I can tell you that Robert Plant is the same, I went to his mansion in the 80s with my boyfriend who was a singer and with a producer. I knew Plant was connected to the occult and I really didn't want to go. I actually got trapped in a toilet at a pub before going to his house. At the mansion I remember going in , being given red wine and nothing much else until we were Going home. My boyfriend said I was tired and fell asleep. But I know something else was going on , never trust them

I am a huge fan of Ritchie Blackmore, especially with Rainbow and Blackmore's Night. I like Deep Purple, but am a huge fan of his other work. And I am also into the occult. It is a part of me to explore the other realms and go be beyond religious boundaries. I actually once had a pet ferret named after him, although I wrote it Ritchy. Still, It is one of my favorite boys names.
By the way: occult means hidden, not evil. That last one is a choice we make. To me, there is no black or white magick, only intent.

So sad that Jesus died a cruel death to fight tyranny, and now his word is abused to spread it. I think he was more likely talking about the Roman emperor than about mankind. Jesus was a historical figure. I adore his fight for freedom and his tales to make people stand up for themselves. I just hate how Christianity turned it into a tool of mind control. I find it so frustrating that when people are asked to name the great guitar players, Ritchie Blackmoor is hardly mentioned. If you ask me, if I felt there was a guitar player that could give a guy like Eddie Van Halen a run for his money, it would definitely be Ritchie Blackmoor. He's so great because Ritchie actually employed unusual guitar scales; some of Middle Eastern origin/influences. The only other guitar player that would do that would have been Randy Rhodes.

"Johnny remember me" used to be Siouxsie's favourite tune, because it was about a lady speaking to her lover... from her grave. Of course, this was also a Joe Meek's famous tune. None of these guitar heroes mentioned in the comments here, could parallel Joe Meek,in terms of true innovation and demonic influence in music. He also produced Heinz,a favourite of mine. Meek insisted they were lovers , something that the wife of Heinz dismissed completely, stating that it was jealousy on the side of Meek. Joe Meek was truly a one-off,but unfortunately,he was a psycho too, thus the tragic and horrible ending to his (and his landlady's) life. But this period in English pop music, just before the Beatles and the whole British invasion thing,is in my opinion really amazing and original. And there's this movie too, I think it's called Telstar, which describes Meek's life. A really good movie. Another notable protégé of Meek, was the drummer Clem Cattini.

Ritchie Blackmoor was far better than many people realize. He's overshadowed by greats such as Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, and others. If you ask me, I'd say Ritchie Blackmoor was a far better guitar player than Eddie Van Halen. A lot of the reason being, Ritchie employed many non Western Civilization scales into his music. I like playing chromatic harmonica, and I have an app for my android that lets me employ European scales along with the standard scales in all keys. I'd love improvising Russian musical scales in different keys in both my C Major as well as Bb tuned harmonicas. I am a total Jazz music lover so employing a Russian music scale on my Bb harmonica for some improvised Jazz music would sound very different but also surprising.

Their fascination with what is seen and what it hidden. Their talk of making dreams coming true as if its a supernatural transaction that ended with them being given an amazing an unlikely success. The adoration and respect that they receive is much higher than what their talent/skill/contribution suggests. The subtle changes in their eyes. Do not betray the evidence that is always revealed by their eyes. You can censor what the eye collects but not that which the eye discards. Remember that. I don't know why they would lie about that. But maybe they are, I wasn't there. Maybe you know better. In fact, that's why Tony Carey jumped out of a 2nd story window and quit 🌈. If you know anything, the song "LA connection" was written about Tony going back to LA. He said it was insane things going on there. He had pranks pulled on him, and he also had many sightings of a 😈. I guess Cozy Ritchie, Ronnie Daisley, and Carey were all lying. Blackmore had a "Paganini 6:24 complex". And Yes . He played some bits of classically inspired solos , but I think he lived the image of Paganini, or thought he was., who also wore black when he performed. And if any guitarist fits the Paganini legend , and who translated that to the electric guitar, it was undoubtedly Yngwie Malmsteen. Who truly blew everyone's mind when he came on the scene especially with his solo debut album.
And even though you did not mention Paganini, Blackmore was inspired by him and honed the whole mysterious persona .

I've read "Hellhounds on their Trail", and several other works on musicians in relation to the occult.
    It's a correlation/causation issue.
Musicians are miny edge-lords from the start; especially rock, metal, etc. They scour old horror novels and grimoires for lyrics (Metallica's early career was built on Lovecraft novels, ESPECIALLY "Ride the Lightning". They practice in places known to be huanted (Duane Allman at a Georgia cemetery). They purposefully put cryptic, creepy symbols onto their artwork (Led Zeppelin "Zoso", Megadeth "Cryptic Writings", and the famous cover of The Eagles "Hotel California)...
Are you starting to see a pattern?
Throw in drugs, booze, women, new cars, and a reckless lifestyle, and of course these deaths look like some kind of "supernatural comeuppance".
It's just rich guys with low inhibition engaging in dangerous activities and substance abuse.
There's no demons, no summoning, no "deal at the crossroads".
As a professional recording musician (by age 16) I can tell you that IT'S ALL AN ACT. Look at Ozzy, his whole family has become part of his act, lol.
Blackmore and Page are both extremely talented and prodigious guitarists, and they're both edge-lords whom like people to think they're invovled in occult practices, because it keeps them relevant outside of creating new music.
There's nothing supernatural about shooting up, then plowing your Maserati into a culvert.
I highly suggest the aforementioned book if you're interested in music and it's relationship to the occult. The big takeaway, is most of the musicians were introduced to occult ideas by professional groupies, like Anita Pallenberg, via "sex magic". The same BS L. Ron Hubbard used to rope people into his psuedo-religious sex cult.

      > "There's no demons, no summoning, no "deal at the crossroads".
Work with me for just one moment. Imagine that the bible is actually God's words imparted through man and that God's primary concern is our eternal life for our souls and that we would have purpose, strength, comfort and peace in this world.
Would He have warned us - many times - in the bible against these occult practices if there was really nothing to it? Or, is it more like a loving parent telling their child over and over again to look both ways before they cross the street?
Here's the deal... everyone, whether they want to admit it or not, is looking for answers but most don't want the hard truth in God's Word. It's called pride.

@@davekpghpa My grandfather was an evangelical pastor. He was one of the first white men allowed to preach the Word in Ghana; one particular tribe loved him so much, they made him a literal king.
My dad is a deacon/usher/audio-visual consultant at his church, Calvary Chapel.
Here's what I got out of the good book: "Gnashing of teeth, the peeling of flesh, devoured by a worm that never dies". I remember being 7, huddled in the floorboard of my dad's truck, because the moon was red, which was, "A sign of Armageddon" and "The end is VERY NEAR".
I never felt the "Love of Christ" people seem to keep crowing about; just fear.
So, I've spent my life studying weapons, hand-to-hand combat, grappling/wrestling, swordsmanship, marksmanship, knife-combat, spearmanship, and the history of warfare & strategy. I like being responsible for my own well-being, and my family's.
Is there something to the occult? Maybe there is. But, it's not more powerful than a sharp bar of steel ripping through all 16 arteries in the human neck. Muscle, Steel, & Fire are what I believe in.
As to the musicians, "dabbling" or not, they have an extremely long history of, to sum it all up, "misbehaving".
