I have noticed new people watching this video recently now that the palette is back. Please remember that this video was filmed in December 2018 and Gemini was limited edition and discontinued at this time. It has now (in May 2019) been re-released as a permanent item.
KitschSnitch I love that you pinned this comment. I just picked up the Gemini pallet yesterday at my local Sephora but I remember watching this when I got the smoke sessions (back in December). Most honest and in depth review on this site tbh. ❤️😆❤️😍
Hi Kat. I’m keen to add some swampy greens to my collection and you always look great with looks from the Gemini pallet. I do prefer using metallics/shimmers rather than all matte looks so I was thinking of buying both Gemini and Smoke Sessions to get a good mix of shimmer and matte. However I question that the two pallets together look a bit too much like Natasha Denona Gold which I already have. What are your thoughts? I really like how you test whether colours actually look different on your eyes not just in pan. Thanks for the help.
Maybe little random, but I appreciate the fact that when you put a box of writing on the screen, you give enough time to read it and it doesn’t disappear after like 0.5 seconds! Especially since i don’t speak English as my first language it helps a lot! Loved the video❣️

Honestly, this is the thing that makes me the maddest about Melt... Is they have this gorgeous Gemini palette that everyone is IN LOVE with and wants to get their hands on, yet they make it limited edition and take it away instead of making it one of their key permanent items in their collection?! Just why. It makes me sad because I didn't have the money to buy the palette BOTH times it restocked and I missed it the original launch so I will never get my hands on it even though I've been dying for it! I just want the beauty industry to hear its customers more.

I think what frustrates me even more than it being limited edition is the fact that they brought it back THREE TIMES after telling people they wouldn’t! Honestly melt is ridiculous when it comes to hyping up products and while I did buy the Gemini palette and am planning to buy the smoke sessions one when it’s restocked, they need to either make longer runs of product or stop hyping it up so much. Also setting a limit on the amount people can buy would be nice as well because scalpers are a big issue

I did the exact same thing before I bought my Gemini palette! I literally scoured the internet for dupes and finally after they came back out with it for the second time, I bit the bullet and bought it and I’m SO GLAD I DID. I’m obsessed. I have the same hair, eye, and skin color as you so I agree on the colors complementing our coloring. It’s freaking beautiful❤️😍
I picked up Gemini when it came back into stock despite the mixed reviews & expense because those shades of green are near impossible to find. Most greens offered are teals or emeralds not yellow greens or olive greens. I think if you got both palettes they would work well together. If you like mattes, go for Gemini.
I agree that they are almost impossible to find! I love them though and hope that other brands catch on soon!

Plus, I love your reviews, they are in depth and you are so honest. That's an opinion I can trust if I want to buy an item. Thank you. The setup is fine too. I am not a fan of those fancy backdrops and lighting that you'd never have at home. Keeping it real is the way to go!

Dupe wise (for those who want to know) I think Devinah Cosmetics and Sydney grace have very special swampy greens.
Yeah I did look at them when I was thinking instead to buy singles. They only had maybe one similar shade per brand so I thought the palette was easier haha
Another dupe is Mac cream shadows in Social Climber palette! Its the same tones!
@@KitschSnitch Ha yesss, as you said in the vid. I so understand that, I have done that myself, not only the hassle to research and buy, but also not sure if pics/swatches were true to color and perhaps also the quality. So I just bought the palette. I mainly mentioned it for the other peeps who lucked out on buying either melt palettes.

I agree with everything you said about the gemini palette! I have very similar coloring to you, just my eyes & brows are darker and I love love love my gemini! It's so flattering on me. A lot of palettes look a little off on me but this one gives me the best smokey eyes. Colors aren't so obviously green on the eye, like you said. My most expensive but the most unique palette yet!
What a great video! I bought these two palettes for myself for Xmas so I am v. interested. I am v pink toned but hope they look good. I might need clown greens! The looks were stunning and the lighting was very clear. Totally agree re available green shadows. I am always chasing army greens that are true to colour, and that don’t just look brown.

Yes girl, I missed Gemini when it was first released and was absolutely devastated. I actually almost went as far as to buy it second hand for double the price. Thank god I didn’t though because it ended up coming back 😂
Smoke sessions also isn’t my aesthetic and I was a little disappointed with the blue greens originally so I didn’t get it but your swatches have me changing my mind. I may grab it in February, especially since I am the same genera coloring as you but with blue/green eyes.

Kat, this was a really interesting video for a less obvious reason...comparing your eyes with a muted "warm" green, and a cool green makes me want to try to do the same type of thing with my own stash to compare how cooler and warmer tones look in contrast. I don't have those swampy greens, either, but I have some army greens (not dupes, but warmer greens I have) between Huda's emerald and BH Cosmetics Zodiac, and maybe some others. Anyway, I want to try that.

Jennifer Corrigan there is another palette just like it called kaleidos sci fi green palette which is half the price with almost the same shades u wouldn’t be able to tell the difference and the shimmers are better than melts
I’d love to see you do a look with both these palettes, no ones done it and I’d love to see it! These palettes are so gorgeous and I didn’t get a chance to buy, but I feel that theses were loved sm that they could bring these bk...I hope! Plus it would be nice for ppl who own both.

I think we have similar skin tone and eye color, this makes me sad that I didn’t get a chance to get my hands on either palette! The colors look so great on you. I’m definitely gonna try and snag that smoke sessions palette when it comes back.

Those greens and yellows looked so pretty on you. I'm going to have to try to recreate some of those looks. I was really wanting mustard, green, and navy blue, and I stumbled onto Coastal Scents website during their .99 sale. So glad to have those colors, although lower quality. I'm probably not "supposed" to wear warm colors, but for me they're the "statement" color (that was a good point you made). Oh, one good tip I learned for people like me with cool undertones is to color correct the blue in your under eyes when you wear yellow, if you have that problem (you don't).

You are my girl. I reallllllly wanted greens like the ones in the Gemini palette. I might still pick up the smoke sessions if it comes back but if it doesn’t I won’t be super sad. I as sad though when my first Gemini palette was lost in transit.

It's interesting how the cooler green side gives the illusion of a much bigger eye than the warm side, even though the shadow shape is the same. Both absolutely beautiful looks though! And i agree, the warm side looks like a great 'everyday wearable' look, more kinda neutral on you :)

I have both palettes too, and agree that Gemini is a good staple. Smoke Sessions is a beautiful add-on. I justified buying both because I needed to purge old eyeshadows.

Gemini is my favorite palette of the year. The black performs surprisingly well on the lower waterline. I hated the peachy shimmer - for me, even applied with a finger it makes a mess - BUT I found it applies really nicely with a small shader brush (like Zoeva 238, or similar). It took me 2 months to figure that out 😆
I have all Melt’s shadows except 27, smoke sessions and the gunmetal stack. (Gray looks like shizz on me) I also have like half of their lip stuffs. Melt is by FAR one of my favorite brands. Their products are rad, their colors are rad, their sales are super effing rad. I love that they’re not stingy with their pan size, and they’re my go-to for my glam and for special fx contouring. I also love that I can make my own stack for traveling, and I don’t have to take several pallets with me to get what I want.

I agree that they are nice and I have a few lipsticks and a few palettes now. I do like them, mainly for the unique colours, but I thinks they are a little overpriced. Unless I am obsessed with the colours, I think the formula is only worth the price tag if you most things on sale.
I bought 27 and I've noticed that some of the colours are similar to the rust stack. The goal was to get one or the other but it hasn't worked. I'm pretty sure I'm getting rust next year as Christmas is our summer holidays here in Hot Oz.
holy shit gemini's being discontinued? suddenly i'm so glad i bought both of these. you definitely convinced me even before this review lmao. tbh i could justify buying the palette, it's about the same as the abh palettes if you buy them from sephora au. and i like these colours than most of what abh is doing lately so. not 100% sure they actually suit my pink toned, super pale skin but OH WELL. i was also so surprised by how big the pans were? i was expecting the urban decay palettes n this was a very nice surprise.

I have been oogling the gemini palette forever too...and then I decided to buy the jaclyn hill vault collection, since dark magic and armed and gorgeous have a similar swampy colour. The palettes have been working so so for me, i still have to try it with silicone based primer since I usually don't use that. Hmm, now I feel like I should have probably went for the gemini.
I hope the Gemini palette comes back! I didn’t pay it that much attention when it came out, but now I want to play with more greens. I feel like these are very wearable and is balanced with neutrals.
I wasn't too impressed with the reviews I saw when the gemini palette came out, so I'm basically waiting until ND or Pat Mcgrath (or even colourpop) come out with their swampy green palette. Waiting.... waiting....
Susan P it doesn’t have all the shades by any means but have been really happy with the Colourpop good sport palette. I can get a similar green look with the mustard, deep green and shimmer green plus have more to play with. Have talked myself up of melt Gemini twice. Will see if I resist if it comes around again.

You know, smoke sessions concept and packaging isn't my bag either but your swatches of it are killing me.
Those shades speak to my soul lol. I hope someone releases a dupe palette for the Gemini. I wanted it so bad but didn't have the cash for it. Maybe Colourpop will do a warm tone green palette, or they will bring back the Gemini one so I can buy it this time around!

You are making me want these so bad. I'm signed up for emailing when they are back in stock, which Gemini still has that on the website. I have dark eyes also, so I'm wondering if the same magic will happen for me.
i love the colours in the Gemini palette, but the price and the shipping costs put me off. Because I loved the colours in the Gemini palette, and also because you'd previously said that they are not bad shadows, I ended up taking a punt on the Morphe 35M Boss Mood palette because it had some lovely swampy greens. I think their 15T palette also had these same swampy greens. I have blue eyes but those swampy greens look really wearable and yet different. Love the looks you've created and great review as per usual.

I had the Gemini palette and didn’t like the formula of the shadows they just needed up looking muddy on me. I’m curious about smoke sessions but I know I won’t use it. Love the video.
Yeah it is a drier formula, but the one I have at least still works well. But I have heard that same feedback from a few people so you aren't alone x

Hi Kat, I'm watching this again, as you said, since the palettes have been re-released, esp at sephora. I have the smoke sessions and twenty-seven palette. I did not get the gemini palette, but since the re-release, hmm... How do you think any of these compare to the juvia's place tribe palette with those green tones? That one doesn't really flatter me, as much as I like those tones. I'm med blond with blue eyes (teal-ish) and warm to neutral complexion, if any of that means anything to you. Haha! Just wondered what you think the comparison is.
Hi! I also didn't really like the tribe palette and these toned are a lot different. I would compare the greens more to the green gold shades in the Smoke Sessions palette. If you like those tones and want mattes that compliment those then I would say Gemini would work for you. If you don't like that half of the smoke sessions and prefer the icy green side, then I would avoid the Gemini. Hope that makes sense x
aww fuck I just adore this palette its a shame I will never get my grubby mitts on it! Seriously hope that 2019 is the year of the yellower toned greens because I need some in my life!
I love Gemini and Melt so very much! Just know that the stacks formula is not the same in the mattes or the shimmer/metallics. Gemini is much softer and delicate than the stacks.

I can see why you prefer the swampy greens. They blend in with your skin so nicely you might as well have been born with them on your eyes.
And now I understand why despite of liking cool toned eyeshadows they make me feel weird af when I'm wearing them.
Yeah I am the same with cool toned eyeshadows. I always feel strange wearing them and whenever I catch my reflection I am like "WHA!... oh thats right" haha
I so understand your cat "struggles". I have 4, 3 former ferals, and the zoomies can be real. Struggles completely worth it. And while typing this when your kitty yelled out my kitty went to the TV to see who was talking.

The Gemini palette looks like it was made to make your eyes pop! What palette do you think would make medium/dark grey eyes pop? My eyes really don’t lean blue or green, just grey.
Im not sure sorry! You will need to look at the shades you like wearing the most and see if these are similar in any way. I knew I would love these shades because I really enjoy using old gold and greeny bronze shades :)

Smoke Session kind of reminds me of the Natasha Denona Gold palette but with no shade repeats. Also, I think I need it now.
It is the same colour vibe minus the shades that give different effects (glitter, duo chrome etc) and minus the brighter blue/teal shades and also the transition shades and mattes that make it a complete wearable palette. So similar, but very different haha
Natasha gold palettes look the same in the pans but they all are diff colors. It’s a beautiful palette
Gah I love Melt so much. I own nothing from them but I took a makeup seminar a few years ago when I was a cosmo student and got to play in the radioactive stack and was so enamored 😊 the smoke sessions palettes the only one I’m interested in but the marijuana vibe isn’t my cup of tea either. So I’m still on the fence.
Hey Kat, You probably already own these palettes but whatever, I think you would really like the Viseart Dark Mattes (04) $98 AUD and the Theory palette in Absinthe $ 58 AUD..May I ask just what is your favourite “formula” or brand in eye shadows..
I have looked into that palette and for some reason it doesn't interest me. I don't have one favourite eyeshadow brand, but I generally quite like Bare Minerals and ABH for their price. I think they are easy to use and give a great effect. If bare minerals did a palette with these shades I would pick that over Melt any day of the week.
