New season of Downton Abbey looks a bit dark
At first I didn't take to this production for various reasons, but sticking with it, I found it a really well done representation of J B Priestley's original play with some powerfully moving moments. So, well done cast and crew and many thanks to Jason Farries for making this film version available on RUclips. This production is a very useful resource for any student of English or drama studying Priestley's work.

I remember doing this play in secondary school. Wonderful film adaptation, beautifully directed and great actors. Particularly liked Inspector Goole.
Are you joking? The man playing Mr Birling sounds so scripted it hurts. Shouts his lines the whole time and his timing is awful. So unnatural

It’s to be like in a police station when they have the bright lights when they confess what they did
Sophie Kirby Nah. The lighting needs to be dimmer so it feels more secretive, and mysterious about what happens next or who confesses something next. And people need to be closer to the camera and more in the centre of the screen, especially with the over shoulder shots otherwise it just looks odd.

We got a book called " An inspector calls" in our college as a alternative English at first was completely unaware of this story but gotta tell that everyone should atleast read this or should have this in their institution

The right ear was on holiday at the time but has heard good things about the film and will get round to listening to the film at some point.

I compared this again to the BBC production...great work--I hope that you get a chance to do another film, perhaps Angela Carter's "Nights at the Circus", there was already a Radio play by the BBC and there's a dramatic adaptation by Emma Rice and Tom Morris...it would be wonderful to see more film adaptations of stage plays that actually kept the feeling of the stage play, like this one, the dialogue performance just feels natural.

@@shxh1n137 That's interesting. I mean heavy doesn't necessarily mean fat. Particularly not in an "obese" sense.
Perhaps just being tall with a slightly higher body weight.
I think that's very open to interpretation.
When I considered Mr Birling, my focus was never on his weight, but more his attitude. The Portentous way he behaves and the disregard of other people, certainly his lack of empathy towards Eva Smith. Although I think Priestley would enjoy the irony of a "fat" mr birling, and the correlation between his greed for money and greed for food.

Excellent movie, bravo! Story is unexpected, and that is rare these days. It is hard to find a good new movie, but this is very good film, cast, camera, change and education: to never forget what we should learn from history of human kind...

This is just bad. Everything is extremely poor made, actors included. If I went to the theatre and this is what I’ve got.. I would have requested a refund
