Those penalties were probably the best ones I ever seen. The power and accuracy is top class.
Treszeguet hit his well he just raised his foot and the ball rose to what is basically empty net.
Everyone else except for a few people have been doing the worst penalties ever
i was 9 years old and was watching this match alone....and it was in the midnight back when we used to sleep by 10 pm... I literally slept by the 1st half and woke up when the chaos of zidane headbutting mertarazzi was going on...... This was the first time I saw a wc final perhaps the best since 2006

I still remember when Italy won the world cup. My oldest daughter was just born and we sat and watched the entire game together. Was one of the greatest days of my lifetime.
the best italian squad ever.. how can you underestimate a team that at that time had buffon, nesta, cannavaro, zambrotta, gattuso, pirlo, totti, del piero, inzaghi and others.. even great was every position starting from defender, defender wingers, midfielders, to strikers all contributed goals throughout the tournament. i miss this team..

France from 98-2000 was the strongest in recent history they only Conceided one Goal VS Croatia 🇭🇷 Italy 2nd they were aging and replaced some players France was also aging by 2006 both teams were at their primes plus afew relatively young players. That's 3 major finals for Zidane and co in 6 years not bad and 2nd final for Italy in 6 years.
This world cup was the best of the best because you had a penalty given the nicked the cross bar, a header, a red card and a really intense penalty shootout
With all respect to past World Cups, I think that this final game is the most iconic in the history of football. Even this tournament is in top 3 of all time, but this game surely is.

With VAR French penalty would not likely been awarded since there was zero contact with Materazzi, although I can understand why the refery was genuinely fooled because of the speed the guys were running and they were only millimeters away from each other.
Second goal from Italy may have stood with VAR too. Toni who made the header was not on off side, only Jaquinta was on offside.
This game should have ended 2-0 for Italy after 90 minutes.
Once Buffon made that save on Zizou’s header you already knew who would win this great final.
