- In today's video, we will take a deep dive into the captivating history of Formula One in Vietnam. From its ambitious inception to the challenges it has faced, we will explore the design and construction of the circuit, discuss what went wrong, and speculate on the possibility of the race returning in 2024. So, let's rev up the engines and dive into the fascinating story of Vietnam in Formula One!
There are possibilities that Vietnam could potentially be selected as a host for the 2024 Formula One World Championship, as indicated by a report from the Formula 1 news site Grandprix. According to the report, Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of F1 Group, has held discussions with officials from Hanoi and Vietnam regarding the prospect of organizing a race in the country next year. Grandprix mentioned that Vietnam is considered a "strong candidate" to be included in the 2024 F1 calendar.
5:30 You kind of failed to mention the main reason it didn't go ahead in 2021 though. This video completely glosses over the fact that Vietnam had already spent all of the money for the 2020 Grand Prix when it was cancelled. They took a massive loss and literally did not have enough money to maintain the track for the 2021 race. They literally could not run the 2021 race. The only way they'll ever return is if F1 waives the hosting fee for the first year, so Vietnam can recoup some of the losses from 2020.
Great to know!
Umm covid was used as the reason it was cancelled, but it hide the major of Hanoi , who son was part of the organisation that $5 million went missing from the funds. He was jailed for 5 years !!! , F1 did want to be involved
I think F1 should host the race themselves like they did in Las Vegas. I know they don't own the land here but a lot of the groundwork has already been done and I don't think it would take much for F1 to come in and foot the bill to get it race ready.
It was so satisfying to drive this track on F1 2020, track felt like a mix of Monaco and Baku.
interesting, i absolutely disliked racing there in F1 2020
@@allolx
same
two turns, massive straight 180 turn another straigth hairpin right corner wobbles that you had to chain together perfectly two rights and all over again
boring and uneventful
+ as shown in the video, it's all "copy & past" circuit. Tilke lack of imagination should question his ability of creating new tracks. This also leads to a frightning uniformization of racing tracks. Typically german mentality. We'll end up with a mandatory layout all over the world in 10 or 20 years from now...
I just wanna see a race there
Why, awful track
Said noone outside of Vietnam
@@Kingfuture35542 I drove lap and a half around that sorry excuse of space waste in F1 2020. After that, I said F it, and simulated the rest of the weekend.
After I heard, that the race was canceled and not soon after booted from the calendar completely, I said, good riddance, even though it didn't host even one race.
You remember South Korean GP back in 2011, when the drivers criticized the pit exit spitting straight to racing line?
Yeah. This piece of garbage has the same, but even worse. It's in a curve, that should never seen the light of day.
@@1989SupraGuyFIN I used to purposely retire, I hated every turn on that god awful piece of asphalt
I agree better than Miami
Great video, you deserve more subs and should blow up soon. It would take a lot of work to bring it back up to scratch and would need re certification most likely from the FIA.
Thank you so much!
As a Vietnamese, I really hope F1 can be comeback Hanoi Circuit
come back? just arrive first :D
3 days after your video, formula 1 published the 2024's calendar, and vietnam isn't a part of it.
Honestly, i over 90% pessimistic about the Formula 1® race at Vietnam. For the Formula E, the answer is yes.
For me, the only piece of circuit I utterly despise more than the third sector here is the entire Saudi Arabia circuit. Its far too narrow, far too complex for how tight it is and just plain dangerous. I always removed this from my F1 game careers.
yes i always found a way to have to use a flashback in that sector during practice programs
I drove both tracks, vietnam on the 2020 and saudi on 2022 game
with the right setup. saudi is super enjoyable and flowing
vietnam was just too boring, basically drs straigths and super tight S3
nice video. i have subscribed.
Thank you!
I really hope to see a race in Vietnam next year!
Just wish it would happen so that I could come and see the cars in the flesh for the first time in my life.
The race venue is only 30km away from my hometown
"Only 30 km away"? Wow! 😮
@@RadityaPramanaPutra2001had it happened as planned in 2020, I could have walked to see the race
Was living next to the track and saw it being built day by day back then.
@@Karozy4869where are you live in Hanoi?
at least they got some nice new roads
Like Vietnam F1 Real Life Soon Coming And Video Game
Very good video 👍 Keep it up
Stolen video, if you wanna do a video and someone already did it atleast try to make a different thumbnail
As a vietnamese, i would not like to see that track on calendar but instead another track in vietnam that track was horrible plus those roads always busy so turning it into a track will cause loads of traffic problems they should build the track somewhere else instead right in the capital just saying
Good news to all this tracks' haters, the Hanoi track is officially closed, Vingroup shut down the F1 track manager and it's no longer used except for some small events
What?? The 2024 Formula 1 schedule is already out and there is NO race listed in Vietnam.
I liked racing there on f1 2020...
The track has way too many blind corners with no run-off. That makes them dangerous!
And that is what I hate the most about street circuits...
I went to the track last year and half the track is fenced off and overgrown
FAI owe the return of the race to the people of Vietnam.
Are we sure Tilke is a great track maker? That guy has been copying the same circuits for years.. Its like tracing and picture and being proud of what you "drew"
Yes, if the answer is three words: Sepang, Bahrain, and Istanbul.
I don’t think this is going to happen since the new schedule is already out for 2024
I bought tickets for this race right at the start-finish line and booked a hotel. Then the shit happened... at least I got my money back... eventually.
Actually, i pessimistic about the Formula 1® race at Vietnam. South Korea is failed, and India is failed. Malaysia, China, Singapore, and Japan is enough for me, despite I really want Formula 1® to be back to both South Korea and India one day later.
09/07/2023 13:49.
wasn't their a huge ten lane highway with no traffic, that would be the perfect venue like norisring or was it avus style.
Maybe in 2025 since they’d no Vietnam GP in 2024
Im suprised i didint know that there was a f1 circuit in viet nam i live in viet nam no kiding
The grand prix that never was
The history of F-1 in Vietnam is there is no history of F-1 in Vietnam
Beats me. I always wanted to see a race in the Vietnamese soil.
That Vin Group is sketchy like F. They launched a $70k electric SUV that’s so abhorrent. What are they thinking?
Completely forgot that this was suppose to be a thing.
I believe it is not worth it for Vietnam or any developing countries to hold F1 races. The amount of money they have to pay F1 is way too high. It is better to spend on something more beneficial for their country.
the F1 calandar for 2024 is long out. No Vietnam
If China rejects their 2024 Grand Prix (again) Vietnam should take it’s place
It should be Malaysia tbh
@@coronwhite3095 malaysia don't have enough money to host malaysian gp
@@longthanh7347Vietnam doesn’t have enough money to host a Vietnamese Grand Prix either…
I've still got my tickets 😂
A Tilka track? Count me out.
I think Austin is great
@@dominik13579 Yes, i agree.
He gets more hate than he deserves. The reason he gets picked is. His firm has the plans for the pit building and he knows all the requirements the F1 needs. Like how can he be blamed for stuff like Shochi? Hi Herman. Fit an F1 track between all the olympic venues we built. Or Yas Marina. The track must go through our hotel! Shit like that.
@@cabobs2000 At least, Yas Marina's current layout is more better than the original layout, especially because they get rid of the chicane.
dominicalli hoping to get Vietnam back on the calender ? you guys know thats the same guy wanting germany back on the calender but still sticking to this abnormal entry fees for tracks to host the race this won't happen and to those saying uhh germany is gready or so no our track owners know how economy works and that they don't want to get bankrupt again
They should ditch Miami for Vietnam.
Maybe don’t steal thumbnails and videos bud
tbh I think this is the worst street circuit in F1 2020, I'm glad it's not on the calendar anymore
3:54 *2019
Imagine the top speed💀
This is not good in the Vietnam Grand Prix.
why Vietnam, of all places? what is this? the track should be built somewhere where the local population can actually maintain it...
Why copying when you can race the original circuits? it’s so funny
Vietnam one of the most dangerous circuit street circuit dangerous and complicate circuit and difficult driving is on Overstreer circuit
The Grand Prix that nobody actually wanted. And thankfully never happened. Possibly the worst ever layout for an f1 track. Certainly the worst i've ever driven on an F1 game.
Not interested with skinny design. Plus too many hairpin corner and straight line.
Dude you are repeating yourself way too much, could have shorten the video down to half the length
Hermann Tilke, not Tilka
Think Liberty realised they already had a calender plagued with dead street tracks that provide no entertainment and finally came too their senses and binned it.
Monaco and Miami to be binned off next 🤞
miami sure, monaco no
So much $ wasted, unreal.
no offense..
all tilke design are boring circuit
What a wasted of money!!!
If Herman Tilke made it, its a bad track.
he can make a good track, sepang, istanbul park, bahrain, but then there's some awful tracks such as abu dhabi
@@revs7837 At least, Abu Dhabi have a new layout which more interesting than the old one.
On my opinion, the worst Hermann Tilke's track is Sochi and Hanoi. Abu Dhabi's 2009-2020 layout was not so great too, but on my opinion that's because the chicane (old Turn 4-5-6 that have used in 2009-2020 seasons).
❤❤❤❤verry nice...
