my system still sounds great and I've had no problems, so that set up has worked for me. I've never cared or noticed the reminder tones. Sorry.
@@mrjchristensen1 OK, thanks. I just installed a double din stereo on an 03 Tahoe with an after market adapter but the tines only come out of there and not the speakers anymore. I was wondering if this is a better option.
@@gerrygalvan7313 Got it, sorry I don't have a good answer for you. I know there was a module for enabling the onStar and steering wheel controls, which I did not install because I didn't care about those features enough to want to mess with another component (this old Yukons have analog onStar antennas anyway so they don't even work anymore). So I decided to just not have those features and I've been fine without them...but I wonder if maybe the chimes are on that same circuit? IDK, and it might even be different on a 03 because they changed a few things (the din size is only 1.5 on my model, for example, which is ridiculous).
I tried a few things, my key reminder chime comes out from under the console, does not use the speakers. The lights on chime doesn't make a sound (maybe that one uses the speakers? Maybe mine is broken?). I guess I've never noticed because the lights are automatic and I rarely (if ever) manually turn them on.
It should, but I'm not an expert. I bypassed the steering wheel controls because I didn't want to pay for the additional adapter, so that's essentially what you'll be doing as well.
You don't have to buy any pac modules. Just hook everything up as you normally would... But you have to use the amp wire too...it's blue on the AutoZone wire harness...and it's pink on the factory harness...
Just hook the amp wire up.... Anytime you add a aftermarket stereo to a system with factory amp, you must use the AMP WIRE. or you will get no sound. This was a waste of 💰.

Tommy Woods mine had the steering wheel controls as well, but I never used them so I just bypassed them in my wiring. From what I remember there is a little interface module you can purchase which will interface between the PAC unit and your steering wheel and OnStar inputs (I think the OnStar and steering wheel we're on the same plug or something). I never used the steering wheel controls and my OnStar equipment was so old that it wasn't even supported anymore.
I just did an 03 yukon with Jose system and Steering wheel control. I hooked it up. But client says it doesn't have sound when he puts it into drive? I was sure where to hook up the VSS, reverse, and other wires from the unit... HELP
I don't think so. Look for the silver BOSE logo on the speaker grills or branded somewhere on the original deck, or just count the speakers. On these Yukons with BOSE there are 1 tweeter in each A pillars by the windshield (2 total), 1 mid range speaker in each of the front doors (2 total), 1 speaker in the lower center console by the driver/passenger's knee (2 total), 1 speaker in each of the second row doors (2 total), 1 tweeter in each of the rear pillars (2 total) and 1 subwoofer in the rear driver's side quarter panel (1 total), for a grand total of 11 speakers. In order to power lots of speakers like that they will have a separate amplifier to boost the sound that the deck unit produces. In these models the stock BOSE amp is behind the glove compartment. Hope that helps! If in doubt just turn it up really loud and if it sounds amazing it has BOSE. :)
Jonathan Meyers Not really. The Bose amp expects a signal for 11 speakers, the deck will only put out 4 channels (speakers), so there had to be an intermediary to translate 4 channels into 11 channels.
If it has the BOSE system, it most likely has 11 speakers. There are 2 tweeters in the front pillar, 2 woofers in the front doors, 2 mid range by the driver and passenger's knees (in the center console, where your right knee would rest if you are the driver, most people miss these 2 speakers), 2 woofers in the middle doors, 2 tweeters in the rear pillars, and 1 subwoofer in the back quarter panel. If this is your system you will need an interface module between the new deck (4 outputs/channels; Front Left, Front Right, Back Left, Back Right) and your system's BOSE amp which uses the 11 channels (speakers) mentioned above. I have another video showing the installation of a PAC module where I explain it a little, check it out.
kauaigrown There was no stock DVD player in my Denali. This replaces the entire stereo, but allows you to use the existing BOSE sound system and amp with the new stereo.

My question is, why does my subwoofer level control not work on my head unit? I can control the level of the front and rear door speakers but not the sub. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
fuckgoogle+ my guess would be something in the PAC wiring. But maybe the PAC integration doesn't even support independent sub control-- I don't think the Bose units offered that, just bass and treble. So the boss amp might not even allow for it. Just my guesses.

Yes. You can retain steering controls
I hooked my ivc head unit up to the pac oem-1 and it powers on and everything but it will not play music when i plug it into a usb
Tyler Simoes does it play back any other sound source?
I have a 06 Yukon with the Bose system. Is it the same as what you did ?
I'm not sure on that one.
Have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV
Bought a Double Din Radio think this will work for steering radio control and bose amp with out interface kit
2 when I shift yo back up the music shut off for camera,, anyone have same problem,,
Did you find a fix for your static issue?
I know why you have 2 wires because there are high and low speakers on front doors and back doors low and high are at back corner panels...
Efron GONZALEZ thanks!
1GeekMedia thanks!
Gregg Cerenzio You might have a problem with you PAC unit or with your BOSE amp. You should get some feedback, if only static.
***** I should add, I also had the exact scenario when I wired it manually without the PAC....
Wow! Thanks for skipping the actual important parts!
Which part did you want to see? Maybe I can walk you through it.
Trolls.... classic no reply
mrjchristensen I have an 05 with onstar and Bose. Is this the best route? Well would this work as an option?
@@daquellejones264 For BOSE yes, for OnStar if you want to use it then you need another module. Your OnStar might not even work anyway, I know mine is analog and discontinued support for it a few years ago, so if your 2005 uses analog cellular then it doesn't work anyway. Also generally the steering wheel controls are part of the OnStar module, so you might lose those as well if you choose to bypass the OnStar. Personally I was fine bypassing onstar (doesn't work anyway) and the steering wheel controls (meh, I can live without them) in favor of a more simple system. You do you , man. :)
All u have to do instead of buying that extra kit is use that pink wire from that plug your not using and it will make it work
Ok and hook it up to the red wire ?
Pink to remote
@DwayneSmalls So run the pink wire from the second plug back there to the pac unit that is connecting to the harness of the aftermarket radio?
Because im fully connected and have sound while my 02 Yukon slt 11ch Bose is in acc mode with the PAC ROEM-GM21A. The moment I turn the engine over - no sound although my pioneer head unit Avh-x4800bs is saying that its playing still? What did I do incorrectly, please advise.
I’m trying to add an aftermarket radio and an aftermarket subs with an amp to my factory nose anything I need to know with hooking up both amps
What do i do on my 01 Chevy express 1500 i hooked up every thing an still no sound
Would the PAC ROEM-GM21A Bose interface module work for a 2003 yukon denali xl
I'm not sure on that one.
I wondered if the controls on the steering wheel on my 2003 yukon would still work on that radio?? Is that also included with that blue box?? Cool video. Now I know how to hookup my led roof bar light. Reading othe comments you answered my question about the steering wheel controls. Ya. Fuck that. Lol. Too much fanageling
so I got a question I got a 2002 Yukon SLE with the Bose system it had a aftermarket deck dual that I replaced with a Pioneer Bluetooth with CD player I connected everything right and there was no sound so I took it to Best Buy to get sound it cost me like 30 bucks they told me that I have not hooked up my remote wire okay my lost there gain my question is if I bought new door speakers but I really want to use everything that it was equipped with this blue pac device thing where did you get that from and does this allow me to use my factory speakers amp and tweeters and everything my new stereo is a 4-channel I'm not going to replace my speakers if I don't have to I'm just going to return the ones I recently bouht and get my money back because I've also read where you can make a bypass for the amp but I don't want to bypass anything I want to use it all if I can
The remote wire is what tells the factory BOSE amp to turn on, so if it was not connected then the amp wasn't turning on, and thus no sound (or really quiet sound).
+mrjchristensen yup, connect the blue wire to the back of ur deck, it will tell the bose amp to turn on..
So where do I hook the remote to
i recenlty upgraded my stereo with the pac GMRP5 11. the dial that controls the door speaker chime is that also the volume output power as well ? because my stereo is so low and that dial is turned down.
No idea. I bypassed all of the chimes because I couldn't figure it out either.
@@trevorlucidi7838 try and disconnect the amp and see what happens
No idea. Good luck. :)
I got a 99 yukon...changed the radio to a pioneer, the sound cuts off around 28 volume so i can't crank it up, & my back doors don't have sound anymore 😩 answers?
Eesh, the only thing I can think of is maybe an issue with the connection to the factory amp? Does it have the Bose amp?
I’ve read somewhere that Bose operates on half ohm load or something low like that so if you have it wired to a radio that’s not stable at that level it could cut out at high output .... assuming you have the speakers directly connected to the pioneer bypassing the Bose amp
How did you get the radio antenna unclipped from the rear of the factory one? There is no video of it on RUclips
It doesnt clip its just a tight fit. Pull it
@@dcurtish91 thanks
Where did you buy the interface?
elio lopez Amazon
mrjchristensen ok and did you need anything for the onstar?
elio lopez On these older OnStar equipped vehicles the OnStar doesn't work anyway.
Ha. I mean I don't care for the onstar I just WANa make sure I don't really need it .. I have a 03 Tahoe that has the Bose system ..
elio lopez well...if you need it or not it won't work either way. :)
i wired everything up and have no sound any idea?
Any crackles or anything?
Does the interface help with the alarm/reminder tones to go out of the speaker?
@@gerrygalvan7313 When I get home tonight I'll check the chime sounds and see how they work.
How do I know if I have the factory Bose system
It will say "BOSE" on your speaker grills
I need Help to many wires from my factory radio
Will this work for my truck it’s a 2003 Silverado with Bose no steering wheels controls ? But want to keep my bose system thanks
How did you integrate the 4 channel OUT from the new deck with the 11 channel IN on the amp?
Where do u connect the amp wire to
How do I get it to not run a constant .
Did you get sound out the DVD player
What DVD player?
@@mrjchristensen1 I have an 03 Tahoe Z71 and I can't get the antenna unclipped from the factory radio any suggestions on how to do it so I can put my aftermarket radio in
Where did you get the antana adapter at?
Waller Lane it came in the box with the stereo.
My sister gave the stereo to me and she lost it so do you know where I can get another one
I'm putting in a dual stareo in my Chevy
You can get them at Walmart or Amazon for pretty cheap, usually around $5.
My Tahoe 04 had Bose. Do do I need to buy that interface off Amazon?
Naw just get a 2 channel rca adapter it's cheaper and you dont need to buy a new stereo
how does this unit work with the 2003 trucks with the steering wheel controls???
Tommy Woods mine had the steering wheel controls as well, but I never used them so I just bypassed them in my wiring. From what I remember there is a little interface module you can purchase which will interface between the PAC unit and your steering wheel and OnStar inputs (I think the OnStar and steering wheel we're on the same plug or something). I never used the steering wheel controls and my OnStar equipment was so old that it wasn't even supported anymore.
Does this work with 6 speaker bose system? Please get back to me need help
Jonevan Cooper does it have a separate Bose amp after the deck unit?
I just did an 03 yukon with Jose system and Steering wheel control. I hooked it up. But client says it doesn't have sound when he puts it into drive? I was sure where to hook up the VSS, reverse, and other wires from the unit... HELP
how do I know If my car has is the bose system? It has on star so does that automatically mean that it has the Bose system?
do you have the UQ7 factory sound system by any chance?
Zach Rusert I don't know what that is....
+mrjchristensen it's the rpo code in your glove box
anyway to by pass the blue box thing?
Jonathan Meyers Not really. The Bose amp expects a signal for 11 speakers, the deck will only put out 4 channels (speakers), so there had to be an intermediary to translate 4 channels into 11 channels.
Oh okay gotcha thank you
my suburban has 9 speakers what do I do
If it has the BOSE system, it most likely has 11 speakers. I have another video showing the installation of a PAC module where I explain it a little, check it out.
this ties in the DVD player?
kauaigrown There was no stock DVD player in my Denali. This replaces the entire stereo, but allows you to use the existing BOSE sound system and amp with the new stereo.
what is the red cable for
yolanda quiroz Idk
You seem to know these bose systems extremely well. I own a 2003 suburban with the bose system and have put in an aftermarket pioneer head unit with the pac module and metra harness.
Just my guesses.
can't do it. the sub level is controlled only if it's ran through the sub out rca
What pac harness did you use for your suburban?
Hey yes look I did the by the same pack module how are you on one factory Soundsystem interface anyhow I’m going to be hooking it up so this will allow for my subwoofer to come on???! Thanks
Screw this system lol
what is the red cable for
Red cable always positive
wrong...on a radio harness red is accessory yellow is positive
