Would this size be good for sharks and bull reds? If so what would be the biggest shark realistically that this rig would be able to handle? Thank you.
Y’all think this is hard to cast for a first time conventional reel owner ? Especially in windy conditions ? Thinking bout getting one for surf fishing down in Texas
If you are surf fishing you would probably be using heavier weights plus bait. Heavier weight is easier to cast with a conventional than say fly lining bait. Just spend time practicing. Start with easy swings, don't shoot for the moon. Ride the spool with your thumb until you get use to feathering your thumb to control the spool over run. One of the most important parts of casting a conventional reel is keep your eye on your rig as it's traveling away from you. As soon as it hits the water you need to stop the spool with your thumb. If you are fishing deep water, after you stop the spool you can let more line feed out till your rig hits bottom.

Looks like a great reel
Hi what is the line capacity of this reel I use mono thanks for your time and help 🐟
What would be equal to say an abu 7000 size?
Whoops ! you say it can hold about 500 yards of 50 lb braid, but the link specs say 135 yards of 50 lb braid.
I was able to fit a 500 yard spool of power pro 50 lb braid on my fathom lever drag 25. The 25 star drag should be similar in capacity.
What surf rod would pair well with this reel? I will mainly use it for bull reds and sharks. preferably 10-12 ft.
Thinking of making them my all around, throwing out chucks and trolling with 30lb mono too shot. Anyone troll them?
