Really big transformation, I am always amazed how different they look before and after wing change, we got Victor racing wing last year and still feel surprised when I see it.
Good Video, nice wing. Got me thinking about putting one on my C7, but... How you gonna put stuff the trunk now? Golf bag, Carry-on bag, Cooler, T-top etc. How stable is it on the highway? I heard rumors that it flops around?
It does add a bit of a challenge putting things in the trunk. But it was worth the struggle! It shakes a small amount when hitting bumps. I’ve had it on over a year and no problems.
@@Team512 I can't wait to see what the rest of the conversion looks like. I started planning the upgrade to my Z06. I'm doing the Magnuson 2650, 180 degree thermostat, and I'm leaning to Kooks 2 inch headers and Xpipe. I'll probably do it in the spring/summer next year.
All I can say is WOW! You never cease too amaze. God damn that looks good. You make it look easy too easy though. I have done some mods to my 19 GS after watching you do them on yours. I think this one may outside of my comfort level. I done the front splitter upgrade ( quite easy with a lift, as you suggested) also did the skirts or side splitters ( also not a problem ) but this one I think will be a challenge. Any suggestions? It’s usually just me working on the vette. Aside from that I’m very happy to see some more C7 content, I understand you’re limited. You can only do so much. Lol
I appreciate the kind words Tom! Glad I could help with the front splitter and side skirts. To be honest, the wing is not too difficult. It's helpful to have a second set of hands when removing the rear bumper. After that, it's mostly a one man job. Just make sure you remove enough of the adhesive to slide the main brackets into place. Then just start assembling the "lego set" of bolts and smaller brackets. A few more C7 vids are on the way. Look for one tomorrow morning. Cheers!
Great Question! So quick answer, there's a rubber gasket and I guess you could use some clear silicone sealant if you were overly concerned. Longer answer, I don't think you need to. Here's why...the inside area of the bumper is not open to interior cabin space. Plus the base of the stanchions fit over the holes on the base spoiler. I'd be more concerned about water entering from some of the factory seems in the body panels. Shoot me an email if you have more questions: scott@five12garage.com. Happy to help!
I agree, we missed a main part of the install by not seeing how to measure out where to cut the holes and a few other steps that were just glossed over. Thanks for the video still, but please show more details.
Can you give me a measurement(center to center on the stansions) where they meet the body? Trying to see if the wing would work on another application. Thanks
Stansions are just about 18” center to center where they bolt into the top of the rear fascia. Shoot me an email if you think it will work. scott@teamfive12.com
Great video! Couple of questions: 1) One of the most common feedback I've heard of this spoiler is that due to its lack of rigidity, it vibrates while driving on the highway. Has this issue been fixed and/or have you experienced this? 2) I find the ZTK spoiler to be awkwardly high...are the EOS mounts shorter by any chance or do they make a version of mounts that is shorter so the spoiler is closer to the car?
Great questions. Thanks for reaching out! So the wing comes with stabilizer bars that need to be installed inside the wing before installing on your car. I have a video going live on Sunday showing the process. While the stabilizer bars mitigate much of the vibration, you will still notice some small movements at highway speeds. But consider the trade off on price. A full carbon wing setup will cost 3-5x more than this one. As of right now, there is only one height for the mounts. It’s mounted at the factory ZR1 height. Thanks again for the great questions and your support. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Always happy to help!
*i wouldn't recommend this version of the ZR1 wing. i have this one and it wobbles even with the stabilizer and JB weld to glue it in. The wobble is not good for down force. it's only good for looks but if you want one that function then you better go spend a little bit more money to go look somewhere else. This topic have been brought up in the EOS corvette forum also.*
@@fargo07 *Yes. i even JB weld the stabilizer in the spoiler too and it still wobbles. its embarrassing when it wobbles. There is no point in downforce if that thing wobbles and flap like a bird. Plastic is not good for this type of spoiler. You need a carbon fiber one.*
@@fargo07 *if the E.O.S bracket is the same measurement then you can just buy the carbon fiber wings without any bracket ($1700 not including tax/shipping cost). i dont know if the measurement on the carbon fiber from Weapon X is the same as E.O.S. All you need is if it will fit over the E.O.S bracket. if its OEM measurement then it should fit but i haven't try.*
I purchased one and installed. The issue i have with this wing is, it flexes non stop while driving. You can see the Winglets moving up and down in your mirrors constantly. It's not the Winglets that are the problem other than my first time ever seen 3m tape to keep them mounted, it's the blade (wing itself) that flexes on each side from the pillar (wing mount) on outward to the Winglets. Is this supposed to be normal?? Or did I get a manufacturer defect??
Did your wing come with the stabilizers? Even with them installed you may see a bit of flex as you’re driving. This is normal. Mine does it too. No problems after to close to 1000 miles of driving.
@@Team512 thanks for the feed back. My shipment did come with plastic stabilizers I guess.. After install, I saw in the box some plastic pieces. Every RUclips video I watched never mentioned them.. I was maneuvering the pieces on different areas of the wing and can't seem to figure out the correct configuration.. Any feedback on the install of the stabilizer would be awesome. TIA
@@Team512 bro, you're a freaking lifesaver!!! Installing those bad boys tomorrow!! Thanks for the feedback for real!! I'm mos def going to refer Five12 to all my corvette buddies!
I could never drive my GS with appearance parts from another model Corvette that didn't originally come with my car. That wing is instantly recognizable as being symbolic with the ZR1. Putting it on my GS would take away the uniqueness of my GS. Your car, your channel, my opinion as a loyal viewer.
I totally appreciate the feedback! One of the reasons I installed the wing is because I am also a vendor for EOS products. So I want to give people real world feedback on quality, construction and installation. I appreciate the support bass man!
Allot of comments on it shaking at highway speeds, what about when your doing 140-160 range? sounds like the wing might not be a good idea. Also my girlfriend is constantly getting me to take the roof off, seems like a pain to put it in the trunk with the wing. and it feels a little weird to me putting a z1 wing on a zo6, makes your nice z06 look like a wanna be z1.
Looks awesome, man! I'm a man who can appreciate the big wing cars 😎
Ha! Yes, yes you are! Loving the big wang! Welcome back to PA. Can't wait to hear about the trip.
