Bill Nighy was Shaun's stepdad but was also the Chief Superintendent who banished Nicholas Angel to Sandford. He was also very good in 'Their Finest' a WW2 flick. 'Ash' is a very famous Zombie killer from the 'Evil Dead' films hence Shaun's "I'll be filling in for Ash..." line in the shop at the beginning. Penelope Wilton played Barbara, Shaun's Mum. She's been in loads of stuff but is probably best known now for Downton Abbey or being 'Former Prime Minister Harriet Jones' in Doctor Who.
Appart the cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the dead, Hot fuzz, The world's end) and Paul, they also worked together in Steven Spielberg's Tintin as Thompson and Thomson
In the dvd extras (it has like 4 commentary tracks and they are all great) but there is a small narrated comic about how Diane actually survived the zombies, by beating people with the leg, climbed up a tree and and passed out for like 3 days up that tree
35:02 Yes. The World's End (the end of the Cornetto Trilogy: Shaun, Hot Fuzz, World's End), Paul, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's Star Wars, Spider-Plant Man, Slaughterhouse Rulez, The Adventures of TinTin,
i recommend you : - Zombieland (2009) - Dawn of the Dead (2004) - 28 Weeks Later (2007) also i recommend you a great edit style movies Directed and Starring by Stephen Chow - Kung Fu Hustle (2004) - Shaolin Soccer (2001) - CJ7 (2008)
Evie, you would absolutely love the movie FIDO. BTW, You can see these two paired up in the third Cornetto Trilogy movie The World's End, and the Sci-Fi flick Paul.
"Save Barbara" The line "We're coming to get you Barbara!" is a tribute to Night of the Living Dead's "They're coming to get you Barbara..." Lotta great classic zombie movies out there if you enjoy that sort of thing.
Obviously you need to watch The World's End at some point. But since you mentioned liking the action going along with the music, I also recommend Baby Driver. Same director and lots more synchronized action.
"the World's End" is the third movie of " the Cornetto Trilogy" which was Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost. It's the weakest of the three IMO. They get back together minus Edgar Wright for "Paul" which is hilarious.
I think The Worlds End is technically the best, with the tightest script. But it's not as funny as Hot Fuzz and not as iconic as Shaun of the Dead. Still a great movie. One of the best trilogies.
World's end is dismal and painful to have to suffer through. Shaun of the Dead is hehe-funny due to the premise and a few bits but also just depressing and slow for most of the movie. Hot Fuzz is genius and hilarious.
World's End excels, within the context of The Trilogy; its a complete inversion of the series' tropes, i.e. The role-reversal of the two leads, etc. It is the most 'Hollywood', of the three, but that's a minor issue
I think a lot of people miss that Ed crashed the car on purpose so they would have to take the Jaguar. 🤣 There was no reason for him to even be driving while Shaun was in the house. All he had to do was sit in the driveway.
Everyone is already saying to watch The World's End and Paul with Simon and Nick(which are great) but they started with a show called Spaced, which has a lot of actors who go on to be in the Cornetto Trilogy. If you can find it, give it a look.
Most of the extras are fans of the Pegg/Stevenson comedy series 'Spaced' that Edgar Wright directed. Jessica cameo's as Yvonne, the girl he bumps into with her own 'crew' who comes to the rescue in the finale. They put out an open call on fan groups for help making their movie to keep the budget down. Series 1 Episode 3 of the series was the direct inspiration for the film with Pegg AKA 'Tim' hallucinating after pulling an all nighter playing Resident Evil 2. Also, Shaun’s flatmate Pete was the speaking voice of Darth Maul from Star Wars: ‘The Phantom Menace’.
One of my all time favourite films. It came about because of a little TV show called Spaced. Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg would go on to do great things, as would their friends.
I’ve been subbed for a while now and it’s just kinda dawned on me idk if we know a lot about you? Maybe just like a questionnaire vid for a future idea? Food for thought. Shawn of the dead has always been a fave. Funny and pulls at the heart strings a tad lol 😂

This is part of what is called the Cornetto trilogy. This movie, Hot Fuzz and the Worlds End. And if you want another great movie with these guys, check out Paul.
Although everyone has different opinions, I like "The World's End" best of the three Cornetto films. Probably because it's a genre all of its own. Yes to the "Zombieland" films, and especially "Paul" (watch the unrated version), which pays homage to dozens of sci-fi films and TV series'.
After the "Cornetto Trilogy ("Shaun", "Fuzz" and "World's End", Simon and Nick came to America and made a (Technically) Fourth Movie called "Paul"... They play 2 Sci-fi fans that came to see a Comicon and visit some sites... and meet a new friend along the way... it's Hilarious!
Correction: Not _Dawn,_ but from _Night of the Living Dead_ (both the original and the 1990 remake). Barbara and her brother Johnny being the first two characters introduced.
yes there is also Paul (2011) with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Seth Rogen and The World's End (2013) with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost both funny movies would love to watch your reactions to both of them
The woman Yvonne, who Shaun (Simon Pegg) meets several times throughout the film, is played by Jessica Hines, and they wrote a British comedy series called ‘Spaced’. It was directed by Edgar Wright, who also directed all of The Cornetto Trilogy movies, and starred Nick Frost (Ed). Simon Pegg got the idea for this movie during the filming of an episode of ‘Spaced’ where his character, Tim, was playing a zombie video game, Resident Evil 2, and he mentioned his thoughts to Edgar Wright and was encouraged to work on the script.
Shaun of the Dead is part of a loosely connected trilogy called The Cornetto Trilogy (called such because a Cornetto Ice Cream appears in each of the films). Apart from that they're very different and not connected apart from the fact that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are main characters but in different roles. After Shaun of the Dead you have Hot Fuzz and The World's End.
Love the foreshadowing in Ed's 'plan for tomorrow'. Everything he says happens, but in unusual ways, from 'start with a bloody Mary' to 'stagger back to the Winchester for shots' 🤣🤣🤣
"Okay, Harry (Potter)." This is a comedy but it's one of my favorite zombie movies and packs a pretty good punch -- as we saw with your reactions to the jump scares! Zombieland, also a comedy, is one of my other favorites and is highly recommended, along with the not really funny but excellent 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. Thank you Evie -- this was quite a treat on a Monday night!
Ok, you've basically already been told most of this, but just to give you more of a fuller breakdown. Edgar Wright (director) and Simon Pegg (Shaun) wrote this after first having a successful TV show called "Spaced", that Edgar Wright also directed, and Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes (Yvonne) wrote and starred in together playing flatmates, which I'm guessing is why they put her in this movie as Shaun's female mirror counterpoint that he keeps randomly running into, as something fun for the fans of the show, and/or to just create a gig for a friend because why not. Nick Frost (Ed), wasn't even originally an actor when Simon Pegg first met him when they both worked together as waiters in a restaurant, ended up hitting it off and becoming good friends, and when they got "Spaced" off the ground, he personally thought his idiot buddy was just very funny to him, so wrote him into the show, and then that transferred over to this "Cornetto Trilogy", which this was the first of, then "Hot Fuzz", and then "The World's End", in which none of them really have anything to do with each other, except that it's the same partnership of Edgar, Simon, and Nick, they're all basically a movie geeks take on some wacky genre films, and a Cornetto ice cream makes a random appearance at some point in each of them. These movies basically launched the careers of all three of them. Edgar Wright has been directing other good movies beyond these. As others have mentioned, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost also did a funny movie together called "Paul", and Nick has been in other stuff on his own as well. Simon Pegg has been the biggest break out success from these, including now being a part of the new Star Trek movies, Star Wars movies, and Mission Impossible movies, which is basically a movie geeks dream come true. Bill Nighy (Phillip) is an amazing actor that's been around since maybe the late 70s, but has particularly kind of blown up and been in lots of great stuff for the past 20ish years. He's also a regular in Sir Richard Curtis movies, which is kind of a whole other spiel, but quickly, Richard Curtis was a legendary British comedy writer that among other things, is famous for partnering with Rowan Atkinson and creating the TV shows "Black Adder" and then later "Mr. Bean", as well as him writing a string of successful movies, and then also roughly about 20ish years ago, he also started directing his own movirs with "Love Actually", and since has been making a lot of good stuff. Another couple of my favorite movies of his are "Pirate Radio(US title)/The Boat That Rocked(UK title)" and "About Time". Bill Nighy is in all three of them, and I suggest them all. Also, unrelated to anyone previously mentioned here, but if you see "About Time", you might as well also see "A Time Traveler's Wife" because though different types of movies, they're both very good, and Rachel McAdams plays the time traveler's wife in both of them.
Ed probably ended up as a more productive person as a zombie and Shaun probably couldn't smell his farts over the stench of his decaying flesh, which is nice.
Hi Evie, great to see you!😊 I hope all is well in Canada! "Dawn of the Dead" (1978) is actually a sequel to the original black & white film that started it all, "Night of the Living Dead" (1968). They are both by George A. Romero. There was also a remake "Dawn of the Dead" (2004), but the original is rated higher. Yep, in Hot Fuzz he killed it going over the fences. So, you've seen two out of the three films in the Cornetto Trilogy. The final film with our two stars is "The World's End" (2013). The duo also star in another film not part of the trilogy. It is the comedy/sci-fi "Paul" (2011).😉 Great reactions to your second film in the Cornetto Trilogy, Evie!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 Shaun's stepdad was one of the cops involved in transferring him to the country in Hot Fuzz.😉
It is intentionally frustrating. Get everyone in the second storey apartment, fill the stairs with furniture, tree the elevators, check the other apartments. They would be safe and cozy until the food runs out. The intention is to show Shaun is a lazy loser, and he is rather stupid. The openning credits show people in their dull boring jobs and vapid lives. Then they become Z-words without any change to their behavior. Ed has no character development throughout the movie. The stepdad played Davey Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean. An SS loser in Portrait in Evil. The chief inspector in Hot Fuzz. Underworld.
I love that the zombie kid still nails Shaun with the ball, and zombie Nelson still wants the 15p that Shaun owes him. Brilliant callback humor in the foreground and background.
No no no... DAWN OF THE DEAD...the remake...it's the best zombie movie of all time.....ya Goofy m8te from Australia..so hurry up and watch n react n enjoy...now now now go go go 😂
The third movie in the trilogy 'The Worlds End' is a tad darker than than 'Shaun' and 'Hot Fuzz' but well worth watching, as is 'Paul'.
Pegg and Frost costar in “Paul,” it’s hilarious AND have lots of callbacks to classic science fiction and horror movies…
I didn't find Paul all that funny. A clash of British and American style comedy rarely works. Pegg, Frost, and Wright are the best combo.
One of my favorite “buddy” comedies! Totally underrated!! 👽
@@dan_hitchman007 id say it was average , could only watch once
Bill Nighy was Shaun's stepdad but was also the Chief Superintendent who banished Nicholas Angel to Sandford. He was also very good in 'Their Finest' a WW2 flick. "Yes, we know who she is." 😂
Bill Nighy was also the voice of the Network in The Worlds End
they only had enough money to get a prop cricket bat so that is why Shaun was the only one hitting the zombies coming out of the flat
As well as the 'Cornetto Trilogy' Simon Pegg starred in the TV shows Spaced and Truth Seekers and the films Paul and Slaughterhouse Rulez.

Yup!
First DVD boxset I ever bought.
"The World's End" & "Paul"
Definitely watch the movie "Paul." It has these two in the lead roles, plus Seth Rogan as an alien.
i recommend you :

Try 'Paul'
Dollar Store Harry Potter may have been right up to a certain point about Shaun but he was such a douchy tool about it.
Shaun's roommate is in Guardians of the Galaxy. He was one of the Nova corps pilots. The one who couldn't believe he was taking orders from a hamster
