Hey Chip I see you attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, While I was in the Army stationed in Alaska I applied and mailed in my portfolio slide presentation and I was surprised I was accepted. I was supposed to start in 1987 when I left the military but sadly when I got to California I found out I had no kind of financial aid and I had no ties to the area to find somewhere to live and I was married with a wife and a dog tuition back then was about $25,000 a year which was a lot for 1987 money. So long story short I had to give up my dream of becoming a car designer I'm also 59 years old like you.
Not to sound weird or corny, but watching you sketch, I was stoked to have shaken your hand, the hand of master-talent in the auto industry...and a very nice gentleman too! Thanks Chip for the great content!
Chip foose is one of the most talented artists and car builders I’ve seen not to many people can draw with an ink pen and not mess up I’ve seen him cut out a perfect circle with a die grinder on new paint on overhaulling most people that have used a die grinder know how easy it is to get away from you but the man is multi talented.
Watched overhaulin and all the shows he is in, can we just have a show where he draws / paints cars and his ideas? He`s a legend and super talented, all around nice guy!
Can't get over how someone could be so skillful with respect to design, but also have the ability to bring it to life, you my dear friend are a unicorn, not to mention a gentleman

I would like to know something, as a kid in school all the way through high school while all of my classmates were taking notes, I was drawing and sketching cars. I mean like most of my time in class was spent drawing cars and Ed Ross cars. Did Chip study hard, or like me, did he draw cars in class?
I asked if he would do one of my car I'm building but he said he only does them for cars his shop is building. Too many people were building cars he drew and saying they were Chip Foose cars when Chip had nothing to do with the construction. He did say he would consider drawing a car he didn't build but only after it was finished.

For me Chip Foose is an icon of automotive art.
