  • I decided to add this AEM 30-0334 wideband O2 sensor to the Corvette so that I could street tune my own car. The install was super simple, and it works great! Plug-and-play compatibility with HP Tuners!

So the ignition switched power is to power the gauge? I just datalog and don't really care about a gauge. Wonder if you can just plug it into the OBD2 and go without any wiring?

Correct. I ended up changing it after I made this video to tap into my cigarette lighter wiring so that it’s inside the cabin. The gauge is actually what everything connects to, so you do need the gauge with this particular wideband. That said, you don’t have to mount it anywhere visible if you’re just using it for logging. Another popular mounting location is inside the cubby behind the screen

I already have the p3 v3 gauge in my C7. I’m considering the 30-0334 but wiring the output to the p3. What do you think of doing it that way? Nice vette BTW

Interesting idea. I have not seen someone do that, so I don't know how difficult it is to get that to work. But that would be a really clean solution! If you can figure it out, post a thread on the corvette forum. I think a lot of people (myself included) would like to see a tutorial on how to do that. The problem you'll run into is that the gauge itself is also the unit sort of. So, you'd still have to hide that gauge somewhere.

@@RobsHouse I’m thinking of putting the gauge behind the screen but I don’t want to loose any space in there. From what I see that gauge is really shallow, so it might not loose too much space if I make a custom bracket/plate. If not, I might just hide completely by the obd2 port if there is no need to interact with the gauge. I’ll post it up on CF when I get it all ironed out. I’m RandomDan on there.

I dont get the wideband thing. Doesn't HP Tuner get AFR from the ECU pid?
I got an ODBlink MX+ reader and use the ODBlink app to create iphone custom gauges to monitor pids. I have an MVPi3 coming this month (sept 2022) with Prolink. Do I still need an external wide band?

You can get AFR error from the closed loop system which reads off the primary narrow band O2 sensors in the car. However, when you enter open loop mode (typically when power enrichment enables), it shuts the closed loop system off and you get no feedback at all. The reason for this is that if an O2 sensor fails and the ECM is still in closed loop at wide open throttle, you could go really lean or really rich during a pull, which would be bad.
So, I use the Wideband to tune my top end fueling. The closed loop shuts off and at that point, I know my Wideband reading is accurate because the ECM is no longer-self correcting under those conditions. When the closed loop system is active (idle, partial throttle, etc), the Wideband serves no purpose.

Yes but only if you have a pro version hptuners or setup a serial port or use the egr/ac pressure switch. This new gauge makes it super simple now.
