first of all thanks for the video it is very useful. I am actually stressed at the moment and my worry is the type of questions an internal examiner would ask and how to be ready for them.
You're welcome. In my experience, the external examiner asks most of the questions and the internal examiner has an additional role of ensuring the exam and questions are fair. The best way to prepare is to read through your thesis again, with a critical eye, and keep up to date with the literature. Believe in yourself. Hope this helps.

Hi , hope you had a good day. your videos are very usefull thabks for sharing your experience. I am from London University and will soon have my viva by the end of September 2016. I have question from your friend or you how to dress up for Viva being a hijabi. Thanks alot.
You're very welcome and I'm glad the videos are helping! Regarding attire for the Viva, I would advise that you dress in something fairly smart and wear your hijab neatly so you don't have to keep adjusting it during the exam (as you would your hair) and so it's not a distraction. I had my viva in December and I am almost always cold in winter so I wore a fluffy jumper (the one in my thumbmnail), black skinny jeans (that can pass as trousers) and black court shoes. I've seen ladies wear suits and smart clothing at my university but I didn't feel comfortable in that so just wore whatever I wanted :P To stay on the safer side, it's better to overdress and wear smart clothing but remember your examiners hopefully will be focussing on your thesis rather than your looks :) Hope this helps and wish you all the best with your Viva!

Hi Jasim, apologies for the delay in my reply. I caught a flu and just recovered! Yes, I made a powerpoint presentation... little text but lots of figures. I forgot my presentation notes at home!! :O But I didn't need them to be honest as you know your thesis better than you think by the time you submit. I stood up and gave my presentation. I was allocated 30 min but went over oops :D.

I have a great news for you that I had my PhD viva on Monday and I passed it yayyyy;) Thanks for your videos that helped in calming me down! I watched them several times besides all the others that were related to PhD thesis defence in the UK. Though viva experience is unique and different for everyone but these videos really are a confidence booster!

It feels really good to be talking to a fellow Doctor and academic! Only those who have undergone the mammoth experience of the thesis defence can really understand each other feelings and the joy of finally passing it with a huge sigh of relief!
