can the root drench be used on indoor plants?

You can do a soil treatment with a systemic product for indoors plants. However, you need to be sure that you are using a product that is labeled for use in indoor and containerized plants. This will generally be a granule product instead of a liquid product. Hi-Yield Systemic Insecticide Granules can be used for a soil treatment of containerized plants: www.domyown.com/hiyield-systemic-insect-granules-p-1717.html

Hi there, I have a Bay Laurel tree on my newly acquired property and it is totally infested with scale. I believe it is soft scale as there is the black sooty leaves you mentioned. We tried a spray last year and thought it had worked as the black soot went away. However I’ve been out today and seen not only is all the scale still there but they are significantly larger than last year! About the size of water droplets. The tree is too tall to spray, would you recommend the root soak? I live in Europe and have not yet been able to communicate with garden centres how to solve this problem, any recommendations of products I could order online? Or any further advice would be great, we’d love to harvest from this tree to use for cooking but at present it’s more about saving it! Thank you.

If you will not be using the Bay Laurel tree for any purpose, then you can drench with a product like Prime Source Imidacloprid 2F or Safari to control the scale systemically. You should still try spraying the tree with a foliar spray in the mean time like the Ultra Pure Horticultural Oil.

@@domyown thanks for the reply and links. I will be checking them out but if I wanted to harvest the leaves the systemic control wouldn’t be a good idea then I presume? I ideally want the tree to use for culinary purposes 😕 I know it sounds a bit amateurish but who do you go about spraying a large tree? Sorry to bother that’s my last question!! Haha thanks again

No bother! We are happy to help, but yes if you are using it for culinary purposes, those products might not be the best idea.
There is another Imidacloprid product that is labeled for many fruits and vegetables. We will leave the link below. We understand that spraying might be challenging but you should spray it the best you can with that pure oil it will really help in the mean time.
