  • A wideband O2 sensor is a must have for your performance car! It allows you to know the air fuel ratio which gives you an idea of how the engine is running.
    In this video I will be showing you how to do a basic install of the AEM X-Series 30-0300. We will go over why we need a wideband O2, gauge placement on the dash, fishing wires, routing wires, welding bung, and basic wiring. Stay tuned for my megasquirt videos where we will learn how to use the analog 5V input for auto tune and O2 feedback (closed loop).

    Thumbs up for being smart enough to not heat the sensor up before starting the engine ! That's how most guys damage their WB sensors, then complain when they go bad.

      It can be more complex if you want to data log or have it ran through a stand alone or oem computer

      Yes, I would recommend to do the calibration at least once a year. Personally I replace the sensor itself every year or 2 just for piece of mind.

    I was reading the manual and it indicates about installing the O2 sensor at no less than 10 degrees angle to allow condensation to evacuate the sensor. It seems as though you installed yours at around 0 degrees or completely sideways

    • @2stepmediaofficial
      @2stepmediaofficial 2 года назад

      they indicate this for BEST reading but aslong as its in the general area it can be sideways but you loose some accuracy

    have been wanting to put these AEM gauges in my car for ever. Lately I have been worried about the many negative reviews I found about the afr gauge. People stating that AEM uses faulty Bosch sensors and that about half of the sold gauges and sensors don't work to begin with, or fail within weeks/months. Since you already fitted them 4 years ago, can you say something intelligent about the quality and life span?

    • @angrymechanic5529
      @angrymechanic5529  Год назад +1

      In a nutshell, the harness connectors are of poor quality you have to be careful while installing. The Bosch sensor works fine for several years as long as it's installed in the pipe correctly, ideally in the 12 o clock position so water doesn't build up on it. The lsu 4.9 sensors are more delicate than the 4.2 I notice. If you are using alcohol fuels or just want something more reliable in general the ntk brand sensors are much more durable. I would recommend the haltech ntk controller if you're going that route.

    My car is running on an old school Microtech ECU. It only runs a closed (or open?) Loop.
    So basically I can't input the o2 sensor to the ecu.
    Can I just use the sensor to display my afrs on the gauge? Without connecting it to an ECU.
    Cheers

    • @angrymechanic5529
      @angrymechanic5529  4 года назад +2

      Yes, just hook up power and ground. The way it was setup on my vehicle it wasn't hooked up to the ECU either until I went MS3.
