I love the fact that the Destroy starts off as this insane menace to the world that takes two whole forces to stop but then Shinn and Rey get the Legend and Destiny and cut through mass-produced hordes of them like nothing.
Same, I think it would have made more sense without the Flash Edge beam boomerangs, but I really do love the Destiny. I do kinda dislike the pilot, but that kind of hatred obsessed protagonist is interesting, just not likable.
We all have to know that Kira is something like SUPER coordinator CREATED from lab, and both Athrun and Shin are normal coordinators. Though Shin deafeated most of the time, what he showed is quite impressive one.

In addition to this, when Kira is fighting Shinn in ORB, even after both pilots have activated their SEED mode, you see frames of Kira gritting his teeth, indicating that he's having a hard time over this, and this is after Shinn has lost most of his weapons.

They did. The Wings of Light for Destiny serve as a powerful booster, much like an AC's Overboost. It's used to quickly close gaps between him and his opponent and to use his signature piercing strike. V2's Wings of Light has only ever been used as a sword and shield, not as a super booster.
such a shame this suit never was given a chance by the writers and animators. 1 after images should confuse dragoon system in combination with mirage colloid confusing it's targeting system 2 palm cannon was used only twice as it is intended to be 3 the cannon should be stronger than that of sf cannon considering its massive size 4 with a proper combo of melee and long or mid range i bet it is a perfect killing machine 5 they should have made that wol act like a shield in the back like dispersing incoming beam shot from dragon or any beam attack 6 the sword should be anti beam coated and just like Excalibur the beam can extend to its tip. 7 I do not believe that the physical shield has no use considering on how yzak destroyed the mobile armor shield with its chain whip. means it can serve as first line of defense against that kind of attack. and I saw that beam shield aren't that reliable, I saw how legend i.j penetrated beam shields with their physical weapons. although kira managed to take out beam boomerang and it's sword ( which is bulshit catch considering destinys speed weight of the sword how strong he swing it and managed to catch it ? ) still destiny went for a toe to toe against sf In range combat which the sf best combat style. i am surprised how destiny circles sf like it was nothing making him unable to use its multi lock on capability ( which means shinn still has balls to take on against kira on his preferred combat style ) the bulshit thing is when they portrayed destiny running out of power due to the pilots experience ( which is bs too ).when in ova they never portrayed that, they instead called for shinn for weapon resupply.
Great points. A lot of SD was pure bullshit. Destiny Gundam's design and in-universe tech should've gone through some more checks before given the green light. But then again, any battle Zaft had against Archangel crew were blatantly one-sided. With all the reused battle scenes during the 2nd half, there was no variety in how each Gundam's weapons could've been used, such as why Shinn never used the beam boomerangs as a beam sabre despite having the ability to do so if he lost his anti-ship sword.
Also, there's no reason to not give it 2 regular beam sabres? Its big tangible sword not only is heavy and slows down the suit, but also breaks easily. It's average at any range in ms fight but great at destroying ships, mobile armours and big ms. I guess
that's what I thought too! the high energy long range beam cannon should be stronger than the strike freedom's chest beam considering it's bigger = more power output. no way sf can generate the same amount of power in a short tube. have you ever seen a sniper rifle the size of a hand gun? didn't think so too.

Chouun Shiryu that's not the reason why, but that only happened in the last episode. People hated him because the Authors turned him into a badguy and replaced him with Kira and Athrun again. I have shinn in my top 3 pilots.

Everybody failed to see shinn as a character it seems i find shinn characters more logic actually not like god in the show where the only time his gundam destroy or damage is completely obliterate

In addition to this, we always saw images of Kira fighting Shinn in the intros... whether it was Impulse vs. Freedom of SF vs. Dest. Did we get an epic battle between them? Nada. We had Shinn magically lose all his piloting skills and just fall flat on his face when he fought Athrun, despite the fact that the best Athrun ever managed to pull off was a draw vs. the Strike in the Aegis, and Shinn managed to actually defeat the freedom. Plus people put him on pedistal despite him defecting x3
Well its 8 years ago but ill just reply. When shin defeated freedom, kira didnt even fought seriously. He just wants to escape. When strike vs aegis. Both were enraged with full killing intent because their friends were killed. Case closed

Maybe his was rying yjust to buy time at the beiging, but at the need he knew that he needs to defea Impulse. I get that he was never mentally well upon getting power (Destiny), but they didn't handle the combat scenes well in the 2nd half at all and didn't really show much with Destiny, being its main focus is its mobility and all. Too much grunting scenes too. Atleast give Destiny and Legend a fighting chance against Athrun and friends. Could've build them up more for a more satisfying takedown in the end too. I guess it just left a worse impression on Shinn on those who didn't dig him and dissatisfaction for those who did follow the dude like me.

Having to "kill" Athrun and Meyrin also did a number to his psyche, not to mention the constant brainwashing and manipulation done by Durandal and Rey. That doesn't bode well for Shinn who was emotionally unstable from the start. I've just finished rewatching the series, and seeing how Durandal keep feeding Shinn's ego by pardoning him after doing a severe violation as a soldier without getting any punishment, Shinn's downfall becomes make more sense to me, compared to when I watched it for the first time more than a decade ago... Also, having Rey who keep "supporting" Shinn by saying exactly what the latter wants to hear, only to emotionally blackmail Shinn later with "My time won't be long, you must protect Gil" stuff near the end also doesn't really help his case.

A prime example is that most 00 HG kits use the new ball joint shoulders and a lot of the seed kits are using the older style. So tbh, SEED is older than 00.
When Kira fought Athrun both pilots where completely determined to kill each other, both in seed mode. When kira fought Shinn the first time, shinn was intent on killing kira, he was in seed mode, Kira was only trying to stall shinn so he could escape (Not in seed mode), When Kira was really trying to defeat shinn, when he was trying to safe kagalli, he destroyed arondight an the boomerangs Shinn even had to retreat, its all in fact Kira was resolute then and not before.

Don't see what's there to particularly dislike about Destiny. I kinda wished the physical wings were a different color,, but nothing wrong about it overall. Does its job well in being a successor amalgam to the Impulse

@@AnthroGearhead Sorry, but Sword Strike would lose in a second. I love the Sword Strike, but Destiny has improved versions of all the Sword Strike's weapons with the exception of the Rocket Anchor. Additionally, the Destiny has VPS compared to the Sword Strike's original Phase Shift Armor, a Nuclear Reactor and an N-Jammer Canceler, a beam rifle, a beam cannon, wings of light, and it was also way faster. Destiny definitely wins this one.
I love the Destiny, it was like an combined form of Impulse, just like Perfect Strike but less bulkier. Don't really like the color though. It was too bright, making it doesn't looks like a millitary secret project stuff.
Wings of light was derived from the Victory 2 and Turn A's moonlight butterfly. The after images are devrived from Gundam F91. The weapons are exactly the same from all of the Strike's weapon except that the Destiny have 1 extra boomerang and energy shields. EXACTLY same color scheme as the Zeta Gundam. Black and red backpack, blue gauntlet, etc. The palma fiocina are used in the EXACTLY same manner as the shining finger, to the point where Fukuda admitted it himself. There is no explanation of how the variant of the Voilture Lumiere System works, because it generates thrust to the side because the Destiny's wing are stuck pointing out to the side. The blunt piece of the arondight sword make the sword useless because it's not sharpened and have no beam covering it, and beam sabers DO NOT repel each other, making it even LESS pratical than Beam Sabers. So this Gundam is a guide for what to avoid when designing a mobile suit.
Yeah, that's the thing, the Wings of Light are its propulsion system, not an auxiliary booster like Destiny's Wings of Light are. There isn't an explanation for how Duo manages to replace the Deathscythe's Buster Shield every time it's used and no one seems to mind.

You realize that Yoshiyuki Tomino has not directly worked on a Gundam series since 1999, right? The only thing he's done in the past 13 or so years has been the Z Gundam compilation movies. Seed and Destiny were helmed by Mitsuo Fukuda
yes however until it gets perfectly into melee range it's chances of winning are low vs. any suit with Dragoons in space it's outright screwed if the enemy pilot knows what they're doing. At least the Destiny has it's wings so it could evade shots and move in closer.
The Butterfly Wings are technically physical since they're made of nanobots. Looks doesn't change the fact that they have the same general use: an offensive tool to decimate multiple enemies.

First abandoned by Heero after being grappled by Zechs' Leo. Then it first attempted to self-detonate (stopped by Deathscythe), then Heero attempted to destroy it with torpedoes. He self-detonated it when he was fighting the Tallgeese. After being repaired, Heero used the Heavyarms instead to fight Zechs again, then it was abandoned when he went to space, reclaimed it but damaged & abandoned before piloting Epyon, and finally,Lady Une piloted Wing until its destruction at the Libra's cannon :(
she did put her nation before herself but even still thats enough to piss a guy enough. just imagine if you were in athruns spot at that time and atleast he tried to keep the relationship together that shows he atleast cared about it and was not just hanging around for fun like most relationships nowadays

There's evidence that he did so at least once - in Orb, a Murasame attacking the Destiny is shot down by a thin, blue-white beam fired from off-screen. The Palma Fiocina is the only weapon the Destiny has that fires such a beam. I do agree other than that though.

Cagalli put her nation before herself when she decided to marry Yuna. They convinced her that marrying Yuna was for the sake of ORB, and for doing that, she kinda did the right thing. Besides it's not that hard to realize that the only reason Athrun put the engagement ring on her was to try to keep a failing relationship together. The only reason those two ended up together was because Kira and Cagalli were twins and even then it wasn't going to last.

(they're very well done actually, the only thing I disagreed with was you saying you eventually liked Athrun more than Kira in the SEED vid...) However we have been told that there might be some plot changes in SEED Destiny, and perhaps a three different endings from what I might have heard. The Aegis vs. Strike battle goes both ways (lol) It can be called the first event of Jesus Yamato plot armor Or it can be blamed on Athrun for not keeping an eye on his power gauge. He's supposed to be in super mode AND he's a trained ace. Expecting him to keep an eye on his power gauge is an absurd request.
How? Were the scientists not captured? They don't even mention Howard at all during the course of the story. And even during their capture, he still had the ability to outfit Tallgeese with thrusters for outer space.
Actually given the situation, a generalist would never match a specialist in any given field. Despite having more ranged weapons than the IJ. The Destiny got it's ass handed to it because said situation immediately became something that the Destiny was not able to compete with. That is the Destiny's main limitation as a jack of all trades but a master of none. The benefit of being a specialist is knowing your role and how to counteract in situations that don't benefit in your favor.
Wing Zero's larger angel wings double as a durable shield, plus all they really do other than that is grant it ludicrous manuverability in the air. The smaller wings are what grant it its main thrust. Destiny is already hard to hit considering how fast it moves when those wings are deployed. While the wings and weapon set were made as a Silhouette pack, only the Destiny could handle its power due to N-Jammer Canceller tech Besides, if you wanna talk impractical, then take a look at EX-S
Hey I like the EX-S its more practical than you think. Unlike its earlier version it doesn't suffer from ZZ combined syndrome. Also its tanks are discarded before battle giving better flexibility.
Strike vs. Aegis resulted in the Aegis completely destroyed, the Strike repairable, and both pilots critically wounded and would have probably died without medical care. Because the Strike was repairable I hand that to Kira for the most part. This was both pilots at the top of their game trying to kill each other in similar machines. Saviour vs. Freedom... Kira had SEED activated but Athrun DID pull himself together and try to battle Kira. As a result, Saviour owned. Thats why Kira > Athrun
Still , I get SO BORED when in so many series its like OH SO MANY ENEMIES WE`R SCREWED < L A M E . In SEED I get to see something different at least , Millions of enemies ? no problem
well in the early parts of seed kira said he hated war and didnt want anything to do with it. yet he ends up joining the EA to protect his friends. since lacus is zafts chairman it only be reasonable for him to fight to protect lacus. im sure athruns constant defecting has to do with what could have happened had he stayed with zaft in seed. if he didnt leave the earth would have been burned by genesis so hes probably just careful about his decisions.

well besides VL as its main speed boost im sure you can assume destiny has a Hi-mat system too. I mean zaft did make it so and since the found a way to let legend use its dragoons on earth im sure the same could be done for destiny regarding its speed. I dont agree that the reactor was SPECIFICALLY for VL because it gives destiny more battle time in general and plus it was the best nuclear reactor they could make at that time and VL consumed more than produced so you kinda have to deal with it

ya they also had the multiple beam shields on them which have been used to bat away physical objects too (eg the poor BuCUE in phase 31) It took Kira AND Shinn an episode to down the first Destroy. Shinn/Rey take them out in a matter of seconds. Because of this I thought Shinn and Rey had very good skills... yet get stomped by Kira and Athrun despite almost killing Kira in 43 ans the fact that I don't rate Athrun very high. It was a plot inconsistancy in GSD.
The Wings of Light allow for unparalleled acceleration and speed compared to other mobile suits. While it is true that the IJ is 'better' in melee, all you need to do to beat it is kit it with the destiny's greater speed. The IJ is not better designed because it requires that you be in melee range for the majority of it's attacks. What I said in the second paragraph is not baseless. I gave a valid example of why Shinn is better than Athrun, which is each of their fights vs. Kira.
Im pretty sure its not that simple. most of IJ's weapons are melee but that doesnt mean its ALL melee. The IJ still has its rifle and those cannons on its backpack. So kiting it isnt gonna be that easy
If anything the biggest person to blame is Neo for promising Shinn that Stella wouldn't have to fight and then... gasp she's in the Destroy. Okay we've beaten the Destroy topic to death now.
from what i heard destinys palm guns are a short range weapon so it depends how close IJ is following behind and since destiny is so much faster it wouldnt take to long before IJ is out of range while IJ can shoot with its blaster and backpack guns. This part is just your opinion and i respect it and all but do you consider it worse than impulse, saviour, chaos etc.? cause those are battery powered and wont last as long in combat as IJ. and IJ Hi-mat is kinda like a 2nd place to VL so its not
cont. gundams are unable to easily adapt to new situations, some may say that they're the ones that are weak. and some of destiny's weapons are unique and some are not. (ie) destiny's boomerangs can extend to be 1 hand swords. its 2 hand sword is waaaaay longer than regular 2 hand antiship swords so id say thats somewhat unique. its beam cannon probably provides more output than regular ones. but its a beam cannon its already the strongest for of range combat its the only seed suit with palmguns

Other than that if you want my real honest opinion, my biggest gripe with the Destiny is it's enormous wingspan and the fact it carries half of the Destiny's fighting capability on what would be the biggest target you'll probably hit. I just find it a little impractical how bare and ineffectual the Destiny's build is without it's thruster unit. It was the same problem I had with Wing Zero's EW custom gaudy angelic wings, but at least it would still have the hax Buster riffle if clipped.

Um, no you really didn't. You talked about the fins being similar to the spikes on the shoulders, or at the very least, you didn't make a clear. According to specs and info I found, yes, the jewel actually does function as a power regulator. The King of Hearts crest does show up but at the end of the day, that's still its function, much like Wing/Wing Zero. They even glow when powering up
sure its screwed against guys in dragoons but same could be said about them if they were in melee range. destiny doesnt have dragoons and most of its weapons require empty hands which means it can only be using 2 weapons at a time (excluding CIWS not like those would do anything to a nuclear powered VPS) and if the destiny was flying backwards while shooting at IJ im assuming the thrusters would be slower than if he was flying foward so IJ's improved Hi-Mat might give it even speed or more
GSD final plus=biggest disgrace in gundam. Kira in SEED "I'LL NEVER JOIN ZAFT EVAAA!!!!!1111" Then we see him there in Rau's uniform. Also his relationship with Lacus. Also Athrun's contrived relationship with Cagalli (another reason I hate him... she deserved better than a man who would double cross you like *snaps fingers* that)
Yet halfway through the fight, Kira decides that he needs to finish Shinn, and fails. The only weakness of Shinn is his rage from finding out that Kira and Athrun were alive, which happens when Kira fights Shinn in ORB and when Athrun fights him later. Even then I will still standby the fact that at the end of GSD morasawa got lazy and made whoever was the goodguy auto win. If Shinn had been in his calm state and not under anti-plot armor at the end of GSD, the IJ would have been defeated.
All the weapons he has must require hands. The only good thing about Destiny is his "Wings of Light", when fighting a really hard enemy he'll just use it.

I watched the video, if you remember and yes, you kinda did go overboard. It really just seemed like you were squinting and trying to look for anything it "ripped off", rather than viewing it as a tribute/throwback.
the destroys may have alot of firepower but dont forget that they are MUCH larger than normal mobile suits. which means it leaves room for blind spots and lack of mobility and since destroys are only protected by TP armor it wouldnt be too hard for destiny and legend to destroy them with beam weapons. SF and IJ on the other hand are smaller and much more mobile than destroys. plus the destroys cant cover each others blind spots due to the risk of hitting one another
well honestly if he didnt care i dont think he would have given shinn the chance to stop her. yet he did and shinn failed which resulted in kira finishing off the destroy and shit it is getting hard to find where we left off XD

They did. The Wings of Light for Destiny serve as a powerful booster, much like an AC's Overboost. It's used to quickly close gaps between him and his opponent and to use his signature piercing strike. V2's Wings of Light has only ever been used as a sword and shield, not as a super booster.

Great points. A lot of SD was pure bullshit. Destiny Gundam's design and in-universe tech should've gone through some more checks before given the green light.
But then again, any battle Zaft had against Archangel crew were blatantly one-sided. With all the reused battle scenes during the 2nd half, there was no variety in how each Gundam's weapons could've been used, such as why Shinn never used the beam boomerangs as a beam sabre despite having the ability to do so if he lost his anti-ship sword.
Well the Destiny's capacitors could have been drained when in heavy combat but I guess these writers are not that smart.
Also, there's no reason to not give it 2 regular beam sabres? Its big tangible sword not only is heavy and slows down the suit, but also breaks easily. It's average at any range in ms fight but great at destroying ships, mobile armours and big ms. I guess

that's what I thought too! the high energy long range beam cannon should be stronger than the strike freedom's chest beam considering it's bigger = more power output. no way sf can generate the same amount of power in a short tube. have you ever seen a sniper rifle the size of a hand gun? didn't think so too.

In addition to this, we always saw images of Kira fighting Shinn in the intros... whether it was Impulse vs. Freedom of SF vs. Dest. Did we get an epic battle between them? Nada. We had Shinn magically lose all his piloting skills and just fall flat on his face when he fought Athrun, despite the fact that the best Athrun ever managed to pull off was a draw vs. the Strike in the Aegis, and Shinn managed to actually defeat the freedom. Plus people put him on pedistal despite him defecting x3
Well its 8 years ago but ill just reply. When shin defeated freedom, kira didnt even fought seriously. He just wants to escape. When strike vs aegis. Both were enraged with full killing intent because their friends were killed.

It's sad that that was the peak of Shinn being a super ace too. I get that he was never mentally well upon getting power (Destiny), but they didn't handle the combat scenes well in the 2nd half at all and didn't really show much with Destiny, being its main focus is its mobility and all. Too much grunting scenes too. Atleast give Destiny and Legend a fighting chance against Athrun and friends. Could've build them up more for a more satisfying takedown in the end too.
I guess it just left a worse impression on Shinn on those who didn't dig him and dissatisfaction for those who did follow the dude like me.

Having to "kill" Athrun and Meyrin also did a number to his psyche, not to mention the constant brainwashing and manipulation done by Durandal and Rey. That doesn't bode well for Shinn who was emotionally unstable from the start.
I've just finished rewatching the series, and seeing how Durandal keep feeding Shinn's ego by pardoning him after doing a severe violation as a soldier without getting any punishment, Shinn's downfall becomes make more sense to me, compared to when I watched it for the first time more than a decade ago...
Also, having Rey who keep "supporting" Shinn by saying exactly what the latter wants to hear, only to emotionally blackmail Shinn later with "My time won't be long, you must protect Gil" stuff near the end also doesn't really help his case.

When Kira fought Athrun both pilots where completely determined to kill each other, both in seed mode. When kira fought Shinn the first time, shinn was intent on killing kira, he was in seed mode, Kira was only trying to stall shinn so he could escape (Not in seed mode), When Kira was really trying to defeat shinn, when he was trying to safe kagalli, he destroyed arondight an the boomerangs Shinn even had to retreat, its all in fact Kira was resolute then and not before.

@@AnthroGearhead Sorry, but Sword Strike would lose in a second. I love the Sword Strike, but Destiny has improved versions of all the Sword Strike's weapons with the exception of the Rocket Anchor. Additionally, the Destiny has VPS compared to the Sword Strike's original Phase Shift Armor, a Nuclear Reactor and an N-Jammer Canceler, a beam rifle, a beam cannon, wings of light, and it was also way faster. Destiny definitely wins this one.

Wings of light was derived from the Victory 2 and Turn A's moonlight butterfly. The after images are devrived from Gundam F91. The weapons are exactly the same from all of the Strike's weapon except that the Destiny have 1 extra boomerang and energy shields. EXACTLY same color scheme as the Zeta Gundam. Black and red backpack, blue gauntlet, etc. The palma fiocina are used in the EXACTLY same manner as the shining finger, to the point where Fukuda admitted it himself. There is no explanation of how the variant of the Voilture Lumiere System works, because it generates thrust to the side because the Destiny's wing are stuck pointing out to the side. The blunt piece of the arondight sword make the sword useless because it's not sharpened and have no beam covering it, and beam sabers DO NOT repel each other, making it even LESS pratical than Beam Sabers. So this Gundam is a guide for what to avoid when designing a mobile suit.

It was supposed to be Kira's in Seed before it got scrapped for the Freedom.
First abandoned by Heero after being grappled by Zechs' Leo. Then it first attempted to self-detonate (stopped by Deathscythe), then Heero attempted to destroy it with torpedoes. He self-detonated it when he was fighting the Tallgeese. After being repaired, Heero used the Heavyarms instead to fight Zechs again, then it was abandoned when he went to space, reclaimed it but damaged & abandoned before piloting Epyon, and finally,Lady Une piloted Wing until its destruction at the Libra's cannon :(
she did put her nation before herself but even still thats enough to piss a guy enough. just imagine if you were in athruns spot at that time and atleast he tried to keep the relationship together that shows he atleast cared about it and was not just hanging around for fun like most relationships nowadays

There's evidence that he did so at least once - in Orb, a Murasame attacking the Destiny is shot down by a thin, blue-white beam fired from off-screen.
The Palma Fiocina is the only weapon the Destiny has that fires such a beam.

Cagalli put her nation before herself when she decided to marry Yuna. They convinced her that marrying Yuna was for the sake of ORB, and for doing that, she kinda did the right thing.
Besides it's not that hard to realize that the only reason Athrun put the engagement ring on her was to try to keep a failing relationship together. The only reason those two ended up together was because Kira and Cagalli were twins and even then it wasn't going to last.

How? Were the scientists not captured? They don't even mention Howard at all during the course of the story. And even during their capture, he still had the ability to outfit Tallgeese with thrusters for outer space.

Actually given the situation, a generalist would never match a specialist in any given field. Despite having more ranged weapons than the IJ. The Destiny got it's ass handed to it because said situation immediately became something that the Destiny was not able to compete with. That is the Destiny's main limitation as a jack of all trades but a master of none. The benefit of being a specialist is knowing your role and how to counteract in situations that don't benefit in your favor.
Wing Zero's larger angel wings double as a durable shield, plus all they really do other than that is grant it ludicrous manuverability in the air. The smaller wings are what grant it its main thrust.
Destiny is already hard to hit considering how fast it moves when those wings are deployed. While the wings and weapon set were made as a Silhouette pack, only the Destiny could handle its power due to N-Jammer Canceller tech
Besides, if you wanna talk impractical, then take a look at EX-S
Hey I like the EX-S its more practical than you think. Unlike its earlier version it doesn't suffer from ZZ combined syndrome. Also its tanks are discarded before battle giving better flexibility.
Strike vs. Aegis resulted in the Aegis completely destroyed, the Strike repairable, and both pilots critically wounded and would have probably died without medical care. Because the Strike was repairable I hand that to Kira for the most part. This was both pilots at the top of their game trying to kill each other in similar machines.
Saviour vs. Freedom... Kira had SEED activated but Athrun DID pull himself together and try to battle Kira. As a result, Saviour owned.
Thats why Kira > Athrun

I dont agree that the reactor was SPECIFICALLY for VL because it gives destiny more battle time in general and plus it was the best nuclear reactor they could make at that time and VL consumed more than produced so you kinda have to deal with it

It took Kira AND Shinn an episode to down the first Destroy. Shinn/Rey take them out in a matter of seconds. Because of this I thought Shinn and Rey had very good skills... yet get stomped by Kira and Athrun despite almost killing Kira in 43 ans the fact that I don't rate Athrun very high. It was a plot inconsistancy in GSD.

The Wings of Light allow for unparalleled acceleration and speed compared to other mobile suits. While it is true that the IJ is 'better' in melee, all you need to do to beat it is kit it with the destiny's greater speed. The IJ is not better designed because it requires that you be in melee range for the majority of it's attacks.
What I said in the second paragraph is not baseless. I gave a valid example of why Shinn is better than Athrun, which is each of their fights vs. Kira.

Im pretty sure its not that simple. most of IJ's weapons are melee but that doesnt mean its ALL melee. The IJ still has its rifle and those cannons on its backpack. So kiting it isnt gonna be that easy

from what i heard destinys palm guns are a short range weapon so it depends how close IJ is following behind and since destiny is so much faster it wouldnt take to long before IJ is out of range while IJ can shoot with its blaster and backpack guns.

destiny's boomerangs can extend to be 1 hand swords.
its 2 hand sword is waaaaay longer than regular 2 hand antiship swords so id say thats somewhat unique.
its beam cannon probably provides more output than regular ones. but its a beam cannon its already the strongest for of range combat

Other than that if you want my real honest opinion, my biggest gripe with the Destiny is it's enormous wingspan and the fact it carries half of the Destiny's fighting capability on what would be the biggest target you'll probably hit. I just find it a little impractical how bare and ineffectual the Destiny's build is without it's thruster unit. It was the same problem I had with Wing Zero's EW custom gaudy angelic wings, but at least it would still have the hax Buster riffle if clipped.

According to specs and info I found, yes, the jewel actually does function as a power regulator. The King of Hearts crest does show up but at the end of the day, that's still its function, much like Wing/Wing Zero. They even glow when powering up
sure its screwed against guys in dragoons but same could be said about them if they were in melee range. destiny doesnt have dragoons and most of its weapons require empty hands which means it can only be using 2 weapons at a time (excluding CIWS not like those would do anything to a nuclear powered VPS) and if the destiny was flying backwards while shooting at IJ im assuming the thrusters would be slower than if he was flying foward so IJ's improved Hi-Mat might give it even speed or more

The only weakness of Shinn is his rage from finding out that Kira and Athrun were alive, which happens when Kira fights Shinn in ORB and when Athrun fights him later. Even then I will still standby the fact that at the end of GSD morasawa got lazy and made whoever was the goodguy auto win. If Shinn had been in his calm state and not under anti-plot armor at the end of GSD, the IJ would have been defeated.
The question is, why are you even going to these videos in the first place if you dislike it so much?
All the weapons he has must require hands. The only good thing about Destiny is his "Wings of Light", when fighting a really hard enemy he'll just use it.

And not only that. Kira yamato took everything from shin in this show. Why there is not frrakin perfect Grade destiny but only Perfect Strike Freedom. Even Strike get remastered version of PG.
I love Destiny Gundam with Shin Asuka. Anything Shin Asuka related is my favourite.

If he cared about her he wouldn't have left for the PLANTs. He would have stood by her side and helped her in those terrible times. See to me Athrun only cares about himself and expects everyone else to conform to his views. If they don't then he just fucks off to somewhere else and tries to find someone who will. He never realized that while he has literally no responsibility, Cagalli has a lot. She has a responsibility to ORB and it's people.
I watched the video, if you remember and yes, you kinda did go overboard. It really just seemed like you were squinting and trying to look for anything it "ripped off", rather than viewing it as a tribute/throwback.
the destroys may have alot of firepower but dont forget that they are MUCH larger than normal mobile suits. which means it leaves room for blind spots and lack of mobility and since destroys are only protected by TP armor it wouldnt be too hard for destiny and legend to destroy them with beam weapons. SF and IJ on the other hand are smaller and much more mobile than destroys. plus the destroys cant cover each others blind spots due to the risk of hitting one another
well honestly if he didnt care i dont think he would have given shinn the chance to stop her. yet he did and shinn failed which resulted in kira finishing off the destroy and shit it is getting hard to find where we left off XD
