The Paldean Swirlix line should be pure Fairy ➡️ Fairy/Fire upon evolution. It's based on hot chocolate, it has an extra spicy kick in Spain, and it has the ability to cause spontaneous anger/paranoia when too much of it is consumed. It's super fitting IMO ☕️🔥

Thanks to the comment about the rage caused by chocolate, I think the swirlix/slurpuff line being fairy/dark could actually be really neat. This line being a set of chocolates that make you happy if you take small tastes of it, but indulge too much and it sends you into a wild rage attacking anything you see like a dog with rabies

I would love to see a regional form of Duraludon that's either Grass or Flying instead of Steel, as instead of being building it would be a windmill. Make it the signature mon of an old crazy guy who is way to invested with knighthood and you have a perfect reference to the most iconic scene of Don Quijote de la Mancha.
More perfect, have the crazy old man have a team of knight based mon (including Armorouge/Cerulege), have him start a quest were you have to figure out that the windmill is actually a Duraludon, and end it with the old man accepting the mon into his team.
Will you be able to do a video for the newly revealed Pokemon Wiglett? It would be interesting to discuss the difference of convergent evolutions and regional variants/evos.
I'm from Spain, so I'm gonna predict that Wiglett has something to do with "angulas", a type of fish that is typical from the north of Spain and, when cooked, it's white and long, like Wiglett. And the fact that Wiglett is in the sand of the beach instead of in the actual sea can be another reference to "gulas", a cheap substitutive made out of surimi, so they're not real angulas, like Wiglett probably not being a real fish.

I honestly *could* see GF going for a more disguised cigarette pokemon. Like, maybe a Fire/Poison or Fairy/Poison snake pokemon that's mostly light colored (white or beige) with a black head. If you take black snake, carbon snake and pharao's snake experiments as additional sources, you can definitely make a snake mon that stealthily references cigarettes. Though it's not necessarily Spain related, I just thought the idea was cool.
How about swapping Specory and Telescar, so Telescar is the Base Evo. Not only makes the change of shape more sense (right now it basically becomes an eel and then returns to its original shape or at least close to it) but it would also gain altitude with each evo. Maybe Telescar always loved how the Deepsea looked like stars so it wanted to see them for real, rising higher with each evolution, losing the telescope-trait, because it does’t have to look as far anymore. :)
Always thought that the reason hisuian pokemon would be in Paldea was because the portuguese brought them there, as they were the first ones to find Japan. If that ends up correct I would like to see at least one or 2 more references, I really think the plaza shown in the trailers, is a mix of Plaza Mayor, with its structure, and Terreiro do Paço with its colors and buildings a bit too. Can't wait to find more about the Paldea's pokedex!
I am really hoping there will be some new ghost types based on Spanish ghost stories and folklore. I can see one based on El Silbón or as it's known in English The Whistle Man. The story goes he carries around the bones of his father and enters houses to count the bones. If you don't hear his whistle it means the household will be blessed. However if you do his whistle it means someone in the house will die soon.
There are lots of ghost stories but most are difficult to downgrade for kids. for example a good call would be a regional form of Falinks with ghost type representing la santa compaña (or "guestia " in the north).
I LOVE all the thought and detail that you put into your Pokémon! I feel like each design has like 5 different inspirations that all fit together beautifully. Also for the Swirlix variant line, how about Fairy/Dark cus of dark chocolate?
Fun fact about the man-o-war: in german it's called 'portugiesische Galeere' which means 'portuguese Galley'. Galleys were not only very popular in the mediterranean region in medieval times, it's also where the word 'galleon' (in german 'Galeone') derives from. I know that man-o-war already describes a war ship in general but galley/Galeere fits just perfectly for Paldea.
@@kiwin7119 I'm glad people like you will be able to discover my culture. I loved to discover alola and kalos, and i hope they'll capture the essence of the iberian peninsula.
I like the idea of the Swirlix being Fairy/Fire type, because as you pointed out, they tend to put spice in their hot chocolate, and it's not like that's the only chocolate they make spicy! They have plenty of spicy chocolates over there, maybe a little bit of added detail or slight color changes, and bam, super easy believable fairy fire type, based not only on them making the lolipop, but also their love of spicy sweets! I'm surprised you didn't think of this! Also there's another way you could have gone with a Cigarette mon, instead of just being a Cigarette, possibly something more like a spanish mafia don, with some Cigar-esque features, and some smoke motifs and obviously smoke breath! Instead of it just being the Cigarette, you could go with more of someone who Smokes, and is often portrayed as such in media. If you wanted to, you could even make a prevo for it that has wraps on it in a similar style to that of a stereotypical Cigar, and it can hold them between a finger- In fact, I've just got a whole idea for it, Grass/Fire for the prevo, looks kind of like a Cigar, but it's kind of just a cloak that covers itself, not sure what animal would be thrown in, or what details could be added, and then the evolution would be Ghost/Fire type, and would suck the life force out of their pre-evolutions to release as puffs of smoke-
I'd have the Swirlix and Slurpuff variants be Fairy Dark, why? Because it's an interesting combination, and black chocolate is naturally bitter so it fits for the word play
I think that the normal type is used for pokemon inspired by things or animals that are really common around the world. And lollipops are pretty common. So the normal type as the type for a pokemon based on a lollipop woks well in my opinion. You could also add the fairy type since there´s already many food inspired pokemon that have that type.
Seeing your galleon Man-o-War pokemon, reminded me of the ghost ship pokemon I drew a while ago. I had made it an evolution for Dhelmise and based it around myth of The Flying Dutchman. I had named it Dutchmyst and it's name comes from Dutchman, myth, and mist, since it's usually depicted surrounded in a ghostly mist or fog.
For the paldean slurpuff/swirlix, I was thinking about a "joke" type where it would be Fairy/Dark because of Dark chocolate and the whole making other angry stuff maybe, having a "not so evil dark type"
A great Pokémon inspiration would be the 'Pementos de Padrón', a pepper from a town in Galicia (north west of Spain). They are pretty famous in the penninsula for their special feature: some are spicy, some aren't. There's even a game where you order a plate to eat with friends, and whoever gets the first one that's spicy has to pay the bill. I think a plant/fire Pokémon would be perfect, with a signature movement that has 50% chance of burning, or that even changes type between fire and plat randomly.
Paldean Swirlix could be Fairy normal (normal do to the candy being common/popular) while Paldean Slurpuff is fairy fire (fire due to the spicy aspect of hot chocolate. That or you could say from the heat of the hot chocolate)
Spaniard here! I’ve always told my friends that they haven’t experienced churros to the fullest unless they have it with the Spanish hot chocolate I had growing up. Perfect for Christmastime, which Madrid decorates so well for! I miss it so much!!! 😭😭😭
I love these ideas for Pokémon, they are great! And as a Portuguese, I love seeing the history of my country. How do you know everithing about anything that you use to make Pokémon?
One thing I'd be very surprised if they didn't do is a ghost type chicken pokémon based on the Barcelos Rooster. It's one of Portugal's most recognizable symbols and has some neat folklore. Variations of the tale exist, but the gist is that a man was about to be sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. Pleading, he points at a roasted rooster and claims to be certain of his own innocence as he is certain that the rooster will crow. The rooster is then set aside for the judge's amusement, until the day of the execution wherein it miraculously stands up and crows, just as predicted.
Wait, I just remembered this video was about inventions specifically. Uhh, I guess souvenirs of the Barcelos Rooster are technically an invention? Eh, I just felt like sharing the story and forgot the video's theme. Oops.
I think that another really cool idea for Portugals impact on naval exploration would be Paldean Wailord. It would basically be an extreme version of a ride pokemon, with an entire galleon on it's back, complete with sails and cannons. It could even be a unique evolution method for wailmer involving a pokemon based on pirates, privateers, or the navy. It could have a crew!
There are already pokemon cohabbing with other pokemon in sprites (Dragapult using its base evo as ammo, Mantine with remoraid under its fins) Imagine an alpha-ish Wailord with a bunch of Wingull on its back that function as the crew of a galleon. The wingull pick parasites and stuff off of Wailord, Wailord is a mobile perch/roost out in the vast ocean. they help each other find fish and defend each other in battle with the Ally pokemon function brought back from Sun/Moon.
maybe a regional mantine or 3rd evo? i know a manta becoming a shark is a little weird but they are closely related and mantine already has the remora concept taken
I'd like if the glasses fish was a split evolution. Like, instead of first going deep, then high, you either go deep and high. also that explains how the second stage is thinner but the first one is thicker than the base form.
I feel like they're going to do mainly spanish inspiration with some Portuguese influenced designs in the DLC (which is kind of inevitable, let's be honest) like they did with the Crown Tundra and SwSh
Since im Portuguese i was thinking of a pokémon based on a famous legend of a past king, D.Sebastião, basically he dissapeared/died in a war and because of that, Spain was able to conqueour Portugal for a while, and legend says that some day on a foggy morning, the king shall return to save the country of all of its problems. So...a fog ghost warrior would be really neat idea with this concept imo
I'd like to think the first telescar to evolve was like "screw the ocean. I want to go to space." And just yeeted itself into space. Shooting out of the water like a missle.
Funny that GameFreak didn't utilize ANY of these ideas bc they'd have been really cool (except "Wag", which I thought you were going to mention "Cannibark" or something. Good thing you know how to stay monetized).
Paldean Swirlix can stay pure Fairy, but Slurpuff should pick up Fire or Grass, owing to the cacao being a plant, or the Spanish cocoa having plant-based spices.
i actually made in the past a portuguese man-o-war galleon fakemon lol though it was poison/electric, it called Colonellon, mixing Galleon, Colonel and Colony not only referencing the portuguese colonies that travelled across the world but also the fact that man-o-wars are colony animals itself of several small individual organisms in one body.
I feel like Rasguetar's babies should be its pre-evolved form called Dedpihar. I also feel like these guys would be really good candidates for the Sound typing. Like maybe they would be Sound/Water?
I could see a sentient glasses Pokémon that’s ghost and ground and it bonds with humans by helping them see it sleeps on their faces Like how swablu sits on people’s heads Spectralcles is the name I’d call it
Huh. That could be interesting. And expanding further, it grants enhanced sight to people it bonds with, but for opponents, it clamps onto them and disorients them.
@@michaelnelson1127 Spectralcles is what I’d call it I have a lot of fakemon ideas but since I don’t have a million subs they just collect dust in my notebooks lol
@@madnessarcade7447 Nice. Although maybe trim the name to Spectracles; the extra “l” makes it harder to say. Also maybe try to find a kind of animal to pair the concept with?
Regional slurpuff should be fire type since it's based on hot chocolate, which not only is served warm, but also apparently is spicy in spain. I think it should gain this type when it evolves from a pure normal type regional swirlix.
the calendar idea you proposed gave me an idea of a regional klinklang, but styled as a clock. i think that would do wonders for it, still in keeping with the gears of the original idea but solidifying it with a specific mechanism for the gears
Oh my God, I've had the idea of a Water/Ghost Man-O-War jellyfish Pokémon for so long! I'm so glad someone else had a similar idea. Mine was basically a spirit that possessed a shipwreck and also had a bit of kraken inspiration as well.
These were all excellent ideas. Paldean Cinccino and the entire Specory line were my favorites, and I also really liked Paldean Swirlix and Moan-A-Guar / Moanavio. Speaking of the latter, I think Ghost / Poison could be an interesting type combination to set it apart. No Pokémon has had that type combination since Gengar, and given that Hisuian Qwilfish didn't need to be Water type, I think that could work for this, too.
1:40 Actually, though Manuel Jalón patented it, the actual inventors were Julia Rodríguez-Maribona and her mother Julia Montoussé Frages. Unfortunately, due to legal technicisms (they registered it as an utility model but not as an invention patent) they were never recognised as the inventors. es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Rodr%C3%ADguez-Maribona
Those are some great designs for fish Pokémon, I should mention the barrel-eye can rotate its eyes to point forward, don't know if it's relevant though 😅
Fun Fact: Spanish has to rhotic sounds(r sounds). While everyone knows the trilled/rolled r(trilled is the IPA term(IPA Symbol: r)) Spanish also has a tapped r(IPA Symbol: ɾ) which is exactly the same except for the fact that it is only done for less time. The tapped rhotic ɾ is also used more than the trilled rhotic r.
Heyo! Spanish person here! All of thid concepts for fakemon i find really cool! I cant believe you managed to make a mon even out of a lollypop (slurpuff has to be my fave regional form in this tbh) i also didnt know here in spain we imvented glasses, people reslly like to talk about the mop and stuff but i have never heard thrm bringing up such an important invention! If you are doing anothe rinstance of this video id definitely recommend a submarine pokemon, if im not wrong it was invented in Cartagena, Murcia. Anyways great video!
As an Latinoamericano, I can't express how INLOVE I'm with these ideas. They are just revolutionary and I can't comprehend how you came up with it, I was so oblivious of the many inventions from the iberian peninsula
Moan-a-guar might be my favorite fakemon from this video, it's clearly supposed to invoke a ship without falling into the problem of literally being a ship. It's amazing and I'd absolutely use it on a team
There's a town in Spain which has a very popular festival were people through tomatoes at each other that could be a pokemon also, alternate name for Specory, Corniabora.
You were talking about ships and ghosts, how about a regional shape for Dhelmise? It seems logical and appropriate to me considering that this is a ghost algae taking over the parts of a shipwreck
I'd say psychic/normal for the slurpuff regional variant. It's abilities can have a psychological effect but it's not exactly "psychic" I can imagine it'd still be able to learn a lot of status inflicting moves too, but none the attack based ones, as if it's using its flavor, or maybe as a lick attack?

@@ZephyCluster Im thinking about the potential of a whale shark with a crew of remoras, maybe having moves similar to vespiquen's orders
maybe a regional mantine or 3rd evo? i know a manta becoming a shark is a little weird but they are closely related and mantine already has the remora concept taken
Omfg the telescope fish looks like a cheesy 90's movie monster costume *I LOVE IT*
I'd like if the glasses fish was a split evolution. Like, instead of first going deep, then high, you either go deep and high. also that explains how the second stage is thinner but the first one is thicker than the base form.

Thank you for showing me this adorable critter.
As a portuguese I appreciate your effort on pronunciations 😉
edit: I might start pronouncing some words like you did 😂. Návio was hilarious
The Man O' War is an animal I've wanted to see as a pokemon ever since I learned about it. :)
The German name for a man-o-war is "portuguese galley" so the ship-theme fits well
Wag's design is weirdly wholesome for a jokemon.
Love the new look for you Lockstin! Super simplified but still accurate!
I'd like to think the first telescar to evolve was like "screw the ocean. I want to go to space." And just yeeted itself into space. Shooting out of the water like a missle.
7:15 - 9:03 Well, we got this one! with Tatsugiri!
"To strum its wiggly bits" ... I'm struggling right now 😂🤣
Funny that GameFreak didn't utilize ANY of these ideas bc they'd have been really cool (except "Wag", which I thought you were going to mention "Cannibark" or something. Good thing you know how to stay monetized).
Paldean Swirlix can stay pure Fairy, but Slurpuff should pick up Fire or Grass, owing to the cacao being a plant, or the Spanish cocoa having plant-based spices.
i actually made in the past a portuguese man-o-war galleon fakemon lol
though it was poison/electric, it called Colonellon, mixing Galleon, Colonel and Colony
not only referencing the portuguese colonies that travelled across the world but also the fact that man-o-wars are colony animals itself of several small individual organisms in one body.
I feel like Rasguetar's babies should be its pre-evolved form called Dedpihar. I also feel like these guys would be really good candidates for the Sound typing. Like maybe they would be Sound/Water?
The man-of-war could be named "Caravetasma" it's "Caravela Portuguesa" (man-of-war) and "fantasma" (ghost) combined
Fantasvela or Fantasmela would fit better in my opinion
I don't know why but when you mentioned galleons I was thinking "Oh this could be a rival pokémon for Drednaw"
I could see a sentient glasses Pokémon that’s ghost and ground and it bonds with humans by helping them see it sleeps on their faces
Like how swablu sits on people’s heads
Spectralcles is the name I’d call it
Huh. That could be interesting. And expanding further, it grants enhanced sight to people it bonds with, but for opponents, it clamps onto them and disorients them.
@@michaelnelson1127 that’s a good idea
@@michaelnelson1127 Spectralcles is what I’d call it
I have a lot of fakemon ideas but since I don’t have a million subs they just collect dust in my notebooks lol
@@michaelnelson1127 and it has a preevolution that’s pure ghost type and it’s called Boonicle
At 16:28, for the calculator it could be a regional Metagross. It's already a supercomputer, and we have Hisuian Goodra.
Actually Rasgueo is a pretty wide spread guitar technique in spain and is what gives theyr traditinal music that iconic sound.
The fact that they are doing a region based on my conutry (and Spain)is so unreal.
Those are some great designs for fish Pokémon, I should mention the barrel-eye can rotate its eyes to point forward, don't know if it's relevant though 😅
For the Swirlix and Slurpuff, have it start as Fairy/Normal (or maybe pure Fairy), but then have it becomes Fairy/Fire.
6:48 at my college in my Astronomy class, we actually have our lectures inside of a planetarium and it's really cool!
The Güiro fact and the mention of my home Island made my day. Its the small things, also cool video
You know what, i think you kinda predict it, Telescar looks similar to Veluza a water/Psychic type fish pokemon
I'm Spanish and this is the first time I ever hear about spicy things added to our hot chocolate. Sounds... Sinful
god, I wish Game Freak would hire Lockstin for the future Games, since he's so good ay mixing concepts
Man, those fish Pokemon are so cool. I would totally use one if they were real. Here's hoping they make something similar.
The real telescope fish looks more like a Pokémon than Telescar does
Didn’t know how much I wanted that chinchinno variant until now
I like the fish one, pretty original idea, not enough vision based pokemon
"Coming out in about half a year", huh ? Well that's funny, I thought they would come out in less than 2 months. Curious how time works...
Moan-A-Guar would definitely have some sort of rivalry with Jellicent.
"Strum its wiggly bits." OH GOD NO
That guitar fish, would actually be among my favorite pokemon of all time, bravo, it is not very easy to impress me.
Dam'n it, I want the Galagic line to be canon now.
Just gonna mention with how much the spanish did Sea Exploration, a ship based pokemon would be sick
Rhyhorn’s head always had a sort of staple remover look to it, so maybe a regional variant of it and its evolutions could be steel type.
If we get a new cinccino, i'd be really happy.
Moan-a-guarr/ Moanavio is definitely my favorite from these fakemon!
For the Swirlix/Slurpuff fairy/psychic works, but when it evolves it should learn a lot of fire moves and scald
Ah yes November is half a year away.
Hot damn, these ideas are fantastic. It will be a shame if Pokemon like these don't appear in Scarlet and Violet in one way or another.
I love how Lockstin's trying to roll the spanish r and still gracefully gets a kind of french one.
