There are only a very small handful of singer/songwriters that can reach into your soul with their lyrics and melodies and reveal its contents. Justin Currie is one. He strums the chord of my soul every time. Thanks for posting this.
The teeth whistle at the end is pitch perfect to the original harp/strings on the original... such a talent. This is a superbly crafted melancholic piece, and one of his finest in my opinion.
After seeing Justin on his latest tour and watching this again, I gotta say Justin has incredible control of his breath. His technique seems to have improved over the years
Thanks for posting this which I've just found. I was at this gig and remember a lass sitting in the vacinity from where this was filmed singing along to every song.
Justin Currie !!!! What can I say? Pure genius, best singer song writer Britain ever produced. From Dela-mitri days till now the man is unbelievable. Can't wait for the new album on 19th August.
Incredibly so! And wow, yes, what a performance. He does confirm it was was written specifically about the band in the new book by Charles Rawlings-Way, it's a great read but discussing all the hows and whys and what ifs, it left me all the more frustrated that they didn't get more recognition. I just want to stuff his music down the throat (ears) of every person I know but apparently that's frowned upon - rambling under youtube videos it is then. He's such a unique, seemingly bottomless well of talent - if he didn't have such an almost eerie way of peeking right into my soul in his lyrics I'd claim he's not human. And even if he may not always write autobiographically the line "I tried to do my best / But I guess I never had the knack" is kind of heartbreaking in the context of the song. Yes you do, Justin, don't worry. Also: thanks sincerely, Penny, for all your Justin videos. I've been trawling youtube like mad the past few months to make up for a ten year stint in the dark (What Is Love For simply couldn't be topped, is my excuse) and you've captured so much gold, lucky. I made it to see Del Amitri in Edinburgh (only burst out crying the moment he opened his mouth..!) but the ultimate goal is to catch and experience the intimate atmosphere of a solo gig. I hope he never stops writing and performing.
❤toothless little lions trying to do something that's never been done. Your talent is great and you guys did succeed!!!!❤ Love, peace and happiness to you and your mates Sir.
They "got away" and they "made a difference" and NOW DEL AMITRI IS BACK!!! First 2 releases from their new music are just absolutely brilliant, naturally. Can't wait for March!!!!!!!
Penny - thank you so much for posting these amazing clips! Gosh this is a great song. How does Justin come up with these melodies that he seems to create so effortlessly?
I bought the album this is from , what a song , the stand out song , the sadness of a doomed relatioship from a male point of view , yes men are sensitive too !
Still brilliant in 2024 !

If this elegant song doesn't get to you emotionally, you're either very lucky in love, or you're dead inside.

Superb isn’t it.
Thank you for this lovely video, Penelope. I've never heard him play this song and I do love it. Such a treat to see this. Thanks again. :)

One of my very favorites, thank you Mr Currie.
Another mesmerising performance by Justin. Every time I listen to him I am totally captivated.
Hell yes! What a performance...I'm in love with this video on first listen. One of the best live performances I've ever seen
music that becomes poetry of life,,,,,,timeless,,Grazie !!!
In retrospect, as the final song from the Dels' final album, this is pretty bittersweet.

I'm still trying to figure out how he does the whistle bit haha :)
Good stuff...thanks. :)
Justin Currie is a great singer/songwriter! On par with Bob Dylan and John Lennon.
Better, imho.
You're most welcome.

For - Mi - Da - Ble !!!!!
Always one 'fan' in the crowd that thinks she is the singers best mate. Shut the hell up and let the man sing.
Oh man, Parkinson's. That really stinks. 🤨
