Thanks for showing the 293 and 273, those are the two models I'm debating between. I'm replacing old cedar fence posts with metal T-posts on a 10 acre property. I need something that can probe for and break up chert and hardened sediment. it sucks getting a post 3" shy of the target depth and then hitting rock.

Can you tell me if the tool has the ability to let you twist a bit by hand to the angle you need it to be (say a spade bit to remove tile). Some tools like Bosch rotary hammers have a setting on the dial to allow you to adjust the bit’s angle by twisting the bit angle by hand, and then the knob can be turned to say chipping mode and the bit is locked in place in the position you put it (provided you’re not drilling which of course would mean the bit would be spinning.)

    Wow,
Now that's a very nice DeWalt 20v SDS PLUS rotary hammer drill.
I have the smaller version (DCH 273) like the one you show on the video. I have to agree i do like the new guide rod and push button system on the larger model.
DeWalt just needs to redesign that one feature on the smaller dch273. Then it will be complete.
    Thanks for the video

CraftManGreg They can be dangerous! I was using a corded Hilti outside on a chimney and it was very tight quarters. I had to put my head against the house to work, because there was a deck in the way, just enough room to work. I just finished drilling some holes and inserted the chisel to start chipping. With my head up against the house I stuck the chisel in a crack and pulled the trigger! Boom!! I have never been hit so hard and so fast in my life. I had absolutely no idea what happened! All I heard was a loud crack noise, there wasn’t even anytime for pain, then I saw the blood on the house. My dumb ass forgot to switch from hammer drill to just hammer mode, so the whole tool twisted full force when I pulled the trigger. What made it worse, my head couldn’t move, because it was braced against the house. Blood pouring down the side of my face and all over the yellow house. I went to go into the basement for something to stop the bleeding. There was a plumber there. He looked at me with fear. He was going to call 911 because he thought I got jumped by someone outside lol. I told him what happened and then he looked at me like, you are a dumb ass lol. I finally found some paper towels to clean up the 3 inch gash next to my eye. Used a paper towel and some duct tape for a temporary bandage and finished the job. When I got home the wife made me go to the hospital lol. I had a concussion, stitches and a fracture. Long story short lol, I will never pull that trigger again until I check the tool twice. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ive had it for like 4 or 5 years now since it came out. Its a beast for an sds plus you wont be disappointed. Most powerful sds plus ive ever used and that it includes corded. I use a 12ah flexvolt on it all the time and it balances perfectly with the larger battery. Battery and base of tool sit flush with each other with the 9ah and 12ah

Will this drill accept SDS Masonry bits below an inch in diameter? Can this also do the job like its compact Dewalt atomic counterpart that goes up to 5/8? I want a good size range so I don't need to get the compact one as well.

@@andrewantoine4335 I had the 273 for 3 years now, but it’s had small issues since day one, but I can still use it. I’m waiting on parts right now so hopefully it will be fixed, if not I will be getting the 293. The only thing with the 293 that’s a bit discouraging is the weight and is heavier than the 273. The 273 hasn’t let me down yet, it’s definitely a huge beast in a small package.

Hey Brad, I know this is an old vid but would love to see you do some tile demo w it. I'm a remodeling contractor & currently have a corded hilti for big jobs but would like something cordless & more maneuverable primarily for tile removal. There are tons of vids on dch273 but I think it'd be a little underpowered for floor demo etc. Already have the dcd999 for hammer drilling so this'd be primarily for chipping in tighter spaces. If u post something or have some input re the power / performance differences bt the two lmk, I'd appreciate it. thanks

I don’t have any time demo planned at the moment but I do have a bunch of stucco to remove soon. I’ll do a video on that with this tool. Probably won’t be for a month tho.

    Hello,
I just discovered by chance your videos ( very good videos !!!)
I will have to buy a Dewalt hammer drill.
I'm restoring a house, I need to make holes in a concrete floor slab to fix rails ( more than 300 holes ahah diameter 6mm, height 60/70mm)
And I need to drill 25mm diameter holes 40cm long to pass heating pipes ( 28 holes )
I also need to remove some tiles on a wall, about 6m2
I hesitate between the DCH 273 or DCH 293.
    What would you take ?

    • @hammerandhome
      @hammerandhome  Год назад

      Thank you !
I would go with the dch293. It better at doing demolition than the smaller unit. It also has more power so you know it can handle all those holes

@@hammerandhome Hello, thank you for your quick response.
In France the 293 is 100€ (about 110$) more expensive than the 273, do you think the extra cost is justified?
After all the 293 can do the same job as the 273. But the 273 will not do the same job as the 293 😄😄
