Normally I am not a fan of people talking constantly throughout their videos, but in your case you always explain everything so that a newbie beginner can complete the same task with ease. Keep on posting and we will keep on watching. Thanks
After watching this video I am going to start redoing my 02 Suburban XLT, my wife even wants to help. A lot of history just didn't want to get rid of it since it was used to drive grandparents and parents to doctors. Thank you for showing that anything is possible. Keep it up.
Due to your thoroughness, you could explain how to do something totally different from audio or car products and still do an excellent job. This is one of the best videos I have seen on You Tube. well done.
Hey bro, I have 37 + years as an installer. Air saw is much easier and quicker for cutting the plastic out. Just thought this may help you a lil more in the future ! Blue wire is remote turn on for inexperience ppl... Also, the parking brake wire can be bypassed to give you video, by either bypass chip or just ground to black ground wire if head unit harness.... Great job tho
I used a multi tool saw with a cheap square metal/wood blade, to trim the plastic out of the radio cage and it worked well . Battery powered, light way, and adjustable head, with a long read too. Sliced through the cheap plastic like butter with no metal plastic buggers to file.
Holy crap! What a great video man! I've installed basic single DIN aftermarket radios, but the double with all the extras, in a 1.5!! Just great job. For me, I have a 2002 GMC Yukon Denali, same dash and setup. Watching this was extremely informative and points me in the right direction. My direction thankfully is now easier because the head unit I want comes in 2 models virtually the same 7" screen. One is a double DIN, the other single with flip out screen. Deciding from watching your video is the single DIN is $150 more than the double. I'll go with the single because saving $150, I'd spend more on the replacement bezel and few extras, plus, I'm not that crafty and handy as you. I rarely comment on videos, but I had to share how helpful you were! BTW, I'm going with the Pioneer AVH-3300NEX (single) compared to the Pioneer AVH-2300NEX (double). Thanks again - I subscribed!
Excellent description in your videos. I’ve seen almost all of them that have to do with the Tahoe because I have one the same year and package. Super nice to have someone that does multiple vids on things I’d like to do to mine! I always hit up your vids if I need a little extra clarification or just wanna learn something new! Hope you keep going with the vids and keep upgrading the Tahoe! Thanks for all the great info! Now off to upgrade mine!
I have to admit this is pretty well done dude, against all odds and obstacles you manage to make it work. I’m going to add a double din touchscreen stereo to my truck as well so can’t wait and this really inspired me to push forward with the idea.
OR YOU CAN use crutchfield and put in what car and everything you have, it will tell you exactly how much space you can and if the radios will fit, they also include if you can mod them to fit. etc. Very helpful info on there. You think its worth it to pay someone 99 bucks to install a double dim, and to hook it all up to nav and steering weheel?
I just installed almost the same head unit in my wife's 04 Dakota. Looks the same newer part number. Wish I could have just purchased a double din dash panel nobody makes them for Dakota I had to make one. Looks good can't tell it's custom just a lot more work.
The instructions are pretty handy and are clear about removal of the dash support brace for double din fitment. This is true with all full size cabs in the model year and class your working with. The gm11 interface is a realtime module designed to seamlessly convert from oem stereo to aftermarket all the while retaining vehicle functionality. There is no need or stated direction that requires removal of the climate control module.
Great Video. It's exactly what I have been looking for to install a double din to a din and a half in my 1986 Corvette convertible. Any suggestions would really help.
Great great video. I have a 2002 Tahoe mtself with the 5.3l and will now be subscribing to your channel! Wish the audio wasn't completely muffled and almost silent but other than thst awesome job!
Any idea why when i turn my vehicle on i have sound then it just all cuts out? Is that pink wire going to the factory amp to the blue and white wire from stereo harness be my issue?
If you bypassed the factory amp prior to this Double Din Install, would you connect the purple and green wires you shrink wrapped to the same color speed wires if that's was your situation in order to make your rear passenger side and rear driver side speakers to work with the new amplifier you installed?
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am looking to doing an install in my Silverado, and this video will help a bunch. The only thing I can think of is why you did not de-pin the wires that you were not using from the connector instead of heat shrinking the unused wires?
I have an 02 suburban 2500. I have 2 hookups on the factory radio. I got the adapter plug that you have, did everything I needed to but it won't put sound to my speakers without that second plug. I've seen where you can connect the 2 into one but wires don't match up
@@tcb-_-pureskill1798 my truck has an 8 disk cd player from the factory that was removed when I got it, however the previous owner added some sort of signal booster under the dash that was tapped into wires it wasn't supposed to be hooked too and that was messing up my speakers. I ended up running new wires and just left the factory wires hooked up. Now, I have read that the amplifier behind the glove box can mess with not getting power to the speakers. Bypass that and you'll be good
Thank you for great video. If a guy were to simply replace head unit and speakers without amp or sub, do you know how much power the stock head was sending to speakers? How much power double din sends to speakers? Just curious because speakers I am looking at can take up to 35 watts, and if head sends very low power, I am wondering if I would even notice a difference! I am in the old body tahoe 1999.
Replacing the speakers alone will make a difference you can hear. Factory stuff is trash. Replacing the head unit will also help and give you more modern music options. As for power, everything comes with power ratings on the box.
Any chance you could put the links in if possible man. I have a 2001 Tahoe and I think I might do the same. I wanna get an Android double din and also change out the LED on the cluster
i bought mine locally because i could not find them online. hope you have better luck. you can get a 2003+ from a junk yard for very cheap, but you will have to do a bunch of fab work around the A/C stuff below the double din.
Very interesting to see how to get a double din in. I see you bypassed the factory amp/crossover at the head level. There are a couple videos that show how to bypass it at the factory amp unit. It’s behind the glove box. Love the new dash bezel and the double bin case. Good to know it fit. Thanks for a great diy video!
Decent job, man! Its nice to actually see this kit rather than the stock photos. My problem is my truck is the Cadillac. I'd love to double DIN swap being this simple but I just can't loose the woodgrain trim. =( -- Side note, I see they reuse the Auto4WD button in the Tahoes as the Folding Mirrors Button in the Escalade lol. did you have to do anything for the on star i know my 2005 i had to do all kinds of stuff. but i just got a 2002 gmc sierra and want to add a double din. thanks
Not absolutely necessary. you can opt for an 03+ dash from a junk yard and save a bunch of money, however, you will still be doing some fabbing around the A/C controllers to make it work.
Hey Dude, I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban. Am I correct in assuming everything you have purchased here would work for me? Thanks for the video. I'm excited to try this out.
I have a question in terms of bypass the factory amp if I run the speaker wires directly to the 4 channel amp will it work or is there a specific way to bypass the factory amp
Quick question...u know how your radio stays when u turn your car off and it shuts off once the door is open....do u happen to know what fuse that is...mine turns off when I turn the car off...it used to stay on...I know I messed up...I had to tap in to the fuse box....
you have to find the accessory wire red most of the time and hook it up. you can just have a constant 12.so either tap into another fuse that has power when the key is off and run it to you wiring harness to the red wire
looks good, good job. im having issue's with my double din, the mount kit for my dash doesnt line up with any hole on my stereo. if anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know. 2013 kia optima with a 7" boss audio 2 din

Just found your videos. And watched the blue leds and also the dash cluster face. I'm loving what you're doing and inspired me to go get some leds and get it down. I actually just ordered that dash bezel and it was $160 on amazon
Some of these are really a pain in the ass. For instance, in my dodge, i had to wire the ignition wire to the cigarette lighter because it simply didnt work when i wired the ignition wire of the truck harness to the ignition wire of the radio harness
I need some help I just bought a 01 Tahoe and my OnStar does not work because it's analog. I was wondering if there's a way to get the OnStar functionality to be upgraded to digital so that I can use it
Hey great video and nice job explaining everything in detail. It's really helped me out a lot!!! I just have a question. When installing the radio, did you have too make any cut outs into the medal bracing bar in the back? I'm doing a similar install with the Metra DP-3002B for my double din Appradio 4 but on a 02 Suburban. I can't seem to get my radio with the side brackets to slide all the way into the clips on the factory cage, it sticks out and I can't put the trim piece back on it doesn't go flush. Please let me know, If you have any tips or any advice.
@Josh Chess - Thanks for your comment. I did not have to cut the metal brace at all. You see the large wire bundle starting around 3:19 - The trick for me was tucking this behind the radio cage when I put it back in later in the video. I wish I had made that clearer in the video but hindsight is 20/20.
AVT Marketing Okay awesome!! Thank you for getting back to me. I'll try my best to tuck all the wires behind the medal cage then and make everything fit. Great videos keep up the nice work👍🏼👍🏼.
sir was the only reason you pulled the stereo cage out was to cut out for wire running other then that the double din fit in location with the new trim thank you
im working on my truck . I wanna installed a 4 channel amp but after I connect my speaker wires to the truck connector I just get a lot of wierd noises and little music playing....

Interface connection.
Some of these are really a pain in the ass. For instance, in my dodge, i had to wire the ignition wire to the cigarette lighter because it simply didnt work when i wired the ignition wire of the truck harness to the ignition wire of the radio harness
WhiteBoyWithAnIpod should have ran the red wire with the yellow wire. I had to.
I need some help I just bought a 01 Tahoe and my OnStar does not work because it's analog. I was wondering if there's a way to get the OnStar functionality to be upgraded to digital so that I can use it
There is converters for it,
Got check out lsxmatts video and the one he use is usually In the link,

You da man Steve!
thanks
What kind of cluster do you have
The gauge background is from Amazon here amzn.to/38BgMO8
sir was the only reason you pulled the stereo cage out was to cut out for wire running other then that the double din fit in location with the new trim thank you
If I remember correctly, yes
