A fact about Nevilles mom and the sweet wrapper. JK based it on a man she knew who had a mother in the hospital with altziemers. He would visit her every week with her favourite sweets. Her condition was so severe that she didn't know he was her son anymore, she just knew him as "the nice man that brings me sweets".
Neville did way more than being a clumsy boy 1: Besides Harry he pulled the sword out of the hat 2: Neville killed the last horcrux 3: the only person to Become a teacher in the gang of friends 4: In the prophecy Edit: Thanks You for the likes
He's the only known wizard in Harry's generation to stand up to lord Voldemort except for Harry himself.... Harry was on horcrux hunt in majority of final book, and Dumbledore's Army would've been disbanded if not for Neville. He got one of the highest kill counts in saga as he killed a bunch of Voldemort's minions by burning the bridge. Interestingly, it means He led an army against Voldemort's while Voldemort himself attacked Harry individually. Plus he went directly after Voldemort himself after Harry's "Death". This basically means, He did fulfil the condition of the "second chosen one" as per the prophecy. In the book, he's much more badass because he slashes Nagini while he's on fire (literally) IN FRONT OF Voldemort and his army, who are unable to stop him. That's fucking badass!!
However, you're wrong on pulling of sword. Although, Harry did pull off the sword in COS, He failed to do so in DH1. It was Ron who pulled it then off lake, interestingly he was brave for choosing to return to Hermione after abandoning her. He'd probably be in trouble if Hermione had her wand, even then she was terrifying. Even Harry was scared of her at the moment.
Technically he was raised by his aunt, who had raised his Father who is a successful auror, must of had experience, not to mention how powerful she is, plus, like his grandmother said on many an occasion, he is his father's son, so its possible that he could have his father's knack for magic, lets not overlook the fact that he could have been the chosen one, which isnt oridnary .-.
It was because he had a great support system. He was a loner but the trio and Ginny always gave him so much support unconditionally , that he grew so much.
I haven't cried in years, even for some tough shit that happened to me in the past few years, but damn i teared up on that part. By far the saddest story in Harry Potter.
I started crying. Neville had a very hard time, his parents getting tortured to insanity, not having many friends and even getting bullied by Professor Snape. But yet he stood up more for his friends than for himself. Neville is a true hero. He really is one of my favorite characters. 🥰
1) Neville Longbottom and the Remembral 2) Neville Longbottom and the year he was safe due to pure blood 3) Neville Longbottom and the lost passwords 4)Neville Longbottom and the tortured spider 5) Neville Longbottom and the department of mysteries 6) Neville Longbottom and the year he missed the DA 7) Neville Longbottom and the year he became a Gryffindammmmmm son!
Neville definetly had it the worst out of all the characters. His parents were tortured to insanity and can’t even recognize their own son when he visited them in the hospital. He was raised by his Grandmother who had no faith in him and lowered his self esteem day after day. Unlike Harry, who is experienced similar situations, Neville was bullied by not just students, but also by Professor Snape. Harry received plenty of love from the Weasleys, Professors, etc. Neville was deserted and had no friends or family to support him early on. It wasn’t until the DA when we see the wizard he truly becomes. Neville overcomes the worst struggles of all, which is why he is one of my fav. characters!
I'd strongly disagree with you. I don't think Neville had it worse than Severus Snape. Almost everyone fell into tears after they see the flashback in the pensive in deathly hallows. Snape always loved and was affectionate towards Lily Evans. Neville didn't get too close with his mother but Snape loved Lily more than anyone else but it was a tragedy they couldn't be together. Snape too had low self esteem and was raised by very disappointing and fighting parents. I feel sorry for Neville but I feel most sorry for Snape. (Also Snape wasn't having good company and Neville had in DA in his fifth year).
@Arr Ere and Neville's contributions to Harry and his friends were seen and appreciated. Snape was always misunderstood and he was only respected after his death.
When I read the part where Neville pulled the sword out of the hat I remembered Dumbledore saying to Harry “only a true gryffindor could pull the sword out of the hat” I started cheering for Neville and my fam thought I was going insane
My parents did too. Then I had to equate it to the moment captain America caught Thor’s hammer in avengers endgame and they were like “Ohhhhhh! Got it” 😪😂
ABC D Minus no that’s not why dumbledore gave him the points, dumbledore knows how it is to stand up to your friends, that’s why his sister died. - theory not confirmed
But were Harry Ron and Hermione friends with Neville yet, I guess Ron and Harry could maybe count but I don’t think he was friends with Hermione until later. Plus, there is a vast difference between fighting the 2nd greatest dark wizard of all time and trying to fight 3 first year students.
I cried.. I don't know why.. But I can't stop crying. Neville was always the one guy in the whole series I had a very soft corner for.. l didn't know he had such a hearthbreaking childhood. Your painful childhood can crush you but Neville proved everything and everyone wrong. He indeed was the BRAVEST among all..
I think Neville's character was extremely developed. You can see the contrast of his character in the first book and the last book. The way the series portrayed him was quite deep. When he started off being shy and seemingly- cowardly and underrated and then HE was also the one to have killed Nagini and make that inspirational speech in 'The Deathly Hallows' ( When everyone thought Harry was dead). His character development was just Amazing!
I Love Disney you could’ve read the first and last books with reading the ones in between and thought the Neville in them were completely different people!
Order of the phoenix is my favourite book. When he came along to the ministry of magic, I was like, this is the same clumsy round neville longbottom i used to know
Neville’s Gran was harsh and emotionally abusive, but I also understand she was hurt too. Her child suffered horribly. She wanted Neville to be strong so he would never suffer the same fate.
@@hiswayservicesblog9288It was nice in the books though that Neville mentioned his grandmother had said she was proud of him after how he’d conducted himself at hogwarts during the deathly hallows book. I think she was quite a stern woman who had expected Neville to be incredibly gifted from an early age because of who his parents were, but Neville never even got the chance to gain any kind of wisdom, love or recognition from his parents due to their condition. I think it makes a lot of sense that Neville had to grow into himself at Hogwarts and really form his own identity and go on his own journey. I think his grandmother did love him very much. She always read to me like one of those old people stuck in their ways and though they mean well, sometimes they can be a little shortsighted.
What about James, Sirius, and Lupin? Not counting Peter because you know. Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. I guess they wouldn't be your favorite but those are some more trios. The Golden Trio (Harry, Ron, Hermione) and the Silver Trio (Neville, Luna, Ginny) are the best.
if my mother almost lost her memory and gave me a gum rapper as a present, i would be a candy wrapper! i am just kidding i love my mother and i would treasure it (o-o) ////// / /
One of my favourite lines re Neville and I think one that played a massive part in shaping him is... McGonagall “It’s high time your grandmother learned to be proud of the grandson she’s got, rather than the one she thinks she ought to have. Particularly after what happened at the Ministry. Neville was the Un-official 4th member. Whilst the main 3 had to go on the run he stayed and kept the school fighting back. He got the a base to operate from and made sure everyone was ready before Harry even knew he had to be. After getting all this done he played a massive part in the main battle, was the first to stand up to Voldemort when people thought Harry had fallen and then he took out the most dangerous Horcrux Voldemort had enabling Harry to kill him. JK wrote some fantastic characters in the books but Neville was next level!
I hate how everyone blames Neville for sirius getting the passwords when really crookshanks stole them from a bedside table. He didn't leave it in a random place like everyone thought. He left where he would be able to find it
But McGonagall didn't know of Crookshanks' involvement. Nobody did until the end. And the punishments had already been made by the time a select few even found out.

I'm just super happy that JK gave Neville a lot of vital parts like overseeing the DA army but most importantly, taking out the sword from the hat and killing Nagini. It was such a great show of heroism to remember the character by. I'm glad he wasn't just among the sidelines like with the DA army fighting off nameless death eaters. He had the chance to shine and I really adore him.
JustFreddi Yes he did pull the sword out of the hat (though that could be because he was sorted into Gryffindor even though he fits more into Hufflepuff) But it’s more likely he’s a Hufflepuff because he probably did what he did at the end of the movies/books because he knew it was the right thing, and if he was brave all the time throughout the movies/books that would point more in the direction of him being in Gryffindor. But he wasn’t, he was scared of A LOT of things. Showing he fits better into Hufflepuff. (He could also be 50/50 in both houses like a lot of characters in Harry Potter but I think it’s more Hufflepuff than Gryffindor if anything) (Sorry this was so long and if any information was wrong)
The scene from Deathly Hallows Part 2 where Neville stands up to Voldemort in front of everyone towards the end is in my opinion the best, most tear-jerking scene of all the movies. Apart from the main three, Neville is easily my favorite character of the franchise
Yeah Neville is the always the one who first stands up even when his adversary/adversaries were much more powerful than him. I always liked Neville the unlikely hero and was pleasantly surprised to see him lead the DA before Harry returned to Hogwarts for the final battle. I love Luna too, she's unafraid to be different even when others see her as wierd;she clearly knows how others see her.
I feel that Neville kinda fulfilled two other parts of the Prophecy also: - by showing courage and bravery to stand up both TO his friends and FOR his friends throughout the series, he "Has power the Dark Lord knows not" because those are totally opposite of the bad guy's traits - Also this is kind of a stretch but in that book quote at 18:30 where Neville charges at Voldemort and Voldemort says "You're a brave boy of pureblood stock, you'd make a valuable Death Eater" this is kind of like "marking him as an equal" and even thought it is not literally that, it is very similar
Neville's mom handing out those candy wrappers to him were his only interactions he had with his mom 😢 felt very sad during that part of the video. Hats off to such a brave but gentle character 👌🏼❤
Story: when Neville visited his mom in the hospital, he told her about him being in the Battle of Hogwarts. His mom, who usually can't speak said one word "Proud"
The fact that it was Neville who killed the final Horcrux, eventually leading to the death of Voldemort, is so much breathtaking. No one imagines that this boy who was bullied would be a great hero
It has been told in the Trelawney's prophecy, "boy that born in the end of July that could defeat the Dark Lord" Isn't obvious that the boy which born in the end of July wasn't only Harry Potter, but Neville Longbottom too?
Sorting Hat: "You will be in griffinydor!" Neville: "But... Can you put me in hufflepuff!" Sorting Hat: "Na... Bruh? Your gonna in griffinydor! IS IT YOUR DESTINY!!"
Sorting hat: Your going to pull a sword out me the you will kill a snake not just any snake a horcrux Neville: What the heck is a horcrux and what there’s a sword it you and how am I going to get you in the first place Sorting Hat:GRYFFINDOR
All that backstory of Neville’s parents fates is so heartbreaking every time I heard it. Can you even imagine being tortured so severely that you can’t no longer remember those you love, no longer recognize their face, their voice, and their movement? Sirius was right. They did suffer a fate worse than death.
Neville fighting the death eater with Hermione's wand: "Exbelliarabus! Oh, uh, well take this! *Pokes death eater in the eye with wand* Death eater: "That's not how you use that!" Neville: "Well it worked, didn't it?"
You know what, Neville reminds me of Dumbledore's speech from The Goblet of Fire: "It matters not who someone is when they are born, but who they turn out to be. At first, Neville couldn't stand up for even himself, but turned into the hero who killed Nagini, the final horcrux
No.... not from what I remember. Neville killed Nagini after the horcrux in Harry was destroyed, and Nagini was made a horcrux in The Goblet of Fire, which was after Harry was made a horcrux
"It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done" Neville is as tough as they come, and loyal to the end. He pulled the sword from the hat and slayed the snake. Fucking legend
It was the same for harry as well but Voldemort attacked harry personally so harry was the boy who lived. Neville had the same life as harry but Neville could see them but that could make him sadder or happier... don't know which one.
@@sanahsalman5438 yeah the only difference is that while Harry was abused by the Dursleys, Neville almost got killed by his uncle on multiple occasions
Anyone else notice that his spell-casting improved dramatically after he got a new wand? Before Book 6, he was using his father's wand. Is it possible that this wand was incompatable with his magic - in the same way Hermione's wand doesn't work as well for Harry...?
Matthew Battles that's exactly the case. The wand chooses the wizard, not the other way around. So since he had his father's wand, it didn't work for him precisely because of that reason.
It's probably just that Augusta, like a lot of other witches and wizards, were ignorant about the finer dtetails of wandlore and that a secondhand wand might be incomptatable with that persons spellcasting?
Stephanie Kulikowski the puking slug curse was not due to a second hand wand but due to the fact that the second hand wand snapped when Ron and Harry crashed the Weasly's flying car into the whomping willow.
I am aware of that, I was just saying it should never be forgotten that it happened. Cause ya know, it was funny. His wand was still second hand, and he still struggled to produce charms and other things and the second hand wand is probably a huge reason for that.
Ok ok listen... Hermione:I'm going to bed before either of you get another brilliant Idea to get us killed, or worse...EXPELLED Molly weasley:You could have died, you could have been SEEN Sirius: A fate worse than death I would say... APPARENTLY DIEING ISNT THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN
Great comment- this is the point of the HP series. Voldemort’s biggest fear in life is death (something that he goes to the lengths of murder to achieve it), so to contrast it, the good characters show that there are worse things than death. Getting kissed by dementors, being tortured to insanity; all things that show death isn’t the worst fate, as everyone will feel it eventually. Neville’s story is a prime example- Harry wonders if he should have more sympathy than him for his parents fate.
I always loved how Neville’s 10 points winning the House Cup for Gryffindor at the end of Philosophers Stone was a subtle foreshadowing of his cutting off the snake’s head being the turning point in Deathly Hallows.
@@Spamwhichwizard Sorry to be the guy Americans apparently don't know the word Philosopher because in America (and only in America) it's called Sorcerer's Stone, while in the rest of the world it's called Philosopher's.
Neville’s actually one of my favourite characters, I feel he’s often overlooked by his peers and by fans. He has actually been through a lot of tragic events and there’s constant pressure on him from the expectations of other people.
Anyone else that the ending was always meant to be Neville killing Nagini, the last Horcrux? He, Harry, and Voldemort were the three people in that prophecy. While Harry was chosen by Voldemort, Neville killing Nagini in the end also had a significant meaning...the two boys destined to defeat Voldemort did it together.

Sometimes I feel like Neville doesn't get much attention from most fans over how he started off as a not-great wizard but ended turning into being a great character. And also feel bad for him as well for what he's gone through.
It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies. But a great deal more to stand up to your friends. That is likely my favorite line from the entire series. Well done Neville.
Voldemort: who would like to join me Neville: steps up Voldemort: i hoped for the better ...10 mins later... Neville: slices naginis head off Harry: finishes Voldemort off Now tell me who’s the better wizard
I did too, I always thought they would be the better couple. Of course, it wouldn't last long due to their different personalities (Neville wanting to settle down and Luna wanting to explore). Nevertheless, they're still better than Ginny and Harry in my opinion.
I never pieced it together that Neville got so close to one of the Death Eaters that took his parents away from him. I got shivers when he gave that whole speech. I think that Barty felt bad for what he did to Neville (even though not directly) and that's why he tried to make him feel better. He didn't have to compliment him, but he did anyway.
MackLyon I think he wanted Neville to know how Harry could master the second task (in the movie, this actually worked), but in the book Harry never asked Neville. So no regrets by Barty
Carson Drummond he feels more like a Peter pet tigers on my scale
6 лет назад+11
MackLyon I don't think that he felt bad for the boy at all. After all, his intentions were evil the whole time and his only goal was to succesfully deliver Harry to the Dark Lord. He was still absolutely devoted to Voldemort. He even killed his own father in the process. So I highly doubt that he felt any kind of remorse towards Neville. Forcing him to watch how the curse is being used suggests the exact opposite. Barty disguised as Moody was obviously enjoying it, and you don't even need to know that it's actually Barty to notice it.
He didn't feel sorry for him. What he does to Neville in his class is just chilling, forcing him to watch the Cruciatus Curse. The only reason he "complimented" Neville about his aptitude for herbology was so he would have an excuse to give Neville the book about underwater plants, hoping that Harry would see it in their dormitory and figure out the second task.
Bellatrix uses the Cruciatus curse on Neville in the battle of the Ministry. Neville still insists Harry not give up the prophecy. This is the moment when Neville not only becomes a man but also proves to his grandmother that he is JUST LIKE HIS FATHER, a great wizard. I just had to add that

2) If Neville had not kicked off too early and dropped his remembrall (Idk how to spell) and Malfoy took it, it allowed Harry to demonstrate his talent in quiditch which caught McGonagall's attention, landing Harry a spot in the Gryffindor's team
3) This should be obvious as it was covered in the video but Neville used Godric Gryffindor's sword (Which is made by Goblins and is one of the only things that could destroy Hocruxes) and killed Nagini and the Piece of Voldemort's soul in her allowing Harry to kill Voldemort

Mia Gerald thanks for repeating what the video already said
@Arr Ere Snape was still bullied and laughed on.
@Arr Ere and Neville's contributions to Harry and his friends were seen and appreciated. Snape was always misunderstood and he was only respected after his death.

@@hiswayservicesblog9288 Totally agree!

True
JustFreddi
Yes he did pull the sword out of the hat (though that could be because he was sorted into Gryffindor even though he fits more into Hufflepuff)
But it’s more likely he’s a Hufflepuff because he probably did what he did at the end of the movies/books because he knew it was the right thing, and if he was brave all the time throughout the movies/books that would point more in the direction of him being in Gryffindor. But he wasn’t, he was scared of A LOT of things. Showing he fits better into Hufflepuff.
(He could also be 50/50 in both houses like a lot of characters in Harry Potter but I think it’s more Hufflepuff than Gryffindor if anything)

Neville is my favourite
Yeah Neville is the always the one who first stands up even when his adversary/adversaries were much more powerful than him. I always liked Neville the unlikely hero and was pleasantly surprised to see him lead the DA before Harry returned to Hogwarts for the final battle. I love Luna too, she's unafraid to be different even when others see her as wierd;she clearly knows how others see her.
@Pro Gamer Neville is my second favourite after Snape
I feel that Neville kinda fulfilled two other parts of the Prophecy also:
- by showing courage and bravery to stand up both TO his friends and FOR his friends throughout the series, he "Has power the Dark Lord knows not" because those are totally opposite of the bad guy's traits
- Also this is kind of a stretch but in that book quote at 18:30 where Neville charges at Voldemort and Voldemort says "You're a brave boy of pureblood stock, you'd make a valuable Death Eater" this is kind of like "marking him as an equal" and even thought it is not literally that, it is very similar
OMG YEAH TECHNICALLY THEY BOTH FULFILLED IT EVEN WHEN IT WAS HARRY NOT NEVILLE

It's the same reason that Ron's second hand wand didn't work well either and often backfired on him (never forget the puking slugs curse)

Well feeling no emotion and nothing at all is worse than death bc he basically is dead
Dumbledore mentioned death isn't the worst thing, too! Ur right bro

Movie only, but so good!
Neville was always the underdog no one thought would turn out to be who he became
It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies. But a great deal more to stand up to your friends.
That is likely my favorite line from the entire series. Well done Neville.
Neville is a live example that inner strength is more powerful .he killed nagini and has deepest knowledge about herbology. A heads off to him.
Hermione Granger hats off genius
A snake heads off to him
Wow Hermione, you need to wor on your gramatic
Pun intended
I prefer my head on thanks! Is it heads or tails?
This actually made me cry
ikr, especially the artwork T_T
it nearly made me cry i was on the verge of tears
same
Dude I am crying too
Lisi Plays you have no idea
Voldemort: who would like to join me
Neville: steps up
Voldemort: i hoped for the better
...10 mins later...
Neville: slices naginis head off
Harry: finishes Voldemort off
Now tell me who’s the better wizard
Neville is the only one except Harry from his batch, to unlock the Gryffindor sword from the sorting hat. He should get recognition.
Divendu Ghati I know right
Neville is better
Man the thing about the wrappers from his mum actually brought me to tears. Beautifully written
I always shipped Neville and Luna, who also did the same?
I did too, I always thought they would be the better couple. Of course, it wouldn't last long due to their different personalities (Neville wanting to settle down and Luna wanting to explore). Nevertheless, they're still better than Ginny and Harry in my opinion.
Aaron dela cruz I actually do. They’re adorable
@Lydia Natalia Exactly, I hated every moment between them.
Meee!!!!
Every true PotterHead ;)
I wish Neville would’ve been the one to kill Bellatrix but the way Mrs.Weasley did it was awesome
Dabey Guanche not my daughter you bitc-
I never pieced it together that Neville got so close to one of the Death Eaters that took his parents away from him.
MackLyon I do think Barty was evil but did feel bad for some things he did
Carson Drummond he feels more like a Peter pet tigers on my scale
Uncle: holding his nephew out a window
Someone: DESSERT!
Uncle:oh yay
- Drops Neville -
Gives him a toad
UNCLE OF THE YEAR 👏👏
Great uncle actually
