Japanese pancakes or souffle pancakes are underutilized in the weight loss space. These are the fluffiest, tastiest, and downright best protein pancakes I have had to date.

2 Whole Eggs
40g Fat free Milk
2.1g Vanilla Extract
Pinch salt (~.4 grams)
19g Flour
30g Gourmet Vanilla PEScience Protein
1g Baking Powder
25g Swerve or eryhritol
1-2 shakes Cream of Tartar
I know it’s unlikely but it seems like my request for a recipe with my macros was fulfilled! 😂❤
Omg omg omg it looks sooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood🤩🤩🤩🤤🤤🤤
Can you replace cream of tartar with lemon juice?
Please don't use that nasty cooking oil... use coconut oil or ghee butter instead.
@@plynwow there's coconut oil in spray form as well
Saw this video last night the day it was uploaded, had to make this recipe the same night, as soon as I got home. Couldn’t wait. These things are insaaaane man. You’re absolutely killing it. I have such a deep appreciation for you and your channel brother! 🙏 you’ve helped change my life!
YOOO. Thank you for trying them out and I am glad you liked them!!
This video answered my prayers to help me eat better!! It also, confirmed a thought I had about making the batter with whipped egg whites to make protein pancakes fluffy and not thin and/or dense. 🙏🏾 🙏🏾
Yes, I’ve been looking forward to this recipe since your “What I Eat In A Day” video! Can’t wait to try this!
Let me know what you think Heather!
Definitely one of the best!!! Cooked these today and just the 4 was sooo filling man
Bro, I’ve been with you from the beginning and I’m so happy how far you’ve come.
Your recipes are top notch.
Thank you!
When I didn't have any eggs I found an old fashioned recipe that uses baking soda and vinegar to fluff the pancakes. They are wonderful after substituting some flour with protein powder. Not as much macro nutrients as eggs and egg whites but when you're out of stock the alternative works well.
Great idea!!
That's just about the same as using baking powder
To make it healthy use fresh fruit, real honey or real maple syrup as a topping not the fake stuff!😊
This is probably the best anabolic recipe channel on RUclips!
It sure is! He also has the same stove as me! Love it!
It IS the best! Been following Nick since he had like 2K subscribers, the dude is crazy passionate and amazing at what he does.
Bees knees
Thank you all so much 🥲🥲🥲
@@Exercise4CheatMeals totally man! We love seeing your success🔥
These look amazing! Great job!
I never thought I’d see the day when the Japanese pancakes were made anabolic! I’m so hyped to make this… can wait to get home on the weekend to try this out! 🙏 awesome work Nick!
I am very happy to make these anabolic. I didnt think it would be as easy as it was!
actually this is not hard to make if you have any experience in baking or cooking
and i use normal fat milk and it works fine
and protein powder i use is 50/50 whey casein (I MIX IT MYSELF)
AND YES THESE ARE THE BEST PROTEIN PANCAKES
and Greetings:From Finland
I made these tonight and they are going to be my go to breakfast every morning! Loved them!
Must be nice having 2 hours to cook every morning
Was hoping you would make a pancake recipe- this makes me so happy!!! Can’t wait to make them Nick!!!!
Good things come with time. This japanese pancake really invigorated that passion to get a pancake out.
Pro tip: if you're unsure how fresh your eggs are, just submerge them in water. If the egg lays on its side on the bottom, then it's the freshest possible. If it stands up on the bottom, then it's not as fresh, and if it floats, it's probably no good. Also, if you're unsure if an egg has been boiled or not, just spin it and abruptly stop it. If it starts spinning again a little bit, then it's raw, because the inside still has momentum.
This guy eggs.
@@thetonymasters eggcellent eggsplanation if you will
Lies again? Paramount Pictures Maple Syrup
For the second one you don’t need the step of stopping it if it’s hard and slow to spin then it’s raw
This looks so good that I'm definitely going to finally get a hand blender to make creating these wonders easier.
I just made this recipe for breakfast with an added mashed banana into the dough. It is very rare to find such a delicious recipe with such good macronutrients. I will incorporate this dish into my diet routine. 😊
I can't wait to make this -- great tips! I tried making fluffy protein pancakes and failed miserably, now I know why!
Thank you! You and me both until a few weeks ago.
those look soooo good imma need to try this later
Great recipe and great sense of humor
These came out AMAZING.
Tried these today with half Ghost peanut butter and half a vanilla casein and they were FIRE!! One of the best anabolic recipes I've tried over the last few years. Nick when's the cookbook coming? For you, I'll actually pay for this one lol.
AYOO ALEX LETS GOOO!!!!
Cookbook hopefully early January!!
I'd been craving something sweet for awhile and bro these are literally PERFECT!!! Soft, thick, and just the right amount of sweetness! My family and i ate them all before they even reached the plate,,, I didn't even get to grab the syrup out of the fridge- 😂
tbh they don't really need syrup their amazing on they own too! subbed and cant wait to see some more incredible content/recipes!!!! 👍
Ok I just made these this morning for a Sunday breakfast and they are hands down the BEST pancakes ever! Aamazing macros too!!
Thanks Nick!
Oh really was it comparable to normal pancakes like hungry jack or IHOP style? Also did you use the PE science protein powder? I wanna make them this week and try thank you :)
@JB23669 can't speak to hungry Jack's pancakes.
Not comparable to IHOP. These have way more volume and are much more fluffy. If you cook them for a little less you could get more of a doughy texture I think.
Japanese pancakes are the bomb 💣 😋
Forgot to answer...I didn't use PE Science, I used Transform HQ. Anything with a whey/casein blend and you should be good!!
Just made them! Best ones ever! I used 1 tsp of lemon juice as substitute of the cream tartar. Great fluffiness
Another banger 🎉🎉🎉🎉. As a guy living in Japan, you did a great job with the pancakes. My wife makes them once a week. Now with your recipe, she can make them more often.
Thank you!!! I know they dont look as perfect as some other youtube who have posted them, but pretty dang good for protein pancakes. 😂
Lmao!!!! I cant with all your descriptions and side comments 🤣😂….
I love how you show your personality in your videos.
LOL Very few understand Erika and you are one of those people. 😂
Just finished cleaning up dishes after making this, here's my review!
TL;DR These are incredible, HUGE kudos to Nick for developing and sharing this recipe to the rest of us!
So I saw this video last week and immediately knew it's a must try. Being the kitchen dummy I am, I didn't follow the recipe to the letter because of things not available to me/measurement error. Here are the things I did differently:
- I cut the recipe in half to save calories (I was already planning to eat oats later but danggg even with just half the recipe, I already feel satiated and don't feel the need to make the oats)
- I used brown spelt flour = Not sure if this is totally true but the packaging says it has lower calories and higher protein content than normal AP flour I have available here. Sources I've read online say that spelt is perfectly suitable as a 1:1 substitute for APF so I thought, yeah okay whatever. This led to my pancakes looking more brown and kinda dry (
I felt discouraged when he said it must be a casein whey blend to work properly, great to see you had success with only whey protein! I might try it out
would love to know how yours will turn out using only whey! I did recently buy a casein protein so i could play around with DIY-ing a mix, in hopes that the texture would improve. Unfortunately PEScience is unavailable here in Mexico.@@caiohagge3837
Just made them I made a mockery of a circular pancake but omg these are unbelievable its like literal cake man 10/10 gonna make em tmr probs tysm
Again, you never disappoint!
Its 10 am in the morning. Tried this recipe now, and it came out fantastic. Thanks bro for the good start to the day
Love to hear it! Thank you for trying.
Oh man....oh man these are gonna be my go to. Greatly appreciated 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Anytime Rick!!! Hope you like them
Love it! I have that PEScience flavour too, let's GO!
YES. Lmk what you think when you try it out!
This is great but I don't have time to do all this
Exactly what i was thinking. Man is trying to earn a Michelin star
legit, idk id just make some normal ones if I was craving them so badly, and then eat some lean protein the rest of the day to keep the macros
I was just planning pancakes for breakfast so right on time 😁
You are in for a pleasant surprise then. 😏
Good job and fun to watch 🤣
EXCELLENT VIDEO. Subbed!
I did this recipe changing few ingredients and they don't look like the one in the video, but they 10x better than the ones that I use to do
Looks awesome! 👌
Thank you!
The most suitable protein for this coincidentally also the one that sponsors you! Amazing coincidence!
This looks incredible, no lie ! 😍
Taste just as good!!
This video actually convinced me to get the 4-hole egg pan with lid.
Awesome recipe! Love the way you balance between flavour and macros
Do you think this recipe could be made in bulk and the batter kept in the fridge for a few days?
Thanks man! Honestly I do think so. This batter depends on the bubbles formed by mixing. If I were to do anything, I’d make then all at once and either freeze or refrigerate
I can tell this is a banger of a recipe because I royally F'ed it up and still tasted great
Lemme tell you THE SECRET of all fluffy recipe secret’s- it’s the eggs and the procedure you did it in this recipe. Do that with any cake you’re going to have the most soft cake ever
Macros are legit too. Always find protein pancakes boring and or too low volume. Will give these a try man. Thanks for what looks like another banger!
For sure brother! Let me know what you think when you try them out.
Another dope recipe that I was waiting for. Your pizza meal prep has been great. These pancakes will be made this week. I ran out of swerve lol.
Lol Happens to me all the time. Pizza for dinner pancake from breakfast. Let me know what you think of the pancakes when you restock. 😂
Just made these and they came out perfect! I wish I could post a picture here.
I used a whey protein (all I had, plus casein does not sit well with me 😢), macadamia milk, and an allulose blend instead of swerve. All the measurements were the same. And they did not need syrup at all!
Great recipe! Thank you!
How was the texture with whey? I'm considering doing it but I'm scared because i don't have casein lol
@@hotshot4512 same 😭😭
I made it tonight, w a bit of modifications:
1. I doubled it
2. I used pea protein + more liquid
3. I didn't use a scale
in a bowl:
4 egg yolks (save the whites separately)
10tbsp whole milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4tsp salt
2.5tbsp water
in strainer:
5tbsp flour
6tbsp unflavored pea protein
1/2 tsp baking powder
whisk to combine well, it will be thick. I used more liquid than recipe calls for bc pea protein absorbs more water, I got it to the right consistency though.
in another bowl:
6tbsp powdered sugar (could have probably used 4tbsp)
beat egg whites and pour in 1/4 of it at a time while beating
(I didn't have cream of tartar)
beat until stiff peaks
(took me like 7 minutes on high!)
mixed just a little bit of meringue into the main batter.
combined, barely folding batter into meringue. 20 folds from the bottom
(I didn't use a piping bag)
cooked very low on a nonstick pan with coconut oil.
recipe made 8 (thick daddy) pancakes
pour few drops of water into pan and cover to help cook the sides so you can flip them
usually about 3-5mins first side, then half that time for second
They were sweet, airy, tasty. I didn't even notice it was full of protein powder, especially unflavored powder! Ate without syrup or anything. If going back, I'd remove some sugar & maybe add jam or honey on the finished product.
Biggest mistake: I had egg white streaks in the pancake! I'd mix just a little better next time.
Thanks for posting this - I actually can't digest whey very well so I was wondering how it would turn out with a different kind of protein powder
Interesting recipe, i was looking for a way to double this, would 8 yolks be too much for the batter, if i doubled your recipe and used more eggwhites? I've heard that too much egg is not great either.
This man has it down to a science wtf. So well informed and descriptive
I cannot believe it took this long for someone to take advantage of the method used for Japanese pancakes in protein-dense recipes :)
i hit the jackpot with this channel
Thanks for that recipe! Greetings from Germany.
Anytime Peter!
Your presentation style for videos has improved since last year.
LOL. Thank you 10 Cent
"Tasty as shit" in the end got me🤣🤣. What an ironic way of saying something is tasty.
Another one I’m going to try. When’s the brownie recipe coming? :)
Gotta get it perfect. I am not satisfied yet. Hopefully by the 50th attempt.
These are so good! Holy crap
Can’t wait to try this gonna change the flour part tho maybe use oat flour or fiber and or xanthum gum + blueberries
The pancake mix was really tasty and fluffy, but I messed it up in the cooking part, my stove was on a low heat and the pancakes would not cook 😩 probably left them for 15 minutes and tried flipping them and they were still raw, I'll try it again with a different heat, but still ate them once they were cooked lol they feel so light but were so filling, I'm impressed with this recipe, I'll try it again, hopefully they'll come out as good as yours! thank you for sharing!
"Tasty as shit" made me giggle a bit😄
I just made these and WOW, they were phenomenal, however I have no idea how you only got 4 pancakes. I didn't scale the recipe up at all and managed to get 10 of them
Dude AWESOME !!!
Thanks!
Well i just tried it using almond wheat and added 3 g of ESN Flav‘n Tasty cheescake sweetener at the end, its mindblowing and the portion was more than enough,, well seems like i gave to look up your other recipes after following your page 👍🏻
Loved the experience. Here I tried with 15g of xylitol instead of 25g, but got a bit dry. I’ll try with a bit more amount of milk next time. Thanks for the recipe!
No problem! Thank you for trying it out!
Yes! I'm doing IF so I'm typically eating at noon but I love a pancake 🥞 😋 So I thought to myself, what's the tastiest way to make a protein pancake...and here we are!
My secret to fluffy protein pancakes is to use Kodiak Buttermilk pancake mix! 1/2 c pancake mix + just less than 1/2 c water. Wisk together. The batter should be kind of thick. The thinner the batter, the thinner your pancakes will be. You'll get 2-3 pancakes from this, depending on how big you make them. You can also add an egg and use any kind of milk you like instead of water to make them a little richer. I just use water because they taste amazing without anything extra!
How is this a secret? They literally say these directions on the back of the box
Ok you explain kind of fast, but I have to say the pancakes are amazing. Now I have one of those blenders but I didn't feel like getting it out and the pancakes turn out delicious, thank you!!!
Basically a Japanese Souffle pancake... But with protein powder!
These look amazing. I'm doing keto so the 19g Flour won't work for me. Add more protein powder or replace it with Almond Flour? Coconut flour?
hi nick! just wanted to see if you ever tried warming these up after cooling them? i want to eat one or two at work and im not sure if they'll make it 🙉
btw you are the abselute best, can't wait for the cookbook to come out, already preordered it 😊
I didn’t have the supplies to make them fluffy so mine were flat but these taste the best out of any recipe I’ve had by far.
I ate those for the first time of my life in Japan and they were absolutely delicious 💙💙
Amazing that the sponsored product was the best choice.
Dude you are next level. This is epic
Thanks Matt!
i mixed in keto chocolate-chips and loved itt :) thanks!
Oh hell yeah!! No problem!
Literally so fluffy it feels like marshmallow batter
These are 🔥
wow. these were the best protein pancakes i’ve had
Thick daddy pancakes 🥞 lol I like and will give this a try. Funny how you came out with a Japanese pancake and I been seeing it on my feed and been looking it up
I am so blessed they popped up for me on my feed.
I don’t have cream of tartar - how is the recipe without it? Anything I can substitute for it? Love the video - thanks for your hard work creating content like this. Hope to try this recipe soon!
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Mother of God. Just made, hands down no comparison, best protein style pancakes ever. And I've been trying for years, just never cared for any recipe. Plus insane macros, I also used Fairlife Milk but the omega whole version.
Have to play with timing a bit but hot damn, killer recipe!
Hell yeah! That probably upped the flavor a little bit as well. Thank you for following up with a review!
Bro the thumbnail along was fire I could resist from slapping the video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hahaha Thanks Turner
Looks great, I'm going to try without the use of plastic bags and non-stick pan.
Sounds great!
Protein pancake of the year, this looks like fire bro :)
Please lmk if you try them 👀
I literally seen that very video like 3 days ago and yesterday thought to incorporate this idea in my own personal recipe.... also when I did this I had to whisk it by hand as I don't have a hand blender but my arms felt like they were gonna fall off
Egg whites from the box are pasteurized so they will never fluffy the way you need them to. Fresh egg whites will never fail you.
My pancakes are so soft and thick depending on the liquid amount .also if u use protein powder just mix non fat Greek yogurt or low fat Greek yogurt they come out soooooo soft .😋🤤
I concur - I often use greek yogurt and a splash of egg white instead if the milk to increase the protein content :)
Been on a pancake rampage lately, I've spent to much on Kodiak's lately because I've been trying to find a contender despite knowing I can make my own haha, will try this in my next pancake head to head tomorrow. You ever thought of making a pastry? Like a cheese danish or a bear claw? Been wanting one of those for a minute cause my gas station has them and sucks passing em up. Thanks again!
Can wait to hear your results!!! First would be a donut or a cinnamon roll before a specialty pastry like that. I do want to do it in the future though
@@Exercise4CheatMeals I mean those sound good too I have also been eating a ton of donuts but most Anabolic Recipes seem to come up short for me on those, although I admit I have to use muffin pans so. For the pancakes, I tried em, liked em a lot. Very different than the other protein pancakes, but wasn't totally strange or off. I'd personally probably half the recipe (or store 2, wonder if that's possible), and use them as sort of a "bun" and just make a massive McGriddle or something with some eggs or patties that I gotta use a fork and knife to eat. They fill me good for sure though!
Amazing!
anabolic but i need a day off from work to eat breakfast lmfao
You could also but cake rings to make sure they hold there shape if you mess up the egg whites!
Yo Callum. You are definitely correct. I have rings but only one mold per size. I tried it twice and i messed up both times so i continued on without them.
What brand pan do you use? How many drops of water when cooking them< I want to try this EXACT to precision
its so great that this video was made but i dont understand grams. i need to know cups and teaspoons so idk what to do
Solid stiff peaks are easy with carton egg whites. You just let them sit out for a bit for whipping.
Oh my gosh ! I've been wanting to try souffle pancakes for like a year.. never thought of trying to make an anabolic version even though egg whites are the star..duh 😆 you the man, Nick !
Hey I just recently stumbled upon them so it has been my loss as well. 😂
@exercise4cheatmeals can this possibly work with a pre mix? I just bought this Monkfruit sweetened Pancake mix by Lankanto. I'd like to try it out. Thoughts? They have 1 gram net carb
Thank you
Best protein pancakes I ever had that were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and ever so sweet, used collagen peptide protein powder
For me, cooking protein pancakes daily for the calories and protein fill, the fluff comes from the way you cook it.
What works for me, is low heat at the beggining for 2-3 minutes, then when you flip it you imidiately change heat to high and only let it for a minute, the heat change will make it expand it seems.
Thank you for the tip iMMorster. I’ll have to try it out!!
@@Exercise4CheatMeals Hey man likewise, as a young man living alone meal prep is important and I thank you for saving me time and money with your recipe and tips along the way.
I should mention that I am atm using ready to mix powder that I stir in a bowl with soy milk, that differs from other recipies but I think the heat switch when flipping doesn't sound that crazy, it transforms them from flat into fluffy ones.
Lovely weekend ahead!!
PES is a mix of mainly Casein and Isolate which is why it makes decent pancakes due to the Casein
Yep
OMFG !!!!! I MADE THESE AND THEY ARE THE BEST PANCAKES I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE !!! IVE HAD OVER 100000 DIFFERENT PANCAKES AND THIS WAS AMAZING !!!! YOU CANT EVEN TELL THEY ARE HEALTHY PROTEIN, TASTE LIKE FLUFFY DELICIOUS CAKES !!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!
Tip: you can pinch the end of your bag and cut so it won’t lose any batter
