I found how Jenny died. She died of a heart attack because the crimes never left her mind and she became a “nervous recluse”. She died November 5th, 2015
I was going to say the same thing. A hymen is more like a hair scrunchie than a breakable seal. Every woman is different. Some it can change after sex, some don't. It's a false identifier of virginity.
Abby Rockwell exactly! Also, sexual abuse can exist in many shapes and form. Like, they forced her to masturbate in front of multiple people, that’s already considered sexual violence..
I can’t even comprehend what this girl went through. This is heart breaking. Thank you for sharing this I like to know about these things and be more aware.
I came across the movie about it when I was very young. I remember being extremely distressed because I could not comprehend the actual evil that happened to that poor girl who at the time that I watched it was older than me when she was died. I think it was the first time I felt pure hatred for any individual and it was for the vile woman who did that to her
and to know that the all got barley any time is disgusting. paula might still be a teacher and is living a free life with her family. i would love to find her one day and make her feel what she inflicted. the thing i would do if i could
It's important to be aware of stuff like this, in case you are in a position to stop the abuse and save a life. A similar, arguably worse kidnap/torture/murder happened to Junko Furuta in Japan. She was abused so badly that she had one big opening down there rather than the usual two.
But there's no nobility in that. That just shows that the people who do it as a punishment are no better than people deserving it. And then it becomes a vicious cycle
okay but if CHILDREN or ANYONE ever came to me & told me they were abused I would NEVER not believe them & i wouldnt let them leave without making a report like wtf dude this is sooo sad
I just saw this and had to respond because honestly this is so important. Everyone needs to have this mindset. People don’t realize that even if there is a possibility the person is lying about being abused, the chances of them telling the truth are way higher. No person or child especially should be turned away when speaking up, it allows their abusers to do further damage. Whether you know for sure or have doubts, take action because in the end it could end a lot like this 💔 (the show unbelievable on Netflix is pretty good, true story about a rape victim accused of lying until 3 years later when similar cases come to light)
Unfortunately it’s a taboo subject especially during the time it took place. It’s sad that even now it take a multiple calls and situations before a child is taken out of these situations.
I just watched “an american crime” a month ago and was just sobbing. i suggest watching it if anyone ever has the chance. sylvia went through actual hell at the hands of way too many kids
I felt pure rage against the abuse this girl wit though. The bullshit they put her though pissed me off big time. I also watch the same movie with friends.
I read about her case when I was maybe 16- it scarred me. Truly a sign of human brutality and the horribly heartbreaking lengths people can inflict suffering.
I would like to point out, that the “hymen” is stretchy. Sort of like how the webbing between your fingers can me moved. It’s not supposed to “break” or “tear”. If it does, you’re supposed to stop whatever you’re doing immediately. Also, the hymen CAN be “torn” by exercise, tampons.. etc. Just a little note in case you didn’t know! Glad you’re feeling better, great video!
Exactly. A hymen isn't something that proves or disproves virginity. I think that some people think of it as something that will always "break" the first time you have penatrative sex and it will forever mark you as a non virgin. "Subjects who admitted having past intercourse still had non disrupted, intact hymens in 52 percent of cases." "Only 2 of 36 adolescents had genital changes that were diagnostic of penetrating trauma." (In a study of pregnant girls) A hymen is a stretchy piece of skin around the vagina. That's it. It's not something that MUST be "popped" and it's not something that will ever go away or be a clear indicator of virginity or otherwise.
I watched An American Crime when I was 14 or 15 years old, so I was Sylvia's age. I ended up hyperventilating in an anxiety attack. I was in a trance for MONTHS searching for information about the case and "mourning" her. I never watched the movie again and couldn't make myself watch The Girl Next Door. Rest in Piece Sylvia.
If your obsessed with her new videos, I recommend you watch her really old ones. I recommend the story times that have 3-4 parts there very very good and calming. 💙💙💙
I love you and your videos but I have to get this out there: YOU CAN’T SEE IF SOMEONE IS A VIRGIN! There is so much miss information out there. (During the time of her death they believed that you could). The hymen is a ring of foldes that is flexible, it doesn’t break. Yes, some people do bleed during their first penetrating sexual encounter due to some small ruptures. There is no way you can tell if someone is a virgin by looking at the hymen. (No matter what people like T.I thinks...). Edit: Everyone, please watch Mama Dr Jones’ video about T.I. She talks about the fact that you can’t see if someone is a virgin or not.

This is the most horrific case of child abuse I have ever heard. It makes my blood boil just thinking that the caretaker was paroled and was able to live a normal life after the heinous crimes that she comitted.
I live in Indianapolis and when I was a kid they had a memorial service for Sylvia on her birthday and I would always give my mom a stuffed animal to take. She also has a memorial statue too. They tore down the house some years ago. My heart breaks whenever I pass where it used to be.
I literally started crying because that’s unbelievable and disgusting! She didn’t deserve that what so ever, no one does😓 it’s heartbreaking how heartless people can really be..
There was another case in the 1980s very similar to this one, Theresa Knorr, who tortured and killed a daughter and tortured another daughter who survived. I really don't think I'll fully be able to comprehend these cases. It's evil in its purest form.
i saw another video on a case where an abusive father trapped his daughter in the basement for 24 years and no one knew. he came up with lies like there were animals in the basement and was also abusive to his family so they wouldn’t dare to check down she was abusive physically, mentally and sexually making her have i think 8 kids but one died due to poor health n the father didn’t want his cover blown so he just let it die. i think 3 of children were let outside as babies to be taken care of by the mom because he would force her to write notes saying that she couldn’t take care of the baby and such so they had normal lives since she was having so many babies he would make the children and his daughter (all technically his children) dig through the basement to make room. after all this the eldest daughter of the trapped girl (her names elizabeth) was really sick and she begged the father to take her to the hospital and he did but the doctors and stuff were sketched out that this girl “didn’t know” where she lived, who her mother was and other simple questions because she was beaten pale and sick. elizabeth had tv and other stuff but has never been outside since she was 19 (when she got trapped) so she begged the father again to let HER outside so she could cover it and he let her so she kept quiet about this until she couldn’t anymore and let it all out THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME SHE WAS OUTSIDE IN 24 YEARS!!! and her children and NEVER been outside..... it was such a sad story but now elizabeth lives in a completely different place under a new identity with guards surrounding her place at all times. basically under a witness protection program sorry this was so long

Oh my God. This story is devastating. I couldn't make it through it without crying. Thank you for sharing it with such compassion. I'm so sorry to hear that people are harassing you online. It embarrasses the shit out of me that people older than me would be harassing you. You are a beautiful girl. Keep your chin up. You did a great job with this content and I will keep watching.
You should look up the murder of Sandra Renee Cantu. I was a little girl when it happened and it happened in the area I lived in. It’s truly horrifying. And scarred everyone in the area.
I had no idea The Girl Next Door was based on a true story. I saw that movie like 5 years ago and it was one of the most heartbreaking and disturbing movies I had ever seen. So tragic.
the sheer number of people that participated in the abuse is absolutely disgusting. 5 neighbors? 3 people within the home? Jesus, i can’t imagine watching my sibling or close friend go through that it’s absolutely awful and truly evil. I love watching your videos, it is so important to tell the stories of those who aren’t here to tell theirs anymore. I love you girl! keep making videos! Sending positive thoughts
There could be alot of things going on, hopefully she gets what she needs to heal soon. She could have depression or CFS or something. Hopefully she’s alright.
American crime is such a great adaptation. It is so sad what they did to sylvia. I was so moved by the movie and left so angry at what transpired. Side nite: to hear that they had confided in the sister and she didn't take them seriously breaks my heart. IF YOUR CHILD TELLS YOU OF ABUSE HAPPENING TO THEM OR OTHERS PLEASE GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT!!
Your MM video was featured on Natalia Taylor's youtube video too!! I love youuuu. I hope you feel better soon. I've been feeling the same way. So glad to see you back
I read a thread about her quite a while ago and I’ve never read something so heartbreaking. It’s just horrendously messed up and makes me sick to my stomach.
OBSESSED w/ you, dude! i found your channel through Natalia Taylor & then I checked out your MM video and I LOVE YOU ALREADY. the way your articulate your stories and your voice is so captivating and you’re GORG. dude, new subbie here. THANK YOU FOR BEING ON THE INTERNET, GIRLIE.
I remember watching The Girl Next Door when I was younger, but like you, I never knew it was based off of real events. Sylvia's story is so heartbreaking it makes me sick to my stomach knowing that there waaaay more disgusting people like this in the world than most of us think. I love your videos by the way. I'm a huge fan of true crime/letsnotmeet/paranormal shit so your account is perfect for me! Keep up the great work. 🙌🙌💜
I've watched a lot of true crime, but I have never felt this uncomfortable and upset before. People can be really sick and it is horrible that others have to suffer from that.
I watched both movies and I can imagine what Sylvia went through it was so tough to watch in 'an American crime' where Stephanie was on the floor with her dead body and I was crying so hard and in 'the girl next door' when david and meg were together I started crying so hard
This whole story is so heartbreaking. I can't believe that no one would help her and that the kids were okay with this. It's disgusting and so sad that no one showed her love
Living for your channel rn! You’re bringing back things I used to research heavily! Like McKamey Manor, & now Sylvia!... I was visiting my aunt a few years back & An American Crime was playing on their TV... it really impacted me and I kept researching it... but I did too came upon A girl next door movie... crazy what she went through!
I haven't watched American Crime in years, but I remember how upset I was for days after. It's so hard to watch knowing this nightmare was someone's reality. I just hope she's resting easy somewhere beautiful. 💔
This is absolutely heart wrenching. Like.. omg.. the amount of people who were involved. Like.. this makes me so ashamed to be a human. What horrible, dreadful, sick excuses for people. Ugh
That is so messed up I can’t even put it into words My heart goes out to her and I can’t believe that anyone would do that to such a soul, the people who abused her or witnessed it with consent I just- that’s so messed up
A specification: the hymen is NOT intact. It has a hole/multiple holes, where periods come through. During penetration it just stretches more, BUT it can happen in lots of other ways (simple cartwheels for example). If a hymen is intact it has to be surgically opened.
i remember stumbling upon Girl Next Door some years ago and it honestly broke my heart. the blow torch scene, the scenes that she’s just lifeless and they continue to abuse her.... honestly numbing. i never knew it was a true story, that’s even worse.
i watched _an american crime_ when i was nine and _the girl next door_ a few years later and still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s a true story. it’s so hard to believe how cruel the world is at time. i watched it again a couple years back and it was still giving me nightmares
I'm "older" but I love your channel I've been watching for awhile and I really like it. The Sylvia Likens case happened in my city. I remember being shown the house she was tortured in, my high school was in that neighborhood. Her daughters went to the same High school I attended (earlier than I did, I went in 76). Gertrude and her family were just insane. This was a horrible, horrible thing to happen to Sylvia and her sister.
an american crime is literally my all time favorite movie of all time i love ellen page so damn much for this role. this story is so old but its so terrible and sad i cry everytime i watch the movies about it :(
This is so heartbreaking. I watched The Girl Next Door when it first came out and I cried the entire movie. I cannot fathom the idea of hurting another soul or manipulating my children to hurt another. Watch this movie with caution as she says
My dad grew up one street over from where this happened. My aunts were almost old enough to hang around the group of kids that did this to her. Theres now just an empty plot where the house was. My aunt still lives in the neighborhood.
me: has a mental breakdown to my best friend my best friend: makes me feel better this video: hey sis so basically t o r t u r e me: ight ima stay tuned
I just want to point out, that’s not how hymens work, they don’t indicate ‘virginity’ they can get broken form anything, splits, those back riding etc.
The girl next door was THE MOST traumatising movie I have ever watched, I don’t think anyone should watch it. I understand it’s to bring awareness to what she went through but the grief I went through after watching that is something I’ll never forget. I cried and actually screamed in pain through the whole thing.
This was absolutely heartbreaking and stomach turning. I can't even comprehend what she went through... Best of luck with the doctor, your symptoms sound a lot like when my iron, b12 and folates plummet. All easily resolved with injections and medication though ☺️ thanks for your hard work on this video 🥰
I watched both of the movies they both made me cry and I have depression like you do and it was just so hard to watch without breaking down and having me be sad all day because of it people are just so cruel and and I just can’t comprehend it at all and things I’ve been threw just I had broken down crying it can’t explain how bad and terrible I feel for that girl
Also I watched them as a learning purpose of the real dangers out there that you could be living with and just get a better understanding of the crazy people out there one day I want to be a detective for homisides armed robbery and there was one more thing I wanted to do with all but I can’t remember what it’s called btw I’m 12 and have had this dream sense I was 10 and I’ve watched many of you’re videos and many others for education about the world and how people investigate things sorry this is so long I love you!
This makes me SO FURIOUS!I didn’t even know these many psychopaths could live in the same neighborhood!!!!!Everything that she was put through god it makes me want to start crying because you truly don’t know what anyone is going through!

i remember the first time i heard about this case was when i was working in an office. i live in indiana, and this happened in, i believe, indianapolis. it was so heartbreaking. i remember looking more into it again recently. it's just a few hours' drive to where she's buried, and one day i want to bring her flowers. it honestly breaks my heart to think about what she went through.
(when you live in indiana and find out some past) This. Is. Horrible. She didn't deserve any of that.. Thank you for sharing her story, it needed to be heard so that we can help and find people like her.
I watched An American Crime on youtube for free before i even saw this video, it was honestly really hard to watch and see what that poor girl went through but its worth watching. I had no idea about her getting out and becoming a teach tho. that is fucking crazy. Im glad someone called the school and got her out of there. Love your videos!
I watched the movie, and read the story. The inhumanity of it. It sickened me to see grown woman that made her bed punish a child a beautiful child full of light! How dare she drag her to her darkness and try to stamp her out, she is in the light so shall shall she be as a guardian angel for all children in need of her help of these present day predators. I made a difference and spoke out.
This reminds me of the murder of Kitty Genovese, who was murdered on a public street with dozens of witnesses back in 1964, the year before Sylvia died. Both two young women lost at the hands of dozens of bystanders and it’s absolutely heartbreaking to hear their stories.
I found how Jenny died. She died of a heart attack because the crimes never left her mind and she became a “nervous recluse”. She died November 5th, 2015

Yes! About to say that! Hymen doesn’t equal virginity! There’s more info about this in the most recent Dr.Mama Jones video who is a ObGYN.
Thank you! People really have to stop believing that you can see if someone is a virgin or not by looking at their hymen.
It does prove she was never pregnant, however, it doesn't disprove any sexual abuse which I'm sure unfortunately happened.

Khanh Nguyen it feels homey
I don’t know why but this reminds me of that book called “a child called it”
You should look up the murder of Sandra Renee Cantu. I was a little girl when it happened and it happened in the area I lived in. It’s truly horrifying. And scarred everyone in the area.
This happened in the town I grew up in. Broke everyone's hearts.
I literally was sobbing the first time I heard her story. So sad:(
I had no idea The Girl Next Door was based on a true story. I saw that movie like 5 years ago and it was one of the most heartbreaking and disturbing movies I had ever seen. So tragic.
I'm not generally sensitive to movies but the girl next door had me in tears. It was scary.
the sheer number of people that participated in the abuse is absolutely disgusting.
It sounds like your iron is low. I was experiencing the same symptoms a few weeks ago.
She should also stop drinking diet coke, that shit has aspartame and it can fuck up your brain a lot
There could be alot of things going on, hopefully she gets what she needs to heal soon. She could have depression or CFS or something. Hopefully she’s alright.
I felt the same way when I had severe anemia. I actually passed out at work.
i live in indianapolis & i have NEVER heard of this... heartbreaking. so disgusting. may she rest in peace now.
this is absolutely heartbreaking- everyone who contributed deserves to burn in hell
the kids don't really but the woman in charge of it all and the one's who were like- idk, maybe over 14 or 15
Her and Junko Frutua are some of the most saddening cases I've heard.
THANK YOU FOR BEING ON THE INTERNET, GIRLIE.
i've watched both 'an american crime' and 'the girl next door', but never thought this girls story would be as terrible as this. bless her 💖
I remember watching The Girl Next Door when I was younger, but like you, I never knew it was based off of real events.
This story and the story of Junko always messed me up... they're similar in some ways
I watched both movies and I can imagine what Sylvia went through it was so tough to watch in 'an American crime' where Stephanie was on the floor with her dead body and I was crying so hard and in 'the girl next door' when david and meg were together I started crying so hard
I don't need to watch a movie to visualise it.
I can imagine myself in situations perfectly. Its my special talent.
“And no ones going to help her!? Wow some world we live in”
This whole story is so heartbreaking.
Ugh
That is so messed up I can’t even put it into words My heart goes out to her and I can’t believe that anyone would do that to such a soul, the people who abused her or witnessed it with consent I just- that’s so messed up
The fact such a young girl went through such torture just because her father didn’t pay on time is disgusting like I’m nearly in tears.
A specification: the hymen is NOT intact. It has a hole/multiple holes, where periods come through. During penetration it just stretches more, BUT it can happen in lots of other ways (simple cartwheels for example). If a hymen is intact it has to be surgically opened.
is it just me or is her voice hella satisfying to anyone else
i saw the girl next door when i was like 13-14 and it literally scarred me for life. i am just not the same after watching that horrific movie.
Oh man that’s crazy about how she was treated. I feel bad for her.
i remember stumbling upon Girl Next Door some years ago and it honestly broke my heart. the blow torch scene, the scenes that she’s just lifeless and they continue to abuse her.... honestly numbing. i never knew it was a true story, that’s even worse.
i hope that girl is in a better place. god bless. this breaks my heart.
This story always breaks my heart. When I first heard it, it bothered me for weeks. The pain she went through is unimaginable
i watched _an american crime_ when i was nine and _the girl next door_ a few years later and still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s a true story. it’s so hard to believe how cruel the world is at time. i watched it again a couple years back and it was still giving me nightmares
As soon as you said Gertrude I remembered hearing about this case a couple months ago
This is heartbreaking and it pisses me off. That family was just a bunch of monsters; not human beings. Like omg...😢😡
“A lot of old people are being mean to me”
I'm "older" but I love your channel I've been watching for awhile and I really like it. The Sylvia Likens case happened in my city. I remember being shown the house she was tortured in, my high school was in that neighborhood. Her daughters went to the same High school I attended (earlier than I did, I went in 76). Gertrude and her family were just insane. This was a horrible, horrible thing to happen to Sylvia and her sister.
an american crime is literally my all time favorite movie of all time i love ellen page so damn much for this role. this story is so old but its so terrible and sad i cry everytime i watch the movies about it :(
Did anyone notice one of the Kardashian’s hacks about the Oreos in the back. Ik this is serious but I just needed to point it out.
This is so heartbreaking. I watched The Girl Next Door when it first came out and I cried the entire movie. I cannot fathom the idea of hurting another soul or manipulating my children to hurt another. Watch this movie with caution as she says
I saw the thumbnail and immediately knew it was about Sylvia Lykins. Also I hope you're starting to feel better Coach, we missed youuu ❤️
My dad grew up one street over from where this happened. My aunts were almost old enough to hang around the group of kids that did this to her. Theres now just an empty plot where the house was. My aunt still lives in the neighborhood.
me: has a mental breakdown to my best friend
my best friend: makes me feel better
this video: hey sis so basically t o r t u r e
me: ight ima stay tuned
You may have a vitamin D deficiency, or a thyroid problem. I have that combo and before I was put on medication for both, I never had energy.
Hearing all of this genuinely made me want to vomit. It's so difficult to hear that people can be so cruel.
All easily resolved with injections and medication though ☺️ thanks for your hard work on this video 🥰
you should put her name in the title or at least the description

Love you coach. Glad you’re back
i remember the first time i heard about this case was when i was working in an office. i live in indiana, and this happened in, i believe, indianapolis. it was so heartbreaking. i remember looking more into it again recently. it's just a few hours' drive to where she's buried, and one day i want to bring her flowers. it honestly breaks my heart to think about what she went through.
(when you live in indiana and find out some past)
This. Is. Horrible. She didn't deserve any of that.. Thank you for sharing her story, it needed to be heard so that we can help and find people like her.
AHHHH I NEVER BEEN THIS ESRLY
This is heartbreaking..
I actually found you from the McKamey Manor video and now I'm binge-watching!
i can't even fathom how these things can still happen in the world. i feel sick.
chills as soon as i clicked on the video
bruh wth
