The explanation was right on what my mechanic said, so thanks for adding credibility to the problem and it validated the mechanics concern.
Excellent video. I have all kinds of pullers and sure didn't want to buy another. FYI if you heat the pulley up on a hot plate to 350 for about 15 minutes it falls on, you don't need the pulley installer. (you do need a puller to remove, heating the pulley up while installed will just heat the cam up also and they will both expand).
Great video, had to get pulley off to fix an oil leak. I used a small 3 jaw HF puller and a little heat (not too much). Put it back on with a little heat, large socket and a hammer. Good to go. Thank you
This belt can be easily installed with a zip-tie. Just wrap the belt around the bottom pulley and as far around the top pulley as possible. Then tip-tie the top pulley and belt together through the spoke of the pulley as far as possible. Bump the engine. The belt wraps the top pulley and the zip-tie gets cut at the same time. My new belt actually came with a zip-tie.

@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore I do not believe this has a heater control valve. The interior flap door is mechanical and it is moving correctly. The floor to defrost actuator is moving correctly with vacuum. I installed a new Motorcraft thermostat, no change. Then I borrowed a NAPA flushing tool from my mechanic. It combined air and water to pulse water pressure through the heater core. The heat came back to a limited level. When I blower the fan across it at high, it is not as hot, it has better heat at low setting. It looks as if I will be replacing my heater core on this thing. I might as well put in a radiator or have it and the hoses flushed at the same time as I do not want that sediment crud going back into a new heater core. New upper and lower hoses are probably in order as well. Regarding the water pump. It works quite well as the fluid flows very well through the bottle when revving the engine.
@@stevegriffith7236 I replaced the heater core. There was still good flow through the clogged one, but I believe it was bypass flow. Works well after a new core install.
Not for my 2006 Ford Escape Limited 3.0L. The camshaft pulley doesn't cover any bolts of the water pump. The uppermost bolts of the pump are about 2 inches lower than the pulley's lowest edge.
@@BenjaminHansen Well I would have to think you are right, the heater core is clogged up
Wouldn't think you would have much flow if heater core was plugged or restricted.
@@stevegriffith7236 I replaced the heater core. There was still good flow through the clogged one, but I believe it was bypass flow. Works well after a new core install.
Is this the same configuration for the 2007 Ford escape?
Yes it is. Thanks you watching
Not for my 2006 Ford Escape Limited 3.0L. The camshaft pulley doesn't cover any bolts of the water pump. The uppermost bolts of the pump are about 2 inches lower than the pulley's lowest edge. This model is manufactured in Kansas City. I was about to look online for a tool to remove the pulley until I checked to make sure and I'm glad I don't have to go through this. It's a good video thought and I still learned quite a bit and I subscribed. The question is aren't all 3L Duratec engines identical? Or the engines are identical, but, surrounding parts can vary?
Awesome video, thanks for doing it!
Thanks for watching
he right i always have issues with air in the system. its aprocess to get full with no air lock
Do you know what the thread is inside the cam someone bothered the threads I need to clean them please help
The one on this car was 8mm X 1.25. Thanks for watching
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore your video has the information that I was looking for, great, one doubt if you can help me, the 8 mm are refered to the head of the screw and the 1.25 is about the grossor of the screw to put it back? Thanks for advanced.
@@luisherrera3896 Its a 8mm x 1.25 pitch bolt to reinstall the pully. Thanks for watching
Where can I get a pulley like that
This was a Matco puller but Harbor freight has puller also. Thanks for watching
that looks like you can rebuild it
Rebuild the pump? Probably could not find the parts to do it. New one are cheap
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore interesting I typed it on Google eBay and Amazon have the kit for under or about 30$. the reason I commented on this is that there are A LOT of hoses you have to disturb and can probably not seat one right or have to replace some. so I just did that to mine I have 3 of them 2 limited all-wheel drive and 1 poor model front wheel all v6 and range from 08 09 10. all mechanical parts match with the exception of the trim and options 2 are loaded 1 is the poor version
@@stinkmeaner9798 Its better the change the whole pump with the back housing because there is a plastic coolant outlet on it that might be brittle and break at a latter time. Better to do the job once that twice. Spend a little more money and replace the whole water pump assembly. Thanks for watching
Hi Where i get. that puller?
This is Matco MST4534 puller. You should be able the get it on line if you not have a distributor in you area. Thanks for watching
what is the internal thread of the shaft of the pulley?
This on was 8mm x1.25 but yours could be different. Thanks for watching

My car is mazda tribute 2008 with 3l
In my mazda tribute 2008 3L there is no thread in the end of the camshaft, just some kind of cup, about 5mm deep. How can I put the pulley back on?
How did you get it on?@@MrHealthy2013
Can this work for a 2012 Ford fursion?
It looks like it is different. It looks like the pump will come out with out taking the pully off the motor on a 2012 according to my info. But if you need to remove the waterpump housing you will have to remove the pully.
The G Automotive And More thank you
COMO DESMONTO LA CORREA Y COMO LA MONTO ESA PARTE NO APARESE EN EL VIDEO
Buen día supiste como uitar la banda correa que me digas y como se llama la herramienta que utilizo para quitar la polea
It's a wonderfull video for me. excelent.
Thank you
You could just loop the belt to the water pump and to the pulley slightly tap it on to the cam. Then use the pulley installer to push the pulley onto the cam I did this the other night it worked fine. Trying to stick a screw driver and have someone start it to loop the belt on is just not smart do not do that. Just loop it to the pump then to the pulley. And barely tap it so it sticks to the cam. Then use the installer to press it back on belt is already looped
Yes you could do that. Thanks for watching
These engines are NOT designed with maintenance in mind. That is not an engineers job , their job is to design an engine to a certain spec to work with X number of platforms and within Y cost .
They should be engineered to do maintenance also.
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore cCant have it both ways. Engineering is a compromise between Max, Min and cost.
@@wilinstonthompson1352 Then why did they redesign it in the later models to make it easier?
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore Did Ford Engineering say it was redesigned to make it easier ? There are several motors in the ford line up that obviously were not designed for maintenance in mind yet they redesigned this one to be ?
@@wilinstonthompson1352 Well they change something because the later ones are different
Great job thanks
You should replace cam seal ...
I was there to fix the overheating. Cam seal did not look like it was leaking.
Very great job
Used this video as reference and the tool for the pulley is only $65 now though
do you have a link for that tool?
Do you have the part number
Great job!
At 2:47 what hose attaches to the bottom piece of that water pump?
There is so many hoses down there I have no idea witch hose you are talking about. Thanks for watching
@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore its the down piece that connects eventually to the heater core in the back
@@thatshadycow2294 I did this 5 years ago and in the video does not show it very good. I would go to Ford parts and get them to look up the exploded view of it to find what you need.
Absolutely ridiculous.... undoubtedly 10s of thousands of hours of engineers designing this engine.... and they intentionally made it so you have to pull the camshaft pulley to service the water pump?... the top two bolts won't clear the camshaft pulley by 3/8 of a inch??? Would like to say bad engineering.... but it's intentional.... turns 2 hour's of labor into 5 hour's of labor.
Lol literally 20 minutes to take off the pulley. This duratec 3.0 engine is one of the most reliable engines when taken care of. An extra 40 minutes to remove and put on the pulley in exchange for a reliable motor and transmission? Any day of the week, YES
Ani tips for camshaft pulley...? Lol
Nope sorry

i did this without pulling the pulleys
You must have a different year. They changed it later on where you don't need to remove the upper pully. Thanks for watching
It is a 2005
I didn't have to remove much just hoses and thermostat housing I'd figured 2005 and 2008 would. be the se they look the same

1. What is the name of the original pully part you need to remove a water pump on a 2006 ford fusion 3.0 ?
2. As well as what is the tools being used in this video??
Having trouble finding anything to remove my water pump...😢😢😢
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
I tried using 3 diffrent pulley removers and none of them worked so what i did was put a piece of 2x4 behind the pulley and beat it off with a small sledge hammer worked like a charm.. Just hit it evenly dont go crazy because you might damage the pulley but saves you time and labor..
@@robgautomotive ditto
Soft wood, hard mallet, even taps, went back on same way
@@robgautomotive I'm having the issue with all these pullers too.
Sorry buddy but u don’t have to remove that partvjuj
Yes you do. This year you have to.
Just battery to remove water pump
Some of the Bolts are behind the pulley.
You don't have to take the pulley off to remove the waterpump. You can order the pump separately and don't have to remove the housing. I did all that myself on 2010 Escape
On this year you do, they changed it on the later years.
This is the 2008 v6. On this one you do.
You dont have to take the pulley out
On some models you do. Thanks for watching
I'm about to do this on my brothers car. want to come help me? lol thanks I'll have to label everything. video is great..
I know you should be able to do it. Thanks for watching.
👏👏👏👌👌👍👍
Dude your wrong
No I am not. This is the way you do this model. They did change it in the later model where you don’t need to pull the pulley off.
