Really miss F1 weekends at Sepang. It's a great spectators' track. Plenty of fond memories sitting at different spots around the circuit. Particularly sitting on the hill next to the F Grandstand during the rain soaked 2001(?) GP...we were drenched, but the race was unforgettable. Fingers crossed we see F1 return here. A night race would be epic!
As a Malaysian, I became a fan in 2019 and i just found out that there were f1 races here before 2017. I hope F1 can return to my home country and i could maybe watch it at the stands for the experiecence.

also during that period, F1 was dominated by 1 team, that is Mercedes, which is also one of the reason, the attendance drop that mention by the organiser. Some Malaysian F1 fans want excitement which motogp can provide that. They don't want a boring race. Paid huge money to attend the race but boring.
@@madkhaliqfarhan Agreed. The best thing from Sepang circuit is the unpredictable weather which makes the circuit challenging and fun. This can only happen during daytime instead of nighttime.
I wish I had gone there when the race was still running, but I was just a kid (or a broke student at the end). I'm in Singapore and the night race is fun but having a proper purpose-built circuit next door to us was awesome.
I watched some of the Asian Le Man Series racing there this weekend and was hoping that one day we will see F1 return to Sepang, such an awesome track for Grand Prix cars.
The problem with the Malaysia circuit is not the track or thethe supporters of the race. it's the broken F1 bussinesses model. Unless you have heavy government backing or oil money you cannot afford to put on a race weekend because no one can afford the tickets which would way to much for anyone to afford. T he only reason some European tracks like Monaco can still hold a race is because of the special deal they have with F1 that caps the price F1 can charger them for holding the event. Even these special deal will eventually be done away with and there will be no more European races. It's only a matter of time before Spa is gone, and god knows what bloody aweful street circuit it will be replaced with. The number of people watch might be up right now but the sport is dying a slow death. At some point, people will get board of the americanization of the sport watching these magnificent cars chasing each other around totally unsuitable street tracks, I know I have and really don't watch the sport anymore. When your stuck watching races at crap tracks like Miami, Aubu Dhab,Jeddah and Vegas while great circuits like Sepang , Mangy Cours and Nurburgring, China, and Turkey get left out. Then thete is the rediculous gimmicks like DRS , sprint races that make some races worth more than others, and the rediculous tire manufacturing rules that have turned the sport onto a tire endurance series rather than a car performance series. The sport is almost on life suport but no one is paying any attention while the money keeps rolling into Liberties pockets. One day that will stop then what.
It's the same reason Buriram is unlikely to host F1 even tho Albon is on the grid. Also Singapore GP's attraction is not even the race itself, but the concert. I've known people around the region who bought tickets just to watch the concert, and don't even watch the race.
Honestly tho, they also tried to bring their good share of musical arts in Sepang. Back in 2015, they tried to attract more audiences by inviting famous K-pop acts. They brought the most famous K-pop girl group at the time, Girls Generation to the Malaysian GP. They also had Shinee. If I just had money and had a job at the time I would really go there. It’s not the same scale as Singapore GP tho, they always get to invite a bigger number of acts of different genres. It’s what sets Singapore GP apart from Malaysia
As not just a spectator but frequent track day enthusiast at Sepang, I can say that it remains in good condition, ready at any time to host races. Please come back. 🙏
I just went to the 4 hours asian le mans today which is at sepang. The track is a beauty and always offer exciting racing. Yes its very disappointing to see f1 arent racing here anymore (considering the fact that hosting f1 is the main reason the track is built at the first place) and instead we get three races a year at us (which is too many) that just cause more and more dissatisfaction among fans
I wish more foreign viewers would flock to see races in Sepang with the weakening Ringgit. Only you guys could keep races here alive because we can't afford the ticket anymore...
Pisses me off that we have to race on dead tracks like Miami but great ones like Sepang are not even in talks to return. Street tracks are killing racing.
Im a malaysian when i was 3 it was 2017 the last malaysian grand prix now my uncle works for formula 1 team petronas and we got 4 free tickets i begged to go bc at the time i was already a fan but i never got to go.

Ps;I attended this last gp 2017 with my friend and now she is my wife . the day i realised i fell in love with this woman. The day i realised shes the one. The memories that ill never forget. Also on our return to our car we got summon from police 🤣
I would love for F1 to come back to my home country. The track is great for racing with the weather being unpredictable. But money is definitely the main reason why it's not returning anytime soon. It's a shame ngl
Making it a night race could very well be the solution, it would change the atmosphere completely. If they made the tickets a bit cheaper to get more asses on seats, it would be a proper festival.
Here’s why it’s possible. A night race on a purpose built circuit. Add in the fact that rain is possible, you want drama for to attract new fans and want it naturally to appeal to the hardcore? There you go.
as Indonesian who watch MotoGP on Sepang multiple time, I love Sepang for their convenience cause Mandalika is so far from west java also it's quite expensive too
A lot of people commented on how expensive it was, but as an Aussie, I found it to be one of the cheapest options in my area when I went in 2014. The entire package (entry, flights, accommodation, etc.) costs less than half the price of going to either Singapore or Melbourne. Plus, where else could a taxi drop you off right at the back of the grandstand!!
It may not be an F1 car but I still am grateful to be presented the opportunity to drive on the Sepang Circuit on track days! It really is a beautiful and challenging layout for any form of motorsports.
A Malaysian here. Personally thinking, since the F1 fanbase is slowly growing (thanks to DTS), I think more people would attend if the ticket prices are lower than what it were before. Since it's closer to Malaysians and if the tickets are cheaper, I think more people would come and attend the F1 races held there.
Great track sadly missed .... unfortunately though whilst we have the circus that is the Singapore GrandPrix there will be no space for the Malaysian GrandPrix.
As a Malaysian, the main reason why Sepang didnt work was mainly due to the ticket price. it made no sense for me to pay that much. Due to some corruption, we ended up just watching it at home. I love this track and miss it till this day
Sepang got abandoned because of the price of the ticket, most local that are interested can't really afford it, the tourist are interested can't go to there or didn't bother to go because of lack of transportation
I really hope that F1 would be held there again. It is one of the best circuit out there. Though the weather is kinda challenging, but that makes it more interesting to watch F1.
Tracks like Sepang, Hockenheim shod be back in the calendar. Get rid off Miami and Vegas. We dont want both the tracks as its jus the money and not racing. Your videos are making an impact and i hope it draws the attention of FOM, to consider. You might actually look like a representative for us loyal f1 fans. Thanks
Vegas was decent, and if it works in the long run we could see F1 host more events by itself and then go to Africa (f1 wants to go to Africa at some point, and if they hosted the event themselfs, it would be alot easier).
Unfortunately as the saying goes: money talks and bullshit walks. The cost to run an F1 race is costing millions and the Malaysian government knows this. Plus with Malaysia being two-wheeled crazy that's not going to happen in the long run
@@Lappali but firstly liberty media wants tracks in New York and other places in the US. Talks have been going on abt Africa but I feel unfortunately liberty media might close the case as they did once. We wanna se how Vietnam gp would've been. But again the liberty media ignored it. It's cruel
Not to mention ,Our rising star nikita mazepin got his first win in Race 1 Asia Le Man series on last saturday and the race it was a more chaos than sunday when the heavy rain came in the final 30 minutes eventually got red flagged. Ngl those car were very quick especially at Turn 5-6 and Turn 13-14 ,kinda resemble a roller coaster.
I think with the rising popularity of F1 now, if Sepang returns to the calendar, it would bring in more spectators than before. Here’s hoping that it happens soon, because it is realistically my only chance of attending an F1 race 🥲
It is very heartbroken. Never interested in F1 before but aftee Covid F1 seems like exhilarating races for me. I would love to see F1 racing in Sepang now.
I absolutely agreed with night F1 race. Even without F1 at the moment but Sepang international circuit are not abandoned but full house almost everyday with plenty of trackday, domestic and international racing events. I already went three trackday myself this year alone, what a spectacular experience SIC.
Just last week I watched the two 4-Hour Mutli-class races of the Asian Le Mans Series and the racing was great. Many corners hve more than one line that can be taken. Even the first three corners are often a side-by-side drag race! I would love to see it back on the F1 schedule.
Why? Because: i. Boring race at the beginning of the race calendars. Singapore GP is at the last few races of the calender. Thus it is more exciting to watch and crucial for deciding driver's World Championship points. In fact, Malaysia MotoGP is at the end of the calender too. ii. 5:56 Since 1999 until 2017, lack of trees for shading at the open stand. It's too hot to watch 2pm race at Sepang. Nothing has been done to improve the open stand. iii. Expensive ticket sales, unless you purchase the non-shaded open ticket. And most crowds got free/sponsored tickets but they only watch the first 30 minutes of the race. Then they left the circuit.
I live about 70km away from the SepangF1 Circuit. Watched the first 2 F1 races held there 99’ & 2000. Turn 1 i always awesome. Chose to the higher level seats at the K1 stand as you could see about 60% of the track. Then they had JapanGT races which i was in the grandstands and paddock area. Icing on the cake was riding my time trial bike TTbike there at night. You’re right a night race would be really great but the infrastructure like parking area surrounding the track is not safe at night as the track was built on a palm oil estate and still surrounded by palm oil trees. It would take alot of money to upgrade it which I don’t think they would want to upgrade it with lights and safety features because only time it’ll be fully used is during an F1 race or motorGP race. There rest of the racing series we have here doesn’t pull in attendance. Unless the Government develops the area surrounding with townships and houses and population then it’ll be worth it. The track still needs alot of upgrading to be up to FIA specifications and that will be alot to spend.
Hi, I a Malaysian & attended the first race in 1999. Everybody was expecting a wet race, thus many brought raincoats. However, it was hot & blazing day and I regretted not bringing an umbrella, which would fit a rainy or sunny day. I remembered Michael Schumacher, with Mika behind him, driving so slow at every corners and sped up at straights, just to build up space between Irvine (whom is leading) and both of them. And I could clearly see Mika raising his fist, perhaps angry at Michael's antics. And the engine's sound and vibration was much better in 1999 compared to 2013 (my final attendance at Sepang). Without an earplug, or anything to plug the ear, perhaps one could be a deaf for a week.
Just back from the Moto GP event. The track is brilliant, KL is cheap, affordable and has a brilliant food culture. But, there is always a but, management of the crowd and traffic outside the circuit is nothing short of chaotic, a single point of entry into the track and poor public transport options means it took over 2 hours after the event for our pre booked taxi to actually get to us. Congestion, random road closures and lots of whistling and baton waving Police didn't help. Attendance at the event hit 90,000+ on race day. If F1 wants to go back the organisers need to look at the blockers that deters spectators and drive ticket sales.
Who want to see F1 races now? Youngsters more interested in "Mat Rempit" races {motor cycles, soup up cars) midnight on highways, doing all kind of racing stunts regularly weekends. I am Malaysian sure know lah.
the ticket sales is low because it's relatively expensive for the locals, the purchasing power of people over here is very low compare to those in western countries
Need a lot of private smaller sponsors and various event to be held at the same time, like how Paris Olympic is made to become the smallest cost of Olympic hosting ever. It’s just a matter of calculations to keep cost low too so ticket prices can be made low as well. It needs various ingenious ideas layered on top of another to pull this through. I believe the reopening will be a spectacular event and sought after in terms of attendance because a lot of people are waiting for it, not just locals but internationals will be flocking in. They need to do research of how much people are willing to pay, before they say nope, I am not going.
I think it`s all down to money and/or Politics. The Indian circuit was a great track too, but they only raced that three times, and the old Hockenheim circuit was a lot better than the short version they sudenly made. Imola was out for several years, but has come back. Since Formuls 1 was bought by Liberty Media, an American company, they`ve established 3 races in America, and thus............other circuits has to go, and the way they do that, is to charge the circuits, astronomical amounts to host the race, which most circuits can`t afford, and so.............new tracks emerge like, Saudi-Arabia, Las Vegas, Qatar, Miami, and thanks to Max Verstappen`s success.......Zandvoort is back too, and all these new circuits can afford the outrageous price they charge.........🤔 I miss some of the old tracks, but that`s the way it goes............🤗

I always liked this gp. Also the weather is unpredicatble what adds a lot of extra suprise elements to a race. Also the track flows really good and its a very nice track
Literally just rewatch the highlights of the last Malaysian GP , impeccable timing
Superb!
I'm still praying that F1 may come back one day cause the Malaysian GP was my first ever F1 experience introducing me to this wonderful world of motor racing.
Thank you for the great views of sepang f1 circuit! We still wish f1 would come back and at affordable ticket price especially at the grandstands.
MotoGP races here prove how F1 shouldn't have left here
F1 tickets are like 3-4 times more expensive than MotoGP
@d1want34 that's true. The price difference between the British Grand Prix tickets and British Motorcycle Grand Prix Tickets is insane
@@d1want34 F1 is branded as luxury while motogp is more like racing based

As a Malaysian, I became a fan in 2019 and i just found out that there were f1 races here before 2017. I hope F1 can return to my home country and i could maybe watch it at the stands for the experiecence.
I thought I saw this video before, but I didn't. You did nearly identical video about Malaysia 3 years ago! You must really miss it :( I think it'd be great to go back. Cheers 🥂
I really miss this race. The Malaysian Grand Prix was always great fun and and absolute highlight on the calendar.
also during that period, F1 was dominated by 1 team, that is Mercedes, which is also one of the reason, the attendance drop that mention by the organiser. Some Malaysian F1 fans want excitement which motogp can provide that. They don't want a boring race. Paid huge money to attend the race but boring.
I love this circuit. Never a dull race. Miss it loads. Great video thank you 👍
As a fan of your channel. Thank you for covering this. Hoping Malaysian GP to be back ❤
Holding it at night would be good as it’s part of ASEAN and as an ASEAN resident things tend to get hot in here
I hope it returns as a night race. Its too hot during the daytime.
But it's always the best during the daytime! It allows photographers to take more and more high quality photos!
@@madkhaliqfarhan Agreed. The best thing from Sepang circuit is the unpredictable weather which makes the circuit challenging and fun. This can only happen during daytime instead of nighttime.
@@splendid96 Besides, the pictures of racecars under the sun will always remind me of my childhood!
Sepang us my favourite circuit. Its an absolute art
I wish I had gone there when the race was still running, but I was just a kid (or a broke student at the end). I'm in Singapore and the night race is fun but having a proper purpose-built circuit next door to us was awesome.
Yes! Make it a night race! i literally have the same idea when i first saw the circuit and before you even mentionioning it.
I miss this circuit so bad.
Same 😞
It's the same reason Buriram is unlikely to host F1 even tho Albon is on the grid. Also Singapore GP's attraction is not even the race itself, but the concert. I've known people around the region who bought tickets just to watch the concert, and don't even watch the race.
It's always the people who hate F1 that can easily get F1 tickets for free and ruin the experience for us! 😤
The Sepang track isn't abandoned, it was recently used for the Asian Le Mans series. Please don't bait the audience for views.
by F1, title and thumbnail includes F1. You baited yourself?
Im a malaysian when i was 3 it was 2017 the last malaysian grand prix now my uncle works for formula 1 team petronas and we got 4 free tickets i begged to go bc at the time i was already a fan but i never got to go.
i remember how excited i was when finally i got a chance to attend the f1 race also the last gp in Malaysia. Always grateful that for once in my life i attended an f1 race!

Sepang was amazing. When it was in the rain season it was carnage (in a good way)
Learned something today I don’t even know the Sepang circuit has been out of the F1 calendar since 2017.
There you go.
as Indonesian who watch MotoGP on Sepang multiple time, I love Sepang for their convenience cause Mandalika is so far from west java also it's quite expensive too
To be honest, on top of the motorcycle culture, the sound of the V6 engine in 2014 kills the passion for some casual fans to watch the race.
It's such a shame that F1 don't race in Sepang anymore, since MotoGP still races there and the races produced by the track are phenomenal.
Since it's closer to Malaysians and if the tickets are cheaper, I think more people would come and attend the F1 races held there.
yes, if it had gone for the rupees, it would have been worth a lot!
As an American, I’d 100% rather this track be back on the calendar than any of the Miami or Las Vegas abominations
Great track sadly missed .... unfortunately though whilst we have the circus that is the Singapore GrandPrix there will be no space for the Malaysian GrandPrix.
1:57 Look how small the McLaren looks, compared to the longer Ferrari!! 😮
I'm a Malaysian, and I love F1, I attended the last 2 races there! Amazing track hope it returns soon!
Funny enough, my goal in life is to be able to race my friend in this circuit using our cars
Go ahead. I'd love to race against you too! As a Malaysian myself, you better let me win!
As a Malaysian, the main reason why Sepang didnt work was mainly due to the ticket price. it made no sense for me to pay that much. Due to some corruption, we ended up just watching it at home. I love this track and miss it till this day
Flew out from the int’l airport today near the circuit, made me wonder about F1 here - a real timely upload!
Sepang got abandoned because of the price of the ticket, most local that are interested can't really afford it, the tourist are interested can't go to there or didn't bother to go because of lack of transportation
Sepang was always one of my favorite F1 races there was an endurance race there a couple weeks ago and it was great to see it once again
It's cruel

@@vi14753 the only country that I can realistic see holding an F1 race is Egypt
Not to mention ,Our rising star nikita mazepin got his first win in Race 1 Asia Le Man series on last saturday and the race it was a more chaos than sunday when the heavy rain came in the final 30 minutes eventually got red flagged. Ngl those car were very quick especially at Turn 5-6 and Turn 13-14 ,kinda resemble a roller coaster.
Sepang Night Race would be insane, totally make a trip from Melbourne to see that, maybe get to see two GP's in one year for the first time 😅
I think with the rising popularity of F1 now, if Sepang returns to the calendar, it would bring in more spectators than before. Here’s hoping that it happens soon, because it is realistically my only chance of attending an F1 race 🥲
It is very heartbroken. Never interested in F1 before but aftee Covid F1 seems like exhilarating races for me. I would love to see F1 racing in Sepang now.
I'd give up the Singapore GP in a heartbeat if it means Sepang will return
Malaysia missed out on 2018's Drive To Survive market boom , if they held on for 1-2 more years , F1 will still be racing in Sepang for sure
Sepang and Istanbul are the 2 tracks I want back in F1 more than any others
I loved Nürburgring GP also (regular track, not Nordschleiffe obviously). But Malaysian GP was the best!!
Is sad that great circuits are being ignored in favour of dull street circuits !
I'm so lucky to had chances to watch both f1 and motogp..sepang is amazing
As a Malaysian I can guarantee you I have never even heard or seen anyone talk about MotoGP LOL
I absolutely agreed with night F1 race. Even without F1 at the moment but Sepang international circuit are not abandoned but full house almost everyday with plenty of trackday, domestic and international racing events. I already went three trackday myself this year alone, what a spectacular experience SIC.
It was and is an awesome track, and really wish to see it back. Of the new ones I really dislike the Miami track.
Just last week I watched the two 4-Hour Mutli-class races of the Asian Le Mans Series and the racing was great. Many corners hve more than one line that can be taken. Even the first three corners are often a side-by-side drag race! I would love to see it back on the F1 schedule.

Should still be an F1 mainstay. Glad MotoGp still puts on a hell of a show there every year 👍
This is easily Tilke's best circuit and hopefully F1 comes back to it soon.
Best track in the asia/oceanic region
Absolute banger of a track, this and Turkey were the best of the Tilke tracks.
Why? Because:
Race in night time will be a good idea to counter back the hot weather
was here in 2006 for the GP, great circuit for the spectators, lots of spectacular viewing points, sad it's not on the calendar anymore
I too remember michael! definitely incredible !
Such a shame, my Mum and I went to watch a race when I was 5. Now when we drive past the stadium.....it looks abandoned 😔.
"...It was FIRST race in ASIA outside Japan" ---Was thinking if Japan is a Continent
the ticket sales is low because it's relatively expensive for the locals, the purchasing power of people over here is very low compare to those in western countries
I would reallly want this track to come back to f1 but seeing how it is, i guess we wont have my home country race for now-
as an indonesian, in 2016, I flew to Malaysia, to watch the F1 Race in Sepang for the first time
thanks for ur compliment on our country's circuit..
Since Formuls 1 was bought by Liberty Media, an American company, they`ve established 3 races in America, and thus............other circuits has to go, and the way they do that, is to charge the circuits, astronomical amounts to host the race, which most circuits can`t afford, and so.............new tracks emerge like, Saudi-Arabia, Las Vegas, Qatar, Miami, and thanks to Max Verstappen`s success.......Zandvoort is back too, and all these new circuits can afford the outrageous price they charge.........🤔
I miss some of the old tracks, but that`s the way it goes............🤗
