Satisfying Refurb (slab picnic table)

Spraying is a better finish, but much thinner coat. And much more work prep and clean up. Brushing gives a much thicker coat for better protection. So in a perfect world I’d brush first few coats then sand and spray for finish coat

Just for the sake of asking a question: why couldn’t you spray the varnish?
