The corpse is 100% Sukuna’s Heian era body, it literally has the same (1:1) deformation on his face. Highly dubious that he’d have a twin rocking the same giant tumor with eyes in the Heian era. Just as Sukuna could not fight Gojo just yet due to the binding vow with Kenjaku, he’d have no choice but to bend over for Kenjaku if the corpse ritual called for it in order to not break the binding vow.

Hmm.. him being a twin makes sense. Kenjaku made yuji to be the reincarnation of twin to ensure his body could be a vessel for sukuna. [Commented before watching so there could be some overlapping points, this is Mostly special grade level yap, I’m cooking tho]
One idea I have is that Yuji and Sukuna are both metaphorically 2 sides of 1 single whole. We know in folklore Sukuna is known as a god with 2 faces- to simplify it- one good, one evil. He’s known in some areas to act as he did in the Heian Era, just wandering around pillaging villages and killing challengers or for fun. In some places tho(including 1 to this day) they worship Sukuna as a merciful, kind god, treating him as they would any other benevolent deity. We even see in the brief flash back to Yorozu met Sukuna- he was in the area during a festival in his honor, a harvest. Although the JJK Sukunas inspiration comes more from an urban legend about a conjoined twin in a Kudoku ritual and a cult leader and shit, the folklore inspo is still clearly there and plays a part in Sukunas underlying character design and such. Regardless, Be it that the Heian era was more brutal and violent, Sukunas “second face” could have been an interpretation of him that the villages who saw Sukuna in a friendlier mood, or it could be the result of time weaving different stories for the sake person-a family Sukuna has beef with will describe him as a demon who pillages and solos your squad. The families who got their opposition deposed by Sukuna for “free” due to pure chance could have written more favorably abt him. The end result is that it seems that there is 2 roles for Sukuna to play and he’s been in his evil play through since day 1.
Yuji is quite literally the opposite of Sukuna and in this case makes him fit perfectly as the second face of Sukuna. I won’t even waste time listing character traits, when it comes to personality, demeanor, disposition and values/goals there’s a good chance Yuji is on the entire opposite side of the spectrum.
To defeat the king of curses, the throne the must be filled by someone. I think it could work narratively and thematically for Yuji to become the king of curses and use that status to help redefine what a curse is, why they exist and how they are used.
Remember as far as we know the only person who understands what a curse truly *is* would be Sukuna himself. If Yuji were to unlock that same understanding, gaining his level of knowledge on the nature of curses(not power level I mean literal understanding of the concept) and using the curses left behind by his loved ones(Junpei, Nobara, Nanami, Higuruma, all cursed Yuji, unintentionally or not) as fuel, it would fit into narrative and thematic relationship between Yuji and Sukuna, but also the entire overarching narrative as well.
This is just me yapping abt an idea I haven’t flashed out yet tho so who knows. Yuji could wake up next to nobara and junpei in the airport next chapter for all we know
