I want to mention that I always enjoy your selection of background music and also all the very nice nature shots. I keep forgetting to tell you that. Have a fun weekend.
That was so cute to see the boys coming for lunch fully armed with their swords. Those were the days. You are awesome parents. Raising your boys to be responsible men one day gives this grandmother some hope. Have a blessed week.
Isn't it amazing the beauty you can find if you just look 😉. I loved all the variety of flowers growing wild around your place. 🌷 All the animals are wonderful to see doing what they want to be doing
I can not Express the smile I got when your boys come in for dinner. At the age were most.others have their nose buried in a device of some kind and an attitude a mile long. Your boys walking in with what I'm sure are self made wood swords. Brings joy to my heart Also I need a smoker
Morrell mushrooms love growing in the springtime from tulip poplar roots, also the flowers in the spring are Heaven scented!! Thank you for sharing your day with all of us!! Blessings!!
Oh yeah, Friday pizza night. Great flower scenes and animal scenes. That was a really long way to pull the hoses over to the ginnea hog waterer. The smoked ham looks fantastic and Meg's pork dish looks amazing too! I loved the NC tradewinds joke! Yay! more wood to cut into lumber! Nice neighbor! Thanks for this Hollars!
I am dreading the end of this run of videos. I am enjoying your channel so very much and look forward to each day's upload. Thanks for sharing them with us, Meg & Ben! Heather🇨🇦
Hey Ben, Instead of dragging water hoses everywhere why not install water hose reels on 4x4s in at key points of your property? Then just connect and disconnect them when you need them. I think,,,, 🤔 it might make life easier. Hopefully
Just love your pizza Fridays, wish I'd thought of that years ago for my kids. The older you get sometimes the more you like the easy conveniences 🤪. Yes I've been where you have, only having to drag three hoses 😂. Be Blessed 😊🇺🇲
I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I have followed you guys for quite some time. you always inspire me. I'm also a California girl who moved to Oklahoma. Side note best thing I ever did. But mostly I want to comment on the cow tongue I absolutely love it. it's funny I live in cattle country and when I talk about eating it or cooking it everybody turns their nose up I just say more for me. They just don't know what they're missing 👍
I’m coming over for dinner. I can small it in Gilbert Arizona. ❤️ love to watch you guys. I don’t miss a video. Awesome family. Thank you 🙏 I appreciate your hard work, and giving us enjoyment. Good night 💤🌙
Bill we love you! North Carolinans are so helpful! When we had a tornado in Nashville 2 yrs ago, North Carolina power was the first one there to help! It says alot about a place when people are so kind! (I'm a beekeeper an NC is #1 beekeeping state,🤔 too)
I binge-watched ALL videos on the channel in one month to catch up on everything that went on. It was quite the emotional roller coaster to see and watch everything y'all have shared. I just love y'all and everything you're about. Y'all're one of my greatest inspirations and I am proud of y'all, period.
I think you, too enjoy mechanical trivia. In spite of the mess people used to raise sweet gum because of their tendency to be rotten in the middle by the time they were about 8-10 inches in diameter - the perfect size for piping. They were raising their plumbing.
Ha!! Carolina trade winds - trades yours with your neighbors - I laffed so hard I choked on my coffee! Thanks for the laugh. Always nice to see a glimpse of what you's are up to. Beautiful family. Healthy living.
can i just say i love to see you sit and pray at dinner. just makes my heart sing. Aww smoked meat!! yummy!! and pizza!!! good food makes the world go around
Thanks for showing the kitchen activities. Hubby and wife working together is an awesome combination. The reason to watch was originally because wifey was so creative in her kitchen an other ventures. Now, I can continue watching her daily creativities again. She and kids are awesome!
Oh it's good to see you guys. It's Kate Hopkins Brent on a loaned tablet I lost everything including our retired husky mom, and kitten Bitsa Tuesday night- my house burned down. My son is in the hospital - got burns over his back trying to get me out my bedroom window, I lost a hold of my husky Sorcha Claire ... firemen found her alive. The vet released her yesterday bringing her to the motel for me - my son is doing great and should be released soon, and my dog is getting more herself daily. A friend came over from Sackville to visit and loaned me her tablet as she knew I enjoyed my subscriptions with coffee .. it's a comfort to have a tiny piece of my oldvnormal routine ... I Enjoyed your videos I've missed and is SO good to see you's 😊
Hi from Australia Guys. Really loving these daily vlogs and seeing what is going on around the farm. I really want a farm... You're helping to fill the void until that happens. Keep it up!
I got rid of my pit boss. Had flare ups and one night while sleeping the power fluttered of and on ruined 40 Lbs of pork butt. I switched to the Dyna Glo vertical propane and wood combo. Works perfect. Talk about set it and forget it.
Yay for free lumber! Can't wait to see what you do with it. ~ Meg, every time I see you pressing out the pizza doughs, I want pizza for dinner. I already planned to have pulled pork tonight because of your last video, lol. Maybe I'll make pizza tomorrow night. ~ Loved it when the boys filed in after Ben rang the dinner bell, swords in hand. That was priceless footage.
Excellent video Ben & Meg! Love the close ups! And Ben repeating the wind joke! Very happy and upbeat! Keep ‘‘em coming ☺️ You are bringing us here in the north some excitement to get to spring like you 🌷god bless!
Okay that was a good one had to stop the video and tell my husband about the NC trade winds we really laughed at that. We have had some good winds lately here in NC. Take care and god bless y'all
Watching you drag those hoses brought it all back to me! I have 250 ft of hose, and routinely find myself dragging, dragging, dragging it hither and yon. It's not smashing all the gardens, as you know, that is time-consuming and a certain amount of an art, a little geometry as well. You showed it all, and I felt for you, Ben!💔
Trade winds....🤣🤣🤣that was funny, trade your stuff for the neighbors!🤣. Cross fit houses! That ham looks awesome! Throw me a little corner! Blessed and happy weekend🤗🤗💜
Rillettes are usually eaten as a starter (cold) with pickles and good bread. For info, there are also duck rillettes and especially goose rillettes that are also delicious.
Have you thought about getting a tank that fits in a small trailer you could fill and pull with your mower? I have a 65 gal transfer tank I put in the back of my truck to transport water to the more remote areas.
You guys are awesome! Could you leave the next video with sound so we can hear all the nature going on around you? I'm always so sad when the blast of annoying music starts when I know you're showing us flowers and trees and animals, I wants to hear it! It's so comforting! I used to live in the country but now I live in the city so hearing all the sounds around you feels like home. Even when your in the kitchen Megan... Just cracking eggs and hearing the screen door slam. I want to hear it! 😊
My grandmother use to make the same thing but with beef. You can make so many dishes like pork and noodles, pork and rice, pork over mashed potatoes. Hope ya'll end up liking it. God Bless!
Can’t wait to see what you build with all that lumber! Time to teach those boys how to paint now lol. And now that Meg has made me hungry I have to go cook! Looks so yum! Thanks for getting back to posting on a regular basis.
This video is why I wish someone would invent "Smell-A-Vision" ! The ham looks so good. For those of us who can't do the smoking, here is another good fresh ham recipe- GRANDFATHER'S HAM - 1 large fresh (not smoked) ham, trim off as much of the fat but not all. (This part is old school) Place the ham in a box (I use an ice chest), pack as much Kosher or large granular salt as possible all over and under. (Do not use table or iodized salt.) Cover and put in the attic for 3 days. (I put mine under the kitchen table). At the end of 3 days remove from box and wash remaining salt off. Place in a large roasting pan. Pack as much brown sugar as you can on but not under the ham. Place in the oven. This receipe was written for a Woodstove, so it says cook on low flame for a long time (I am not kidding. ) Translation - as low as your oven will go, 150⁰ to 200⁰ for 4 to 6 hours. (I check for Temp of 160⁰ to 170⁰ after 4 hours). I have done this in the oven, on the grill in a Dutch oven and in a fire pit in a Dutch oven. This is our family Easter Ham each year. 🌻👍🌻
Tulip poplar is a nice straight grain. Not good for ground contact, but you can make a bunch of nice stuff out of it. As I recall, sweet gum is rather twisty sort of grain. A pain to split, don't know if it's good for lumber or not.
A thought came to mind... what if you could put an IBC tank on wheels... with a spigot near the bottom... and it had a nice little hook-up for the mower... and you could keep it parked under a downspout... ah... sigh... and you had flat land... LOL! (Just for fun thoughts.😁) Blessings to all!🥰🌻🐛
I would use an a tote and some kind of water cathment system to keep it full, and put a hose on the bottom. You could hang tin between trees ,bent in a "v" shape and add a piece of down spout into the tote.
You now have wiring to power your fences over most of the property. Definitely sounds like time to start digging in water pipes to the areas you need water. When you have the funds & the time to do each section of course.
Just an idea I heard. At the corner of your raised beds where hoses get stuck put a piece of rerod into ground slide a piece of pvc pipe over it and hoses pulled across it rotate the pvc and don’t bind up.
prepare ahead by taking a long chain over the back bumper and tie the trailer into the ground to keep winds from knocking it over and another one over the front if can to protect from storms..
Lol, NC tradewinds, lol. And I was just hoping to see you catch that calf. Made it look too easy, no chase to it. That's ok lol. Great looking roast and pizzas! Yum!🥰❣
It is so nice MEG for editing the VLOG'S. You're all working hard and peaceful. O love WATCH each one. Nice music. Animals are happy an full,. Enjoy your Friday Pizza 🍕 FAMILY Evening'. I am enjoying the fest. GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU and PRAYING FOR YOU. CHOW FROM SE MICHIGAN 🀄🀄🀄. Have fun SATURDAY at the Rhodes with your family and FRIENDS.. chow.
Hey Ben, I had to LOL about the Sweetgum Trees. I have several in my yard. My hubby picks up Sweetgum balls everyday. He says he wishes he had cut all of them down when he was younger. Too old to do it now.
Love your videos! I really enjoy seeing you more often. If you can I could use a chunk of that hickory about 2"x4"x24" I'm trying too make a handle for a hatchet that came from my grandad and, haven't been able to sorce a replacement.
If you don't have portable sawmill try the Alaskan chainsaw portable sawmill. I think you would like it. It cuts boards nicely. But if you want to cut real large trees yes a larger chainsaw . It's a bracket that you attach to your chainsaw. Check it out it's reasonable priced.
"Who needs cross-fit? You can drag a hose across property, you will be fit!" This made my day! :D
FARM FIT
Mine too!
I want to mention that I always enjoy your selection of background music and also all the very nice nature shots. I keep forgetting to tell you that. Have a fun weekend.
👍😊
Same
I agree! And will add it, in of itself, is an art form (and time consuming)! Its nice to see others appreciate it🥰
Agree. I like Meg's editing.
I totally agree! Beautiful

I really appeciate the shots of the individual varieties of flowers, mushrooms on logs, and blossoms. They communicate the time and season so clearly.

It's great to see all the animals. I am sure that ham smells and tastes great.

I love rillette, it is going to be so good on your sourdough bread. Add some cornichons!! The best!
Hosefit I love it😂

Love your videos! I really enjoy seeing you more often.
If you can I could use a chunk of that hickory about 2"x4"x24" I'm trying too make a handle for a hatchet that came from my grandad and, haven't been able to sorce a replacement.
I'm definitely getting a smoker for the summer ... mmm hood eating ... remember to stay safe and stay blessed
Wow you’re watering lawn now here in southern Manitoba still have snow I envy you
Northeast Texas has trade winds also.
Happy weekend back!
Cool free lumber, well time, sweat..... So cool.
