I love her face at the end when you block her with the sand again. That teen look of “Geez dad, I wasn’t gonna eat it (except I totally was tehe)” 🤣
I work with youths with a variety disabilities at a Special Recreation Association, and I focus more with teenagers with autism and I found that a lot of my teenagers enjoy putty the most! Especially Theraputty (which is found at most Walmarts) is a putty with a variety of different elasticities to choose from, so it gives our kids quite a few options. Our kids also enjoy sensory bins the most and for some reason popcorn kernels seem to be a hit for sensory input! Love your channel, keep it up :)
invergent omg I have cerebral palsy and when I was younger one of my therapists made theraputty part of my routine. She gave me two different strengths of putty to help strengthen my hands. It hurt my hands and I didn’t enjoy using them
Popcorn kernels? That's interesting! We have done the Theraputty, but never thought of popcorn kernels! Our kids amaze us daily!
Red Star oh no :( i can see where it would hurt as it hurts my hands too from time to time! the kids I work with have more aggressive behaviors and require something with a little more resistance to sort of alleviate that sensory output/anxiety!
#AutismRockz Family Yes! They seem to really enjoy that, or a bin of rice/beads has been popular with our kids in the past as well! :)
invergent some putty certainly does help me with sensory issues (as I have SPD) but only the soft putty helps with that
I’m 26 and I have ASD/Asperger’s. My favourite sensory thing for the past couple years is building balls magnets and stick magnets. I like the feeling of the magnets attracting and sticking to each other. I’m a Quality Engineer; that’s actually how I was introduced to the magnets - by my boss, who is amazing.
Do u like horses I saw that your profile picture was one of them by the way I love them to
@@thepanperson215 Yes, I was brought up on a farm, and have ridden horses since I was 4.
I just got the chain fidget and am already obsessed! Definitely recommend to anyone that has autism or sensory processing disorder.
I am 33 years old and love to play with kinetic sand. After getting some for my kids, I was hooked!
I have severe anxiety as well as ADD and I love using my fidget cube, one of those squishees (or whatever they're called) and a little looped plastic toy that can be made into shapes (I have no idea how to better describe that!)
I got a multipack of sensory toys from Amazon for my anxiety. In it was one of those marble in a pouch things. I didn't think I would like it but that one has helped me the most. I have that thing in my hand all the time.
Thanks Asa for sharing this video with us. It's gave me a start to my search for sensory toys.
I’m really enjoying some of these shorter educational videos they give me great ideas for my little friend with SPD 💙🧩
On the other side of the coin, are there actual foods that she seems to like in a sensory capacity? I noticed the sand and slime went into the mouth, which makes me curious about things like mashed potatoes, grits or malt o meal? Or Taffy, mousse or fruit leather?
My Anthony doesn't put those things in mouth but does smell them first. He only eats crunchy foods so I am thinking he doesn't put stuff in mouth because it's soft.
I just have to say that you guys are awsome. Im from Sweden and have thought about working with people with diagnos as such as autism. I love you guys cuz u explain it great. keep the good work up!
Thank you for sharing. I have a 3 year old who has sensory issues and we are looking for more sensory stuff at home.
I used my fidget spinner a lot before i got the marbel one. They really help me when i get anxiety. I also really like kinetic sand.
I love tangles, infinity cubes, play doh, I’m also an oral seeker so sour candy does it for me. I love my fidget game pad as well. Classical music for bedtime. And those timers that look like a lava lamp inside
I actually won a chain fidget from you guys when you did the giveaway a while back. It has been so nice to have, I use it a lot! Also a big fan of kinetic sand
Thank you so much for videos like this! As a future SPED teacher, I am constantly looking for tools to have under my belt when I first enter the classroom.
1:55 wow she’s fast! Reminds me of my toddlers I used to work with.
Hi, I have the chain link ones, they are cool and I have the peapod one which is like the marble in a tube, those are my 2 favourites at the moment but I do also have fidget spinner, (bit noisy) 1 of which has lights in and works as Bluetooth speaker. I also use various fidget cubes, some rolling cubes (1 made of lego) and some with button, switches and rollerballs on. I love watching you videos and think Abbie is brilliant and beautiful. I was diagnosed with what used to be called aspergers when I was 39. I wish I had known when I was younger that I was different for a reason rather than just being the freak I thought I was. Its made my life make so much more sense since my diagnosis. I can tell people if I want to and generally it's positive, it just helps people get me a bit better and it helps me get me a bit better. ❤️ You all and your videos, keep it up. Xxx
I am 27 with 3 different anxiety-related disorders. I love my marble/mesh fidget (though I do need to get a new one), my Fidget Cube (it's a realy awesome dark purple/blue/galaxy-esque color), Tangle/Tangle Jr. toys, Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty and an Infant Taggies Blanket.
My marble fidget is the same color :) I love having it for long lectures and things like that. I also really love The Tangle and fidget spinner. I have some Aaron's Thinking Putty but I find it can get stuck to things too easily and I have a cat so lots of cat hair around so I don't play with putty too often. I also have a slow rise squishy ball that I found for like a dollar at some store. I have ADHD and Anxiety so these fidgets really help in situations where I have to focus or sit still for a length of time or in high stress situations.
I have different sensory toys my favorite from least to really great are
1.Aaron thinking putty
2.Mesh stress ball
3.Squishies
4.Fidget Cube
5. Fidget Spinner
I find Abbie so precious in this video. She's so cute! Love her! I like little figurines I can rub to calm my anxiety. It helps if the figure has a smooth texture.
We love the stretchy strings/bands in our house, good stuff!
My favorite definitely has to be my tangles
I work with kids and we make sensory based things a lot! Have you tried cloud dough (conditioner mixed with corn flour/starch to make a nice smelling slime!) or gloop (corn starch and water, it changes from a liquid to a solid as you play with it!)
My favourite sensory things are soft blankets, especially when freshly washed. And I have a weighted beanie plushie that sits on my head at night time, no idea when or why I started doing it but it’s soothing so I always have it now 😂
Thank you for this demonstration, Abbie! Great suggestions, but they look like gummy candies to me, too! 😉😄❤
“It also helps the parents to maintain theirs insanity”
The fidget cube helps me alot at the dentist
I love fidget cubes, and I used to be really into Disney tsum tsums. They're like little Disney characters but as hamsters and they're so soft and I use them as stress balls sometimes still
I’m 19 and have ADD. I love fidget/ sensory toys. Love watching your videos, and how you get the word of autism out into the world. ❤️
Thanks for all the information
My 4 year old recently started Tball. There’s a boy on her team that is on the spectrum, although I have experience with adults on the spectrum I don’t have any experience with children on the spectrum, by the way things went it seems to me that it’s no different at all. Tonight at practice he wasn’t just wasn’t into it (his parents are the coaches) so I volunteered to hang out with him. We played in the sand for a majority of the time and really enjoyed each other’s company, he even asked for a hug and sat on my lap for a short time. His parents were so thankful, I told them I’d hang out with him anytime during games or practices if they needed a hand. He is 4 years old. Do you have any suggestions of sensory Toys or things I could bring to practices and games for him?
Love this video thanks so much for this, gives me great ideas xx
I have a client who loves shoelaces. He can twirl and tie them in knots. We buy them buy bulk 5000 at a time. One loves the sand and legos. We build them had he takes them apart all day. One loves playing with cheap baby keys that make noise. We have so much fun everyday! 💕😁
My cousin does the same thing with shoe strings! I've never seen or heard of anyone else doing it
Oh wow! My Anthony loves string! I buy yarn in bulk! LOL
Also, those little magnetic balls are awesome
Yes I have been trying to find those stretchy fidget ones for my daughter because she has a sensitivity to putty and slime stuff so she does like the pool on like stretchy ropes or stuff like that so thank you for that. I like these kind of videos
Great video as usual. What I struggle to find is something trust my son can use that isn’t dangerous to put in his mouth as he chews and goes to eat everything. He is a massive wood chewer/eater. I need something I can trust him to have.
Thank you for this! As someone going into Intervention, I always wonder about fidgets and sensory possibilities. I love all of you.
Love this family.
Love y’all ideas. She seems to love all these.
Thanks for the info on slime I needed something that’s not so messy
i love putty, and the fidgets you showed! definitely want to try mad matter some time. i also love squishies and those sliding puzzles
Colbey is obsessed with "snow". This can be the stuff inside bean bags or styrofoam broken into little bitty pieces. Wicked messy. Especially when he ripped open the bean bag. Still vacuuming bits from the carpet. But he had it all in a big tote container. Loves it. Ok for outside but not indoors.
You guys are awesome parents I have been watching you guys for the pass couple weeks and love your videos I’m learning a lot thank you guys so much
Awesome Abbie! Anthony's favorite is kenetic sand too. He also calms and stims doing watercolor painting.
I enjoy your longer videos.
Thank you for sharing I was wondering what kind of other sensory things to get for my daughter and you just gave me some choices. Also My favorite is the Kinect sand. I didn't know it was 2 different kinds 🤔. I put little shovels and cookie cutters and toy dishes she really loves it. She also like to rub the Kinect sand on her face. I don't know why she does it. I think she likes how it feels on her face. Last but not least I have to check her pockets and bed and backpack to make sure she not trying to sneak it to school and or out the house in general. If you not paying attention she will put small items in her pockets.
Denisha you didn't mention your daughter's age but your post reminded me of how much I like the fragrance and feel of exfoliating scrubs. They are meant to be used on skin and come in different grits. I have autonomic neuropathy and didn't know it until I was 72! Never stop seeking things that are calming and feel good.
@@sharynhay9993 She is 7 years old and thank you. I will for sure do my best.
This is super interesting, I have never seen these kind of toys, I learned something new today 😊
Great video!
The chain link looks like something I would love-but the kinetic sand...I think I gotta try! The stiff putty may help me stretch+exercise my RA affected hands-when I can!-SO many awesome ideas!!! Thanks Ab & Asa!!
Hi Maass family I love the unicorn slime and play-do, I also love play-do slime.
Beautiful video
I'll have to check out some of these fidgets - they could help me in class.
Mines are the textured tangles. Also I love chew necklaces from stimtastic, they are lovely and theres lots of variety for different styles and chewing intensities
Happy Sunday!
*Hugs to Abbie"
God bless everyone!!:)
Great share, great ideas and video Maass fam!! Joshua has a collection of the fidget spinners🤯 So for some reason he just doesnt get into the slime at all. And typically a lot of toys marketed for "autism" he really isnt interested in as much. His thing are The Animatronic type toys that sing and dance. Anything that moves, sings and dances he is so into. He actually started a collection of "Gemmy" toys that we get off of ebay and so he actually started his Gemmy channel, and good for him he has more subs than WE do!!! lol! Great video Asa and We love Abbie💜💕👍🎥❤️
Thanks!
We still have a huge collection of spinners. We also inherited some of my dad’s. The fidget cube is my son’s favorite. I haven’t seen the rings, but when I do I will be getting some for my boy. Cant use spinners or cubes in school. That putty that was harder to stretch would be good for the elderly and dementia patients, as well.
All great sensory products. Thanks for the tips Asa and Abbie.
Have a good night!
Great video as always. Btw, could you perhaps do one that's just oral fidgets and edible alternatives to some of the stuff you showed?
Hey baby girl. Hope your having a good day. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Love this video. I have special needs too I think I ask my staff to look for stuff like this. Your videos always make me smile
Thank You so much for your Video. I have Autism. I am on the spectrum With Aspbergers Autism. And Cerebral Palsy (Moderate) And ADHD and I am trying so hard to find fidget things. We have a lot to offer people if they only give us a chance. I grew up in foster care and they never figured out much for me. so now I begin the struggle to find my calming things.
This is awesome
Love to see more
THANK YOUUUU
My favourite sensory toy is a fidget spinner / an orbeez squeezing toy
I always wanted to know what autism sensory toys where. This is really interesting and good to know
Lately in your videos Abbie looks so grown up!!!
My favorite stim toys and fidgets are: a beanbag shaped like a pink cat, a shiny rainbow phone cord hair tie, one of those Squeezemals? Toys shaped like a pink pig, these two earbud wrappers shaped like fish skeletons... I used to chew on those, but I chewed so hard I ripped off some parts... also a zebra print Tangle. Always gotta have a Tangle.
When I’m in chewing mode. Chew necklace helps me.
My fav is noodlies and tsunameez egg.
I have ADD and i deal with anxiety so i use a tangle at school and it helps!
I think all are good but most of all what works for abbie also. Love all of your videos keep them coming
I don't suffer from autism. But I do have some anxiety related to pain caused by a car accident and botched surgery. And recently I found these squishes made by smooshy mushy. They come in all different sizes and designs. But what I like is the keychain style they have. Some are softer and others can be more firm to the touch. But I've felt a lot of relaxation to take my mind off the pain a little. If you keep an eye out, you can get them for a dollar at Wal-Mart so it feels more worth it. It's easy to hide the small ones in your hand too. Plus they just have really cute designs. I have several like a cupcake, pear, pancakes, a jar of cookies and several others.
Love your vids
I just ordered mad matter for izzy! Lol I am so excited to play with it. We absolutely love Aaron’s putty but it’s so pricey
Love you're sensory items
Ur channel has really helped me idk why but it really helps me I gave mild autism
Hey my name is Samantha I have autism I’m on the autism spectrum I love to Fidget a lot and I love ur guys videos
That is so cool
abbie is so so so beautiful and the sweetest!
Can I say that fidget cubes are really good for sensory and fidget things
I make the ones with the marble myself! I crochet the outside :)
shes so cute!
My Zack just loves using Silly Putty. All of his teachers have some ready if his dries up.
Abbie is adorable💗
While watching this my warrior is having sensory play. Also having oral sensory today too. Eating playduh and sand. The thicker sand is something need to buy. Thanks for sharing
I really want to try mad matter because I hate the sand feel and the feeling afterward. I've been craving sensory input (even crying because of it) so this video came out at a perfect time!
I got a sensory band that I've been obsessed with its bright orange. I have tried aarons thinking putty before and the egg ones are much harder to pull. Jiggly slime is really bad so I dont buy a lot of putties or slimes because I feel like I won't like the texture. This was a good video to deminstate some good textures. For quiet stims I take a lot of beads with diffrent textures and put them on strong braclet strings to play on. I put everything in my mouth too (including slimes and putty) but I know you cant swallow it they are just fun to suck on. Slimes don't taste good but putty tastes like nothing. Does Abby try and swallow things with her pika?
I love the sensory videos. Abbie looks happy today:)
I just bought 3lb of kinetic sand. First day our 4yo seeker played with it she sat at the table for an hour and a half. Love that stuff!
Hey Asa, a cool sensory activity for me is happy senso gel. It’s this really weird gel almost like shaving cream that is made to stimulate multiple senses. It is cool to the touch, bubbles, and makes a fun sound!
I love the classic Tangle Jrs
I love fidget toys! I don't have SPD or autism or anything, but I am just a really fidgety person! Thanks for sharing!
Asa, have you ever thought about giving Abbie something to chew on while she is playing with her sensory items? They make chewy jewelry etc that you can find on the internet. She has a strong oral sensory need and that might help.
Linda Morrow I have a chewable necklace from stimtastic! theyre a great store he should check them out
She's had several fans send her chewable jewellery, I'm not too sure why she doesn't use them anymore.
I love ur family and video ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love crazy Arons thinking putty! It's the right amount of sticky but not too messy. I'm not on the spectrum, but I use it for anxiety. Although I got in trouble the other day for having it in school because it was 'too snappy and poppy' 😒😁
I'll have to check out the putty. My daughter loves playdoh and kinetic sand.
Like Abbie she likes to try and eat it lol.
This was the 1st video I ever watched through Facebook
Seemed like alot of good ideas, the one silver one with 2 rings, would b great for ppl with anxiety. I have it very bad so would be good, where would I get one? Thanks for showing us asa n Abbie...
Sand art too
yay love new videos
My favourites are my chewigems and tangles
I found that if you go to Amazon and search sensory or fidget you can get packs with different things in them. I did it for a stocking stuffer for my son. He got a few doubles of things but it's fine lol kids loose things. He got most of the stuff that was shown in the video. You can go threw and find diffrent packs, you just pick what's best for your child.
Your video's are filled with so much helpful tips because they are livable by Abby and the rest of your family. Keep'em coming!!
Side note: I wonder if eating slime or sand would decrease if Abby was given some alternative "chewable" item or food during this type of sensory play (such as gum, or gummy, raisins, other healthier food, etc). What do you think? Would she be less inclined to eat the sensory "stuff" if she already had something already in her mouth (as a way to further assist in "blocking" that behaviour). Has she tried before? Take care!
