I grew up with this mall, my family and I used to go there on weekends, it was hoppin’! Where the fountain and Rogers & Holland used to be, I remember where i stood and i was crying because i had gotten separated from my family when i was a kid. At one point there used to be a WB store and a Disney store (Family Piano!) there. There also used to be a theater (i saw Kingsman there) past the Bath & Body works (which i guess moved?) and somewhere in the mall, there was an arcade. One of the storefronts near the arcade was a tshirt store.

This was not part of the Mill mall that were populated in the 1990s.
This was a regular mall and all the store were fulled in the 80s with name brand / non-outlet stores.
Still ended up the same category though.

The professional building will still be there until middle of 2025 from what I’ve heard!

@@robstravelsadventures I think it’s easy to get elevator access for sure even if I’ve never been to Chicago/Niles before!

I missed this video when it came out. May be the first one I've seen you do a mall. Just filmed my second (and probably last?) video here. It's really unclear exactly when they will "close". Sadly, I don't have much history here. But really enjoyed walking the north end. Unfortunately, my last visit Spirit Halloween (which took over Value City) was blasting their "hip teen music". Kinda hurt the vibe and not very RUclips friendly.

That was the mall i grew up near as well as Oak Mill Mall which you covered both. I only did Golf Mill, but Oak Mill Mall when it first opened was more retail and now it is more prepfessional. They had a geeat o e cream shop called Malonies which was themed like a 1900 ice cream shop.

One other thing is malls are starting crack dowb on filming. I was told to stip at Northbrook Court a few months ago. I think they do not like a video out there since they are 1/2 empty and prospective tenants might not feel like it is a good idea to move in with low pedestrian traffic.

@@robstravelsadventures that's unfortunate with Northbrook. I did Northbrook as well not too long ago. And noticed a high security presence. There are many reasons given why filming at malls is so difficult. Mall cops on a power trip. Filming on "private" property. Protecting "intellectual" property. Individual's right to privacy. And yes, even dead malls wanting to protect their image. I think it is a combination of everything. And depends on the mall, ownership, and the contracted security company. I wouldn't encourage anyone not to film. But just to be more aware of their surroundings, who's ahead of you, who's behind you, always thinking two steps ahead, as I've been gradually learning to do. More discreet filming equipment is also a benefit. I've only had one bad run in with security so far. That was Racine. And I expected that going in. Simon malls specifically say filming for personal reasons is permitted. Which would include Woodfield, Gurnee, and Pleasant Prairie. I've never had an issue with anyone at Hawthorn or Spring Hill. Sometimes you just run into the wrong person at the wrong time. Even Racine, if I had been smarter about it, I probably could have gotten that video in.
