I bought it when I was 13 and was stunned. It hasn't aged a bit and the reason is: MiJ defined what a live album should be, because these five guys had a common principle on stage: every single note must entertain the audience. And they had worked on it for three years without rest.

Lans Ullrich's all-time favorite album. As for me, I was 15 years old when it came out. My allowance was $0.25 a week. The double album cost $5. Rode my bike to downtown Vancouver. A & B Sound. This was the only album I bought until I was in my 20s. Also at this time I was in a garage band. Our lead guitarist (the most talented) was a Jimmy Page fan. Bassist was a Black Sabbath fan. I was on vocals, loved Deep Purple. We went absolutely nowhere, but that was ok too. As to DP:MiJ, on relistening to it several times recently, the vocals stand out. That dude had lungs of steel. Anyway, 9 songs across 4 records sides = nice long tracks. Love 'em all.

They had 3 concerts, first went bad and Blackmore did not even got the riff to Smoke On...right!!- his nerves. The concerts started 6 o´clock in the afternoon so Gillan greeted them with a : Good Morning- another funny remark was : I have good news for you- next week we will turn professional. British humour- very funny.
