- WWE Universal championship was introduced with the 2016 WWE brand split. The Universal title had a very unlucky history and eventually got merged with the WWE title by Roman Reigns.. technically it's still active but I doubt it will ever get split from the Undisputed WWE Championship

I always found KO's universal title reign to be the most underrated one, I still don't get the decision of making him lose aganist Goldberg.

I mean its arguably the second most prestigious title only after the Uk title, a belt made for the best wrestler of all time and the new face of the company but there was an oppose in one of the best matches of all time in the main event of summer slam during a good year basically a good summer fun themed WrestleMania then only good champs then held by spectacle cartoon final boss guys until absorbed into the undisputed wwe title during the best storyline ever it never had a forgettable moment that people weren't throwing money to see, and the person that made it prestigious was ko making a title one of the most prestigious title ever is goated.

Glad you took it easy last month, you seem more pumped to make videos now. No matter how hard it gets you matter to a lot of people, you’re the only reason I was able to stay into wrestling for that horrible stretch of 2018-2022. They really didn't need to have this go on for 1 year. Like, he turned up at Summerslam 22, then they hsd the match at...I don't even know what, it was mid, then the WM Match, boring, and the Summerslam Match was cool. One Match would've been enough though.

I wonder who is the fool that came up with the idea of retiring the World Heavyweight Championship and then years later introducing the Universal Championship, an ugly alternate skin of the WWE Championship. They could've prolonged the legacy of that title and just updated the design. Good riddance to that thing.
That idea has Vinnie Mac written all over it. Only he could think that it was a brilliant stroke of genius to do away with a beautiful and iconic title like the WHC, a belt that has such a prestigious history behind it. Then replace it with a shitty colour swap of the WWE title, and giving it the shittiest name possible.
Glad we got an undisputed title but looked like another fucking skin of the wwe title. The new WHC Is amazing looking but only on Seth Rollins

12:21 Again, the reason why they kept that "Universal" name was because Roman had been holding it for a longer time than the WWE one. They obviously couldn't end the WWE Championship lineage and they couldn't end the Universal Championship lineage because that's the World Championship Roman was setting records with. Now from here whole main event scenario in wwe would drastically changes.
- Brock vs roman won't happen at SummerSlam
- roman won't be holding both titles
- Cody rhodes already finished the story so there is no finishing the story arc for him.
- Cody vs roman won't happen because Cody would already be WWE champion and he has no purpose to go after universal title.
- drew McIntyre beating roman for universal title at clash at the castle increases
- new opponent would dethrone roman
- roman vs rock surely happen at WrestleMania 40 without any backlash.
- Cody vs roman eventually happen after that.
- world heavyweight title won't exist since there is no need to retire universal title if it is not unified.
- bloodline storyline will be way different since there would be no need to add rock and rock won't turn heel at all
- in simple words lot of things would be changed with that day 1 match if Lesnar won that match.
Also note rumble 22 won't change anything since it just replace Lesnar with roman

Cody was mystery opponent to seth, seth was supposed to win WWE championship at day 1 if Brock Lesnar wasn't added and since Brock would've beated roman at day 1 and we anyway get roman vs Brock at 38 for universal by roman winning the rumble or just say if roman retain in day 1 we get same result of Brock winning rumble but he won't be having WWE championship match that rumble since he won't be in fatal 4 way match to win it.
Since seth was supposed to win WWE championship and Cody return at mania 38 and he face none other seth at WrestleMania and beat him then we have Cody being treated as no.1 face with motives to WWE championship tells that Cody vs seth was happening irrespective of the facts.
If Brock never won WWE title we would've Cody vs seth for WWE title with Cody winning it.
Roman vs Cody would've never existed since it would've no reason to exist but roman vs Cody would happen not in 2023 but in 2024 assuming Cody will be WWE champion for 1 year atleast means he won't winning 2023 rumble and will lose title at some point and wins 2024 rumble to face roman reigns for WrestleMania or maybe he choose WWE champion and we get rock vs roman instead without any Cody moment

Daniel Bryan vs The Fiend was a memorable rivalry to me. Bray stabbing himself in the hand to sign the contract and then the strap match were really entertaining.

The only logical thing i can think of why vince put the championship on Lesnar & Goldberg so much back then is bc he wanted creditable superstars to have held the championship to make it feel legit. But he booked it so wrong that no one was interested or cared. Especially when Lesnar retained at WM34 & won it back at Crown Jewel 2018. Or when Goldberg squashed KO & The Fiend just as their rise in WWE was coming.

I think the title should still be called WWE Universal championship, just not Undisputed because there is a WWE World Heavyweight championship. The WWE Universal championship has the lineage of the Universal championship (from Balor to Reigns, the WWE championship (from Buddy Rogers to Broxk Lesnar), the Ruthless Aggression Era and PG Era World Heavyweight championship (from.Triple H to John Cena), the WCW title (from Ric Flair to The Rock) and the classic NWA title (from Orville Brown to Ric Flair). because of all the different mergers. That's the prestigious one.

I think Jericho's title reign would've kinda saved the picture, 2016-2017 was his 2nd Prime and had THAT Jericho held the championship, the title itself would have gained more.

Whenever people complain about WWE today, i always point to that 2017-2019 era which was SO much worse, i thought the company was gonna go under within ten years with the trajectory they were going 😂
People seem to forget that the universal title lineage is still active and it wouldn't surprise me if Roman Reigns came back and told Cody straight up to his face that yeah he beat him at WrestleMania to become Champion but he never became Undisputed champion because he never took the universal title and when he beat Roman Reigns he only became WWE champion therefore Roman Reigns Universal title run is still ongoing which would explain why cody isn't even acknowledged as a two-time champion since the so-called Undisputed title is a combination of both the universal championship and the original WWE Championship
I felt like the first half of Roman’s historic reign and KO’s were the best of the championships history. Every other title just had baggage to it like a crappy champion, shit booking during or just a bad ending.
There’s also the long list of people who didn’t become Universal champions because of the Goldberg Brock stuff. Samoa Joe should have won that title, Braun Strowman’s reign came way too late when his heat was so down he should have had a short but impactful reign early on. Jericho as should have become Universal champ instead of Goldberg, Finn should have been able to come back and win the title he never lost. It had a lot of potential but it failed because putting it on people who weren’t around to defend the title or just squashed people and bad booking for every champion inbetween those. I have hope for the new WHC with the way they treated Rollins half way through his run and how they are lining up Drew and Gunther as the next champions

Its cool that Roman Made this Secondary Championship into the Main Prize where it needed a Secondary Championship for others.

I completely misinterpreted the thumbnail and the cut-off name of the video's title as the death of Roman Reigns.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I could swear that Roman carried both versions of the Universal Title around for a time. I distinctly remember that after he'd won the WWE title, he looked at both versions of the Universal Title and proceeded to discard the Red one.

The biggest problem with Roman's run was his lack of appearances. Otherwise the matches got boring cause it eas always the same last like 3 minutes.
But people give him hate for things he doesn't deserve, he was good on the mic as a heel. His moves weren't flashy but he reminded me of Jake the snake that he didn't do much but made it count.
