first one isn't Haynes closing, it's the bankruptcy of another company that gave them more furniture. second is Frawg i think and the second to last one doesn't seem like it was exclusively made for the analog closure edit: fortunoff was the company that was bankrupt.
0:00 DUE TO THE BANKRUPTCY OF HAYNES Hey dude, no-one should ever tell the public why you're closing down in your ads. That makes people nostalgic and cry in a corner.
Sorry for telling to you so late (like 3 years, but since no one replied to this 'til now...) but it wasn't Haynes bankruptcy, it was Fortunoff's, a larger New York chain I've seen ads for when they were in business... What they've meant is that they bought inventory that used to be from Fortunoff's (I suppose their price ranges were quite a bit higher than Haynes regular stuff) to offer within the normal Haynes price range.
I just love it when companies start their DTV switchover with an advertisement telling people why they're going bankrupt that has absolutely nothing to do with the analog > DTV switchover.
GalaxyJazzGirl - Actually it was JUNE 12th with nightlight until June 26th (WNBC video). It was originally supposed to be on February 17th (some stations for various reasons did sign off analog in that earlier date). Maybe the DC / Baltimore TV market didn't had many stations (maybe NBC's WRC..) that cared to "go above and beyond " here...
They said that they were going to keep some of the analog channels to inform viewers how to get digital TV for a few weeks. A few weeks is NOT enough because many are still and will not ready for the transition that soon and need as much help as they need/can. They need to keep 1 or 2 analog channels for at least 1 year to make sure all viewers are getting ready to get digital TV. If not 1 year, at least 3-6 months or 2 months the least!!!!!!!!
(Dangit...) I really wanted to see one of the local stations in Central New Jersey cease their analog signal live but I couldn't for 2 reasons: First of all, because of the date: June 12 was a Friday that year and that meant school for me(I was in 3rd grade then.) Second of all, I subscribe to Comcast and my NTSC set wasn't affected in the slightest.
Hmmm... Were there ANY broadcast stations in Central New Jersey in '09? AFAIK, there was a time when NO broadcast station had a NJ address, which is why the FCC once gave an incentive to stations to move to NJ when renewing licences (probably it was a substantially lower fee and almost automatic approval). AFAIK (there maybe more) only two stations took the bait: WWOR (MyN - 9.1) to Secaucus and WNJU (Telemundo - 47.1) to Newark (later on both stations' studios may have moved back to NYC by Fox and Comcast, respectively, for financial reasons, although I'm not totally sure...). Somewhere along the line WNET (PBS - 13.1) moved back from Newark to NYC... You'd probably have to check out the outros for the Philadelphia stations, since that's where most broadcast stations that covered Central NJ were at...
Before that i was watching in chesapeake minimighty kids and it interrupted by nightlight, who broadcasts kids programming at midnight? P.S. i lived in Chesapeake before moving to Norfolk
@blackjack2boy and to make it worse it also broadcasts into the parts of Mexico as well. usually they do Spanish is due to the Spanish speaking regions of those surrounding areas. unfortunately.

Portsmouth is NOT a suburb of Hampton. Portsmouth in the Southside and 15 minutes away from Hampton, which is in the Peninsula. It's also the smallest city in size in the South Hampton Roads area, but not by population. Suffolk, which is the largest in area, has the smallest city population (84.000+ compared to Portsmouth's 95,000+). Southampton County has the smallest in Eastern VA with 18,000+ residents.

They made the transition SO well. Like, they didn't go black to to static for a second.
+MonitaLeaf12 That's because WGNT back in 2009, was owned by CBS, and CBS participated in the SAFER act, which is why they kept their signal on.
