  • I didn't WANT another Beretta, I didn't NEED another Beretta, but this car is just too special to pass up.
1 of 869 Z26's to come with a HO Quad 4 and a 5-speed manual transmission from the factory. I estimate about 180 of these were Bright Aqua Metallic, as this was the highest produced color in 1994. Bright Aqua Metallic is a 1994 only color for the Beretta

Love this! My wife bought a brand new 95 Grand Am coupe with the Quad4 and 3sp auto. I religiously changed the oil every 3,000 miles and it went to 170k miles before it blew the head gasket and began to have low oil pressure issues. I put a brand-new engine in it and went another 160k before the rear swing arm mount rusted out. Loved that car! If this starts to overheat, replace the rear steam tube that runs along the back of the head. Then clean out the nipple on the overflow tank that it connects to.. I replaced the t-stat 5 times, replaced the radiator, and water pump, before I figured that out. Sure wish that car was a stick. Keep posting on this car and everything thing else. Love your content! PS - Our car needed injectors at about 150k miles. It consumed the coil cover about every 60k cause they short out internally. Changed the plugs each time too. I still have my GM Quad4 engine tool kit. Also changed the struts, rear springs and shocks every 100k to make it drive like brand new... man I loved that car!

Man what a unit! Glad you scooped this up. Once both berettas are up and going we need some tandem opposite wheel drive burnouts.

Love the passion that you have for these cars, we all have a soft spot for our firsts. Cool to see you get it running. I wasn't aware of the Z26 at all until racing against one in Lemons and then doing a little research on them, cool niche cars.

It's SUCH a throwback to see you wrenching on a Beretta again! I'm excited for this and more progress on the RWD one! That thing looked so sick rolling down the road.
My 91 GTZ had that same issue with the AC compressor being seized. It was such a relief since I took a big gamble buying it haha.

Always loved the Beretta body lines when they came out, loved the 24 cavalier also. You know your a true car guy when you bring in a heap and then your like a kid in a candy store flipping switches touching every nut, bolt , body part, you name it... Love it dude I was practically expecting to see a video clip of you skipping down the sidewalk humming the smurfs theme song from being so happy 🤣🤣🤣

I had a 89 gtu and 91 GTZ quad 4 5speed I loved the quad 4 w41 package installed it was a naturally aspirated beast of its time no vtec or anything just pure power 185 or 195 in 1991 in a 2.3l cylinder amazing car and with correct suspension tuning and driving it was well balanced and could be oversteered into a corner. One of my favorite cars ever

I'm from MI and when I was 17 I bought a white 96 Beretta Z26. I'm 38 yrs old now. It was mint condition. A rich older lady owned it. They kept it in the garage every winter. It barely had any miles. I saw it for sale while driving down the road in my then $400 83 Jimmy that barely ran lol. I worked 2 jobs at the time and had been saving for awhile but knew it was going to be too expensive. I had to stop anyway. It was beautiful. I talked with her for awhile & the lady liked me so much she told me I could buy it for what I had saved. I couldn't believe it. I cherished that car.
What's even crazier is a week after I bought it the engine blew up and there was no saving it. So I had it parked while I saved money. A couple weeks go by and the lady called me to ask how I liked the car. I told her about the engine and she started crying. She felt so bad she had me tow it to her mechanic and paid for a brand new engine. Which cost way more than what I paid for it. Such an amazing woman.
I had that car for 8 yrs and then a deer ended it all. Ran out in front of me and totaled the car. I'll always love the Beretta Z26

My uncle had an Old’s Cialis 442 with the Quad 4 and the standard. At the same time, I had an 84 z28 with the 5.0 H.O. with a 4 speed auto. On paper, they were supposed to put out about the same HP but it ‘seemed’ the Z28 was the most peppy of the two. We never ran them to find out though. I read the Quad 4 hype in the day and I’d decided I wanted one-until my uncle got his and I felt what it was like. I went with a 5.0 Mustang with my next purchase. That 442 with its standard was a fun car to drive though. He let me take it on a date a time or two, and for the most part I enjoyed having/driving that car. It just never felt like the power lived up to the hype.

Yeah thats kind of what I expect. It was a lot of hype. The power curve really isnt that great, especially compared to the usable power of a V8. Forced induction would be the ticket here to keep it fun

Got my very first car a good few months ago and it just so happened to be a 1995 Chevy Beretta Z26 3.1 L auto in black. Im the second owner of it and it only has a little over 90,000 miles on it. Doing pretty much a full restoration on it but it’ll be worth it to save an old car 😭🫡

If you find a jug of oil. Check the API spec on the oil, I think we are up to API SP. That can give you a approximate time range of when the oil was put there.

My family had two of those Beretta one was an 88 Beretta GT with a 2.8 v6 with a digital dash and then the other one was a 90 beretta Gt with a 3.1 l v6 with a normal Dash the white one went to junkyard for electrical problems and the red one went to junkyard for high mileage and just wasn't being used anymore I did think they look pretty nice and I wish they were we will drive I love the rain it reminds me of my Camaro

The steering rack in my buggy is out of these cars. Center mount racks. Quad 4 could hold some boost from what I’ve heard.

    • @spankranchgarage
      @spankranchgarage  4 месяца назад

I keep a spare beretta rack for this reason I always thought they would be good for a buggy, being center mounted. Does the steering ratio feel okay? I was worried about it feeling lazy

@@spankranchgarage i have the sport rack that I believe is 2.5 lock to lock. Its been a long time so don’t quote me on that. With an inline Nissan versa power steering. Works very well with minimal bump steer. Been in my buggy for at least 5 years now. Lost track

I had mine for less than two years and it puked an oil pump and two ignition modules. Burned a quart every tank or so and it was super turdy under 4000. But it did get 30+ highway

Quad4 lacked torque, had to rev the heck out of it to get to move. Always wanted one but got a 91 Z24 5sp and with the extra torque of the V6, it made beating a GTZ easy. But I still always wanted one.
