  • I originally built this organ in December of 1992. It's been stored the last thee years, and I only recently got it going again. One of the pipes needed fixing.

  • @patrickmeyer2802
    @patrickmeyer2802 5 лет назад +5

    It makes a really good sound for an amateur effort. It sounds a little "breathy" though, which suggests that the cut ups are a little too high for the wind pressure. Have you ever considered putting tuning flaps on the pipes? Much easier to tune and they only require a small modification from what you have already.

    Really a fantastic project. I have always been fascinated with pipe organs, even as a kid. I had the great fortune to grow up in Sacramento, CA. where we had a restaurant called Pizza and Pipes. They had a fully decked out Wurlitzer Theater organ, with all the accessories, and a great organist by the name of Stuart Boyer. He mostly played requests, there was a box beside the consol where you could drop your request, and I would sit for hours , nursing my pizza, and cold drink, and listening to the organ.

      Oh no, I always use tuning aids. Back in the early 90s when I built it, these didn't exist, so I wrote a little program on my commodore 64 where I could tune the computer to the pipe, and then the computer could tell me the frequency and how far off it was.

    I had not heard the organ being played before. It handles the differing demands on the air supply quite well. (1 pipe vs. 2 or 3). there was a big! problem with this in the 19th century, when organs started to get much bigger and louder.
