All of the houses on flat properties and Green Street signs on the corner are Culver City . Sloping Lawns and curving Streets are Cheviot Hills or the Plymouth Square area between Western Ave. and Hancock Park . Beverly Hills was a sleepy little farming community prior to the Talkies . The big Studio Heads resided in Los Feliz Estates .
The absolute masters! A truly unique combination of talent, perfect timing and complete genius that could never be repeated.Truly a once only phenomenon! Great series of videos, many thanks for sharing with us.
I love the way you faded in and out some of the old pictures into the location of today. It is kind of haunting. I sit in places with a lot of old history and imagine the people and cars there as they were. I don't know why, I just love the past history of places. I guess that's why I watch these videos. Good stuff. Thank you.
This is pretty fucking awesome! Just think... all these years, and those houses are still standing. Imagine living, in this day and age, on a piece of land where Hollywood magic was created! I wonder if the current owners even know...
Meu Deus, como algo tão simples pode mexer profundamente com nossos sentimentos .tudo até a musica e maravilhosa , obrigado a vocês que consegui postar essas lembranças maravilhosa
I’ve watched lots of these Hal Roach comedies location shots. I have to say that in most cases the homes and buildings are gone. Often, where land was open and vacant, lots of buildings and houses are there now. And where houses still exists it looks as if everyone in Culver City has let their bushes and shrubs just grow wild! There’s wild vegetation everwhere! It even covers homes, runs out into the streets! There are vines which grow from shrub to bush to the house.....! Why is that? Doesn’t anyone in Culver City cut their shrubs!!! In the late 1970s I was out there. Those streets had more vegetation than in the 20s, but from growing up watching so many films made there, i sort of recognized the area very well! It had a terrific feeling! Those flat streets. The bright sunshine, etc. that was then. What happened?
In "Me and My Pal" I've always wondered about the worker that can be seen through the rear window of the taxi. Milkman? Laundry service? His truck and his clothes are all white, I think, so maybe a laundry service. The area looks rather affluent.
Does anyone know the name of the family that lived in the Big Business house when it was being filmed? - 10281 Dunleer Drivr, Cheviot Hills, Christmas 1928.
Wow, some heavy building was going on in the 20's huh? In the "hat's off" scene the staircase is pretty much out in the open with no buildings surrounding it, a few years later during the music box it's already been heavily built around.
........ SUPER E BEAUTIFUL MOVIE !!!! LIKE !!!!
Never get bored of watching these videos, so inspiring.
Great video Thank You

I do the same. Got to be some psychological reasons behind the phenomenon.

This is what I love. And I seriously doubt those L.A. streets are occupied by people in the know.
Buster Keaton filmed a lot around those places also.
Three Stooges also
MAGNIFICO
Those properties are worth a fortune connected with history wow

When you live in the LA area , you grow layers of leafy evergreens to filter out noise and the air .
Great footage..these guys are my heroes..shame about the music box steps being so overgrown in plants etc.. looked so clean and tidy in the 30s..
PSYRAX 64 sometimes 85 years does that to stairs.
The Time Machine, H.G.Wells.......
You should put the locations on Google Map so that we can walk around the area.
That's the house up there.
Right on top of the stoop.
Why no addresses???
In "Me and My Pal" I've always wondered about the worker that can be seen through the rear window of the taxi. Milkman? Laundry service? His truck and his clothes are all white, I think, so maybe a laundry service. The area looks rather affluent.
Most of the songs that we can hear in this video are from "From Soup to Nuts" ^^

PS Great job, Laurel Hardy.
Brilliant
oliver hardy a true georgian
Why certainly
Indeed! But at the same time one of the greatest sons of our planet. Just like Stan Laurel!
Perfect "then" and "now." The only thing that would have been helpful were exact addresses for the color "now" photos.
WOW and WOW and WOW AGAIN !!!!!
Eram dois gênios da comédia mundial.
Time travel!
2:33 - replace that with an Uber minivan now
Sure...maybe.
They need to clone both them dudes and tell them to get they ass back to work!
Filming locations without actually telling us the filming locations, lol
Worthless without the addresses.
$3 to start a business
