Amazing to me is Duran is easily 8-10 years past his prime age, and 25-30lbs over his prime weight, fighting a guy with superior strength, and Duran still manages to drop him!!
He was super tough & highly skilled.

When you hear old timers say “skill pay the bills” they talk about guys like Duran, stay calm move your head and be accurate with the punches and you can get good results.
In the later rounds he had power to drop a legitimate middle weight. That's why Duran is considered one of the legends of boxing

This was the Duran I expected to fight Hearns, after watching Leonard beat Tommie. But as soon as Duran stepped in the ring that night you could see the fear in his eyes, I was stunned as I never saw him afraid or least so unsure of himself. And sure enough he didn’t fight his fight he stayed too far away and Hearns demolished him.
Ray and Marvin said Duran was out of shape for Tommy Ray Marvin and Iran KO Tommy that’s the way boxing goes the same thing that happened to Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas messing around with women and alcohol instead of training that’s the way it goes

This fight and the Davy Moore fight made Duran the best fighter ever. He was an underdog and well past prime.I was lucky enough to see both these fights live.
Barkley tried to avenge his friend Davy Moor in this fight.

It was a good fight. Both came to win. Score the fight on all key points and be honest. Duran won

I felt that Barkley won a close decision even with the knockdown. The problem was that Barkley was supposed to dominate the sentimental favorite Roberto Duran. The judges gave some of the early rounds to Duran because he was taking some of Barkley’s best shots and answering with his own combinations. Either way it was a great fight.
