- I originally built this organ in December of 1992. It's been stored the last thee years, and I only recently got it going again. One of the pipes needed fixing.

Good old green machines in the basement, looks like Matthias is back 🙂👍
Very nice playing Rachel!
You never cease to amaze me Matthias!
Speaking of mazes, it would be cool if he did more videos regarding the rat maze experiments
Amazing family.
How is the injury going, Mattias? Glad to see you're still creating content. Hope you're healing up ok.
Every time I watch one of Matthias’ videos I feel like such a slug...he is sooo smart!
Same here lol
Totally agree. 5:51
Builds an organ, marries a girl that can play it.
Definition of awesome.
OR. Marries a girl that can play and builds her one as a gift.
The organ came first.

Amazed to see your old creations still around and working. Most of my stuff just gets lost to time and not having any space, but it's always fun to pull out old homemade toys.
I found your video fascinating and appreciate your musical knowledge and the obvious keyboard skills of Rachel. Her hand position and style while playing demonstrates fine training from an accomplished teacher. Thank you for creating this video!
Very cool with your own homemade organ. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless and merry Christmas to you and your family
I watched the video and read your article on the organ. Enjoyed them immensely. Thank you very much for all that you do.
Yay! Bandsaws, table saws, genius working methods and awesome content. Thanks Matthias
Great seeing you back! That little organ has a nice sound to it.
Merry Christmas Matthias, thank you for your videos :)
Id love to watch you build new organ! Bet you could make a great series of videos on it.
Matthias, good to see the organ back, repaired and being played! Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family!
Good to see you back. Back in the day I tried to imbue in my students an abiding interest in science. You epitomize this by showing how a grasp of basic physics combined with boundless curiosity explains and extends knowledge of the world around us. Thank you.
I love how it sounds! It's so "quaint" and calming!
It makes a really good sound for an amateur effort. It sounds a little "breathy" though, which suggests that the cut ups are a little too high for the wind pressure. Have you ever considered putting tuning flaps on the pipes? Much easier to tune and they only require a small modification from what you have already.
That's how we like your videos. Rachel plays pretty well btw!
You and your wife are very fortunate to have each other. I know that your children are going to grow up proper loving adults thanks to your fine examples of how to support each other. Merry Christmas and blessings for the New Year!
Really a fantastic project. I have always been fascinated with pipe organs, even as a kid. I had the great fortune to grow up in Sacramento, CA. where we had a restaurant called Pizza and Pipes. They had a fully decked out Wurlitzer Theater organ, with all the accessories, and a great organist by the name of Stuart Boyer. He mostly played requests, there was a box beside the consol where you could drop your request, and I would sit for hours , nursing my pizza, and cold drink, and listening to the organ.
Glad to see your back starting to do things in your shop again!
Amazing build & I can't believe that it still plays after 26 years!
Thanks for all you have shared with us! Hopefully your recovery goes well.
That would have made a great build video. Very cool
What an amazing project! So great you were able to bring it back into use. Thanks for the video.
It's quite amazing that you can create such a cool organ! Awesome job!
You here? Haven't seen you in a while... Already received the silver play button?
He has returned!
Go away, don't come round here no more.
All cool organs are created.
@@diederikvandedijk I like what you did there. Some of the coolest organs are the heart, lungs, liver, and skin.
What a nice video.... more of that and the nice music too :) Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for your videos.
It’s awesome to see you in a shop environment again.
Matthias, you are a genius! What I do with my videos is nothing compared to this. I am a big fan of your work! RESPECT!
Now THAT'S the Mathias we came to Know & Love!!! Well Done Mat!
Yet another great video. It's amazing how you're able to do so many things so well. You're quite the master craftsman and artist.
👍
Nice seeing the sleds and saws going again. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Wow! Incredible Mr. Wandel. Thanks so much for your videos.
You’re the coolest dude on the planet!
Great to see you building again! Glad to see your pipe organ survived the journey to NB with you.
I wasn't going to throw it out!
how awsome it must feel to see your wife enjoying one of your creations, kudos
Quality content, great to see you’re back in the shop
Merry Christmas, Matthias, to you and your family.
Hope you're healing up well.
New shop looks great! Looking forward to seeing more content!
Gotta be one of the smartest dudes around. Love your stuff.
Glad to see you’re back in the shop Matthias, hope your tendinitis is doing okay!
Great project, Matt. The organ has a wonderful timbre and sounds a lot like the renaissance organs in smaller churches in Europe. But your constant pressure pump gives it a more stable tone. Really nice.
I'm so glad you fixed the Pipe Organ
Good eye locating the problem, interesting that pipe organ. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays !
I have been hoping you would revisit the organ - those were the videos that brought me to your channel years ago!
You are a creator without limits and I wish you success and success everywhere in the world
You have a wonderful and fun style in presenting the subject
Thank you
I still think he is the modern day Da Vinci. Doing beautiful projects without overwhelming modern tech. Beautiful!
A pipe organ? You made a pipe organ at home, out of wood? That is the neatest thing ever!
This sounds absolutely amazing!
WOW unfassbar tolles Projekt, höchster Respekt und Anerkennung mein lieber Matthias. Frohe Weihnachten und ein tolles neues Jahr mit viel Gesundheit für Dich und deine liebsten. LG
Glad to see you back again. Happy new year.
Is there anything you cant make in your woodshop? You are a legend mate
"looks like leakage was the problem." You're a grown man Peter, stop giggling...
Maybe you shouldn't of dipped it
hahahahahaha.... yer hilarious =)
Hope you and family have a nice relaxing xmas dude. Hope you're healing well!
I know the analytics seem to indicate a lot of people click away when the music starts in videos like this, but I for one would be interested in a longer video of Rachel playing that thing.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Absolutely enjoy your videos. I see why you made the organ... Rachel plays very well.
Matt, you amazing man!
After watching this video ...... I feel FULLFILLED! Thank you so much!
you keep making me wonder how you come up with all that you do, keep it up i love it
Matthias did you escape from NASA for a wood working career? Your ability to solve problems and create things (your work shop tools) is over the top amazing - thank you for sharing
Close. He was on the ground floor when RIM started.
We need a full build series on this!
Seriously cool! Thanks for sharing Matthias.
Wow! Great video. Engaging on several levels.
Very cool! Merry Christmas to you and all you love!
Well done Matthias! As always!
Wow! I would love to see a build series on building an organ - or another instrument!
I could just sit hear and listen to Rachel play that all day.
Of course you made your own pipe organ. That is a wonderful project.
Happy to see the organ again!
A modern heirloom. Nice fix.
Excellent video! How to voice them was very interesting to learn. They remind me of the square bore Native American style flutes I make 🙂
You are excellent. Not only good at carpentry but music reviewing as well
Nice video Matthias! Thanks for sharing it with us' Merry Christmas! To you and your family!👍😎JP
I see you listening (vs looking at a tuning device) to get the pitch perfect and know you're one of us.
Oh no, I always use tuning aids. Back in the early 90s when I built it, these didn't exist, so I wrote a little program on my commodore 64 where I could tune the computer to the pipe, and then the computer could tell me the frequency and how far off it was.
Cool! Matthias, my music-school students are excited! Greetings from "Musikschule Klimpertaste", Germany
Awesome work Matthias. Hope you are feeling better. Your vids are the best :)
Any time we can get another Wandel family member in the video -- whether it's kids or wife -- it definitely adds value.
I find that it's quite rare that kids add to a video and doesn't just feel like clickbait or annoying filler
I've said it once and I'll say it again you were wicked talented dude
Brilliant man.
Merry Christmas 🎄💐🎄
Be blessed. 👋🏼
Hey just want to say I love your videos. Happy Holidays!
Very impressive! If you're ever down in New England, I'd be happy to show you around some of our big organs.
Very cool build and that Rachel knows how to play!
Nice Mathias, glad to see you able to perform some projects again and very ingenious on the build but I'm a Hammond player so have a different sound I like but the pipes sound great.
Hope you’re getting better Matthias, RUclips needs you!
I had not heard the organ being played before. It handles the differing demands on the air supply quite well. (1 pipe vs. 2 or 3). there was a big! problem with this in the 19th century, when organs started to get much bigger and louder.
Nice work.
Love your creations!
a homemade organ? is there anything you didn't make? you're the best!👍😀
Incredible patient Man 😳 great job 👍
Wow that's some finicky stuff, incredible work. I would have thought those knots would make for a terrible tonewood, but I guess not. Sounded great.
We miss you Mr Wandel. Get better soon.
It's good to see you back making real videos again Matthias, I was getting worried about you making those obsessive youtube stats vids :)
It's so nice to see that you have.... Organised those pipes ;) .
Very interesting. I must say I got a big smile watching your wife play the organ :^) Although it has been some time my wife also plays. Thanks for posting!
Great to see you. That was really interesting. I would love to have seen a complete build video of the organ, it's such a cool item. Hope all is well with you and the family, best wishes.
when I built that, all there was was VHS or betamax camcorders!
I would love to see more organ videos! Time to add another manual and rank of pipes!
nice to revisit the organ again sounds good.
Matthias you are the best, Greets from Germany
How does Matthias know everything ever? Like, seriously. I'm a hobbyist and have a lot of knowledge about a wide array of things, but I'm a babe in the woods watching these videos.
Your wife really loves you, such a monstrosity in the living room!! Sooooo coooool! Thank you Mathias!
