- The Shield is one of the most successful factions in WWE history, and the impact they made is still felt in WWE today. All three members became WWE world champions and are still dominating the wrestling business. The Shield, one of WWE's most impactful factions, debuted at Survivor Series 2012 and quickly established themselves as a dominant force. The group comprised three dynamic wrestlers: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Together, The Shield operated with military precision, often entering the arena through the crowd, symbolizing their connection to the WWE Universe and their role as enforcers of justice. Their signature move, the triple powerbomb, was a testament to their unity and strength, often used to dismantle opponents collectively.
The Shield's mission was to combat perceived injustices within WWE, targeting those they believed were corrupt or abusing their power. This mission led them to memorable feuds with top superstars and factions, including John Cena, The Undertaker, and The Authority.
The faction's initial run came to an abrupt end in June 2014 when Seth Rollins betrayed Ambrose and Reigns, aligning himself with Triple H and The Authority. This betrayal marked a significant turning point, propelling all three members into successful singles careers.

I like to think that Roman keeping the Shield theme is part of his character. His character struggles with moving on, so it made sense for him to keep the shield theme and attire for longer.
I miss them sometimes ngl,Shield's random 6 man tags on RAW and Smackdown used to be so good,every week they were putting on bangers they were my favorite thing in 2013

The day shield broke up was the episode I started rewatching WWE after few years of break. So I had no idea how heartbreaking or emotional this moment was

2014 gaves us the death of the shield, the death of super cena , and the death of the streak

I was a very fleeting fan of WWE around 2014,but two factions I remembered for all these years were Shield and Wyatt Family. For the teen me they were the coolest thing ever (besides The Undertaker).
Ten years passed,I got back into wrestling and turned out all three guys from The Shield are doing wonderfully,it was nice.
I am sad that Dean's run was hampered so much, even then I remember being a big fan of Dean,but considering his whole character it just wasn't meant to be. He was a descendant of Mick Foley,but there was no room for someone like Mick Foley in 2010s PG era. I still have little hope that Jon Moxley can return to WWE for couple of matches,when WWE goes on Netflix and they will have more opportunity.
One of the thing that stood out during this storyline was the amazing Battleground video package for the triple threat they had for the title

Every member of the Shield played an important role in modern wrestling. They all had ups and downs in their careers but remained strong and on top. In few years to come they will be solidified as one of the greatest trio to exist.

The fact that Roman’s character is still upset at Seth’s betrayal is a great part of his character, even with the tribal chief gimmick, he still get angry when it’s used against him.

This being on my birthday makes this harder to forget. One of the best moments of my childhood
8 year old me was so mad and hated Seth, and then like a year later he was my favorite again. Proud fan for the last 14 years.
The sheld was my life I looked up to them I loved them so much I just keep on wishing and hoping that they will come back they are still my favorite to this day

I quit watching wrestling for a year or two before they debuted, but I got back into it before they broke up. The Shield’s breakup is genuinely one of the greatest moments in WWE history. After the turn, Seth quickly rose to be one of my favorites of all time.
I was in my teens and broke my heart, the friendship these guys had and the bond and the chemistry and were the full complete package hated seth when he turned his back on his brothers
I started watching wrestling about a month after the Shield breakup and all I got to see was essentially the aftermath of that (where basically they tried to kill each other with cinder blocks 😅). I'm glad I was there to watch their careers really shine these past 10 years but a part of me wishes I started watching when they debuted

I was there… front row… with my father. The night after payback 2014 aired… and I was so hyped to see the shield. If I only I could warn the young me what was to come
The shields first heel run imo was iconic I loved there first race run as well but I remember at the time when the shield first came around I got a lot of crap about being a wrestling fan and admittedly became embarrassed about the fact but with the shield I was like “nah this shit is cool”

I was heartbroken when Seth turned on his brothers.. I didn’t think it was going to end so soon.. but once they broke up I really thought Dean was going to be the break out… Roman was always going to be the top guy and I had zero issues with that… I just didn’t think Rollins was going to be the one to be the main guy.. so it was just surprising to see how they booked Dean.. I was always pissed so in the end I was just as fed up and didn’t blame him for leaving.

Man, tbh with y'all, this betrayal traumatised me for more than a week,
I started watching WWE regularly when I was in my 8th Grade something and eventhough I had this ídea that Pro-Wrestling is scripted & all, I still couldn't cope up with this one and felt super real to me.
One of the reasons is that the betrayal happened just after The SHIELD defeated EVOLUTION two times consecutively, one at Extreme Rules, the other at Payback.
Btw, the SHIELD's All-Black Gear felt super cool to me back then
Also, it was a very Special Day for all the SHIELD Fans out there when All the Members of The SHIELD became WWE World Heavyweight Champions in a single night at Money in the Bank 2016
Lastly, when The Tribal Chief lost his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WRESTLEMANIA XL just to get his revenge on Seth Rollins, I realised it still haunts me.

The day wwe decided to breakup the shield having seth turn on dean and roman it was definitely heartbreakingi was like still in high school seeing that happen around that time
I think I was 10 at the time. I was so shocked couldn’t believe it. Maybe it was because I was a kid, but I was 100% caught off guard
I wish Dean was still around because during the bloodline storyline I think, this is just my idea. I would have loved it if out of all the people Roman ran through he always eviscerated and taken down, when it came to Dean he was the one sole exception that no matter what Roman could never betray or turn on him because Dean *never* Betrayed him Dean Always stayed Loyal and Tight with Roman even More so than the bloodline itself, he was Always roman's friend and equal and it would have been an interesting facet of the bloodline story where Seth Always got under Roman Skin and Dean was the 1 man Roman could Never betray ir brutally attack like all other's. Like everyone else tried to talk to him but it was only Dean that was always able to get through to Roman that could have made such an interesting story
Man, i grew up watchinh shield and roman reigns. In fact roman's and seth are the reason i watch wwe to this day. Even through reigna face push was overrated and forced, it still got me hyped as i liked his powerhouse big dog fighting character but now as a heel hes at his prime and really has improved

It was heartbreaking but it defined an era.
This Shield story hasn't ended yet. It needs to end in a one on one WM match with Rollins vs Reigns, with months long build up, no titles on the line, just pure storytelling. Shouldn't be a face vs heel, it should just be a brother vs brother rivalry with a lot of real life stuff mixed in between.
That's depends if they can do that match before 2027 then seth vs roman should happen but if they don't do it then shield triple threat match should happen in 2028 or 29 at mania with Ambrose back at WWE for last run and it would be their last WrestleMania match in WWE and possibly semi retiring match

I was happy when the Shield broke up. Because I felt they were annoying as a Faction. I was still kinda new to wrestling ( I didnt start watching WWE programming until 2008) when they debuted. And as an older adult just watching the product I felt their dominance was too long.
Granted I like them better than Nexus. But I just felt they were Nexus 2.5.
Idk if I’m the only person who feels this way or not, but I could care less if Moxley returned to WWE at this point. I’m over the shield now. They’re all main eventers they don’t need to be a group at this point
Their last breakup wasn't all that heartbreaking in my opinion, people still bring it up as one of the saddest moments, and I just don't get why
We knew well before they get back together that they were gonna reunite, and that Dean would eventually be the one that turns on them, and I know that Roman's announcement wasn't planned, and the fact that Dean turned on them the same night was "shocking", it still wasn't enough for me, as we already knew that was gonna happen, the internet ruined wrestling for me and it's hard to escape the reports of what will happen
Also, on the subject of teams breaking up, in WWE every faction or tag team eventually breaks up, while I'm not a huge New Day fan, why are people begging for them to break up? I want them to go against the grain and never actually break up, they can ditch the silly gimmick and go on single runs, I'm all for that, but I wish they'd do it without actually breaking up
