Don't know what I love the most about this, Midge creepily whispering 'The beat cannot be landed', Elton's fury, or Freddie's relentless flirting with Bono. Freddie replying 'of course' to Bono saying he doesn't want to make the day all about him in such a way that shows he thinks Bono's a tosser whilst also wanting to get in his pants is a real highlight.
I couldn't agree more!!! I stumbled across this little gem about a year ago and I've watched it at least 20 plus times. Live Aid was a bit before my time and I had never heard of Status Quo. Obviously the skit is an exaggeration of themselves, but I hope the Quo are like that in real life. When asked if they took the helicopter... "Oh ya, looking down everybody looked like little ants." "Uhh Rick we took a cab." So damn funny!!!
A MASTERPIECE! How each & every actor hit the mark while resembling the actual artist is a monumental accomplishment! SPOT ON, EVERYONE! Storytelling in such a short order at its best! Just absolutely MAGNIFICENT!
Midge Ure tells the story that Freddie Mercury called him over backstage and said he loved his song "I don't like Mondays", having confused him with Geldof...He did not correct him
actually, freddie went to midge and said.... "oh, you must be that nice lad from the boomtown rats" and midge, "no, i'm the lad from ultravox". he should've lied and said... "yes i am freddie! wanna hold hands and skip!" it would've been a great "fuck you" to geldolf.
"I don't want to hear another word about sound, or slots or bloody begonias... I need 5 million quid to get through to people who are fcking dying" Think this was my favourite episode -thank you so much for uploading it!

I'd never heard of this, so it was a complete surprise to me! And what a surprise! I enjoyed every moment, and I loved the actors doing their "star" roles. Thank you for uploading. :)
Something tells me only those of us who were around back then for the real thing, will get the references & understand the brilliance. I stayed up for the whole (what turned out to be) 25 hour long telecast in NYC. It pained me to take bathroom breaks.
Yeah totally! I mean, a man that started something and fought for it with such passion, strength and convection, that saved 1000s of lives, and from it all changing how the world looks at charity... has changed for the better the lives of millions! ...what a complete b'stard! ...no not Sir Bob!
You are indoctrinated by Geldof lies. The true history behind LiveAid will soon be exposed. I carry a piece of unknown history about the darker shadow that possesses Geldof’s soul. I pray he finds some real humanity, but his real motivations will soon be revealed and he is far from Saintly, he is a self possessed egotist, who cares only for the sake of fame, power, and celebrity!
This was eleven kinds of amazing. The world is better for his existing, the best kind of humor, not a mean bone in it’s cutting tone. Amazing. Really, thanks for doing this, and I wish you guys nothing but success. I’ll be sharing this like a geek.
For what it's worth it was originally planned to have The Style Council open the Wembley concert until a week or so before the show Geldof remembered Status Quo had recorded a version of Rocking All Over the World. The rest writes itself.
This is fantastic comedy. Anyone who watched this at the time or via videos can surely relate. Brilliant acting. How good were Queen and Freddie on the day?
Freddie harassing Bono was kind of a true fact.😂 He pinned him down on the wall and try to chat him up.... is it Bon O or Bo No? 👍😂and, he passed on his regards to The Hedge 🤣❤❤❤🤣🥰 brilliant Freddie 🥰
I know that Quo liked to erm, let's say, 'party', but Rick Parfitt in this... 🤣Francis Rossi is practically his support worker even though he would have been off his face the whole time too. Midge Ure's, "Fucking Quo" at the end is just brilliant.
Roger Taylor got cut out of frame in this just the same as he was cut out of frame from the Live Aid performance... during Live Aid the cameras just focused on Freddie. Brian and John appear occasionally, mostly because Freddie was standing next to them, but the only shot of Roger's face is literally over Freddie's shoulder for, like, 2 seconds as the camera zooms in on Freddie playing guitar, other than that we got a couple shots of the back of his head as the camera was trying to capture the massive audience. Poor Roger. I'm become a huge Roger Taylor fan, but for this spoof I agree with the decision to edit him out of frame... it's the most subtle spoof I have ever (not)seen.

@@TheHitman5c but Geldof himself has said for the last 30 something years had Midge not agreed to do this with him that day Live Aid or Band-Aid even would never have happened

This is all exaggerations based off some of the stories, eltons begonias happened but he was yelling at them as they were lifting up with the helicopter from his yard, The "give me your money" happened after queen was doing radio gaga, gandalf was on the scaffolding on his way to the BBC booth when he stopped to observe everyone clapping, after that he got on air.
same here as i saw tony visconti's name as a consultant which made it more special as i remember bowie telling that story about how he met marc bolan. "your shoes are crap" "well you're short".
