The lines are characteristic of Whedon et al. It only lasted one season because it was betrayed by an evil alliance called Fox which was run by untalented, unintelligent, and incompetent managers (who probably wore blue gloves).
+GameCentral UK I was wondering how that didn't make the list, that's my favorite line along with "Am I the only one that remembers when she tried to kill me with a butcher knife?"
Easily the best scifi show ever, better even than Star Trek. Obviously doomed from the start by its' exceptional production quality, outstanding writing, and the chemistry between the cast members.
I dream of a new series with all the original cast, set in the time between the end of the series and the movie Serenity. So many unanswered questions, so many new possibilities!
Dimitri Sainis Sadly true. However, we might someday see a movie or series placed in the Firefly universe; remember the original Star Trek was cancelled after a few seasons and now look at the franchise!

I think my favorite one is this quote from River: "They weren't cows before. They used to be but they forgot. Now they see sky and remember what they are."

My SGT. said " If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl. If you can't crawl, then get some one to carry you." He said that in 1986. That was and is my favorite quote. And in the same scene, after Mal picked the guy’s pocket, explaining to Inara: “They made the money off of the backs of hard-working sleeps, but don’t worry, he won’t notice until after he’s had his second drink.” Gets tapped on the shoulder by the same guy. Without looking, says “Good drinker, that one!” And turns to fight him, starting a brawl.

Just for those that couldnt fully understand what he said at 6:02 Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Love. You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
Kaylee: Going on a year now I ain't had nothing twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries. Mal: Oh god! I can't know that! Jayne: I could stand to hear a little more. ---- Wash: Oh my god, it's grotesque! Oh, and there's something in a jar. Also, this one might be a blooper, but it's still funny. Mal: Well, my days of not taking you seriously certainly are coming to a middle. Jayne. Dammit, Mal......I forgot my line!
One of my favorite quotes was Zoe "Do you know what the definition of a hero is, someone who gets other people killed. You can look it up later." And Mal's "As I recall an albatross was a ship's good luck til some idiot tried to kill it. Yes, I've read a poem. Try not to faint."
I might have missed it, but I love the part where jane is testing the radio standing next to Mal and he asks if he can here him. Jane " testing... can you hear me " Mal " im standing right here " Jane ' your coming in good and loud " Mal " cuz im staning right here"
I always liked Wash's comment in Our Mrs. Reynolds, "Aww, We always thought you two would get together someday, Who is she again?", or something like that.
The scene where Mal explains the correlation of flying and love to River. Wow. I remember Wash and the feels return for the umpteenth time. Still to this day... my all time favorite show...
I don't often read through the comments on a video, because flame wars start so easily and that can be *so* depressing, but how wonderful it is to read these and see commenters who are all on the same page. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have been as royally entertained reading these comments as I was when watching this great series. With fans like us, Firefly and Serenity will always be there.
Whedon said he never wanted to kill him off, he was one of the characters he said he never would kill off, but ue did it because the show got cancelled.
larmoth401 He did it because he could just like when he killed Fred. I hate you, Whedon! Well, "hate" may be too strong - but I dislike you really a lot. Sometimes.

picking a favorite is hard but one of mine is definitely: "If you take sexual advantage of her, you will go to a very special Hell. one reserved for child molesters, and people who talk in the theater."
The whole series is quotable as hell. Simon(to Jayne)...You're like a trained ape...without the training.. Jayne-I'll be in my bunk.... Mal-If I ever draw on you, you'll be awake, facing me and armed... Mal-Good shot, Jayne Jayne-I was aiming for his head!.... Oh my God that line cracks me up every time!
Bonnie Lambeth I kind of like the leadup a bit more.
Robber: Then maybe a little alone time with the missus there.
Jayne: Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you. See, I married myself a powerful ugly creature.
Mal: Now how can you say that? In front of new people!
Jayne: If I could make you purdier, I would.
Mal: You are not the man I met a year ago.
Kaylee: How come you don't care where you're going?
Book: 'Cause how you get there is the worthier part.

Can't believe nobody's mentioning:
"Why, Banning Miller. What a vision you are in your fine dress. Must have taken a dozen slaves a dozen days to get you into that getup. 'Course your daddy tells me it takes the space of a school boy's wink to get you out of it again. "
Galaxy-level Burn.
"I cannot abide useless people."

"You live on a space ship dear..."

Also the Hero of Caton.
+Michael Laramee The man they call Jaaaaaayne!

"Hmm?"
"What is his job on the ship?"

Yeah, my favorite quote was in there: "My days of not takin' you serious are certainly comin' to a... a middle." - Mal to Jayne. I feel a binge watch coming on.
Just rewatch we or after years and I will be immediately rewatching two or three more times
So many 'favorites', Firefly is one of those shows where you can point to any moment and say "THIS is the best part!"
But I gotta say I think my favorite single quote is the whole:
"Well, looks like we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us, Zoe?"
"Big damn heroes, captain."
"Ain't. We. Just."
I aim to misbehave.
Plus Book's whole death scene
But, that girl's a witch!
Yeah, but she's our witch.
So, cut her the hell down!
"Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's looking to kill some folk. So really it's his will you should worry about thwarting."
"The girl is a witch!"
-"Yeah, but she's OUR witch"...*Mal cocks shotgun, aiming it at the crowd of crazies*..."So cut her the hell down."
how does a show that lasted one season have so many great lines?
The lines are characteristic of Whedon et al. It only lasted one season because it was betrayed by an evil alliance called Fox which was run by untalented, unintelligent, and incompetent managers (who probably wore blue gloves).
Joss Whedon
Because Fox’s writers and show runners are smart. Their executives? Not so much.
because it was the best...and they never should have cancelled it...
cause its the best of all time
"Hell of a shot there" "I was aiming for his head"
+GameCentral UK One of my favs
+GameCentral UK I was wondering how that didn't make the list, that's my favorite line along with "Am I the only one that remembers when she tried to kill me with a butcher knife?"
+GameCentral UK In my opinion, that line is just one of Whedon's many homages to Blake's 7.

@@Calriec Blake?
Mal: Tracey, ain't you dead yet?
Tracey: Through no fault of my own, Sarge.
Mal: Shame. I wanted your beans.
“No more running. I aim to misbehave.” That quote kinda sums up the whole series.
Easily the best scifi show ever, better even than Star Trek. Obviously doomed from the start by its' exceptional production quality, outstanding writing, and the chemistry between the cast members.
Yup.
FOX has always been controversial, however Firefly being taken of the air is the single biggest reason I'll be annoyed with them forever!
I dream of a new series with all the original cast, set in the time between the end of the series and the movie Serenity. So many unanswered questions, so many new possibilities!
Jim Cid Probably will never happen, not with Joss Weadon anyways. He's too busy making billion dollar movies right now.
Dimitri Sainis Sadly true. However, we might someday see a movie or series placed in the Firefly universe; remember the original Star Trek was cancelled after a few seasons and now look at the franchise!
Idk about you all, but I look everyday for the opportunity to say, "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!!!
I'm the same, but sadly those opportunities are infrequent unless you have a group of highly unstrustworthy friends.

Hoban 'Wash' Washburne: Oh right, that would be me. Uh, back to work.
Kaylee: Grav boot ain't your trouble. I seen the trouble plain as day when I was down there on my back before.
Which I suppose means that Bester was as lousy a lover as he was a mechanic, if Kaylee had the ability to notice anything about the engine.
Wash: “Likely crash and kill us all.”

Apparently Joss Whedon had SEVEN series of Firefly planned and finished in a ring binder ready and waiting to be produced.. WHY FOX? WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!???!!!!???
Joss really needs to find a network to carry the show, seriously.
If you watched the 10th Anniversary special, the show was gonna get DARK. Even with Inara dying....
You gotta wonder is Wash and Book would have lived if the series was still playing and the movie hadn't happened...
Piss take.. the thing is the actors are just that litte too old for the roles now, like Orlando for Legolas it looks like a joke. It's a piss take that they didn't get to finish it, Firefly was so unique!
A shamefur dispray!!!
Unfortunately this. just look at Nathan Fillion, he's a chubby now.
"How do I know that you won't kill me in my sleep?"
"If I do, you'll be awake; you'll be facing me and you'll be armed."
Ahh, yes...that lovely conversation between Simon and Mal in the cockpit, right after Kaylee got shot. 😁
I DO so love the banter between Mal and Zoe.
And from Serenity:
Mal: He offered to pay you, didn't he? Why didn't you take it?
Jayne: He didn't offer enough.
Mal: What happens when someone does?
Jayne: Well... That'll be an interesting day.

"Why didn't you turn on me, Jayne?"
"Money wasn't good enough."
"What happens when it is?"

"(I) imagine it will."
Hilarious that in the movie, the guy chasing them says “Let’s talk. I’m unarmed…” Mal: “Good!” and shoots him.

I'm haunted by the last line of "Objects in Space". She's holding a little jack-ball that looks like a planet, and murmurs "I can win this." I thought she was literally talking about the jacks game. The moment totally foreshadows her revelation of Miranda.
She's gonna rule the Verse one day. In a good way.

My SGT. said " If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl. If you can't crawl, then get some one to carry you." He said that in 1986. That was and is my favorite quote. Love the grenades one: not one single simple character on this show. Three cheers for Jayne.

Capt.
