    Back when there was sanity in the HD world the 883 was a medium/large motorcycle w/ the 1200 being extra-large. Now anything less than 80ci is considered too small which is BS. Most never use all the 116+ci has to give.

    I've always loved the sound of the 883 I just wish harley made the bike itself bigger for us tall guys I'm pushing 6ft and have decent enough muscle tone and I just feel like I'd look a bit out of place on one of these little guys but that sound has always been amazing like the mechanical angels created this engine using unicorn blood and dragon hearts

    ,,,congratts on having a passenger seat (I would add the small sissy-bar & a nice set of saddlebags ~but thats me) & glad to see the front fender still on her (personally I think no front fender just destroys the overall clean look of a bike & its purpose is to protect the rider from water &/or road debris - safty 1st y'all)

    • @Garyjorges79
      @Garyjorges79  4 года назад +6

      Yeah..3rd is about 50 mph est....These Harley rev high to get the most power out of them. Once you hit 4th. You start to lose the get up speed power..Fun Bikes though! !

    • @jerseygymgirl6898
      @jerseygymgirl6898 3 года назад

      I agree with Gary. These bikes thrive at high rpm. When I’m accelerating I use every bit of there gear that I can get. If I’m cruising and it’s high rpm and I’m maintaining speed I usually shift up one just to minimize the vibration.

    Great video.
    Looking at getting a Sportster 883. A friends shop has 4 in stock, an 88, 98, 99 and an 01. Looking at the 01 due to the four pot front brake caliper, saving me from having to upgrade later. Otherwise, apart from mileage differences and colours, they're all pretty much the same.
    Always reading people saying the 883 is gutless, and slow etc, but that video showed they're anything but, and more than quick enough for my needs. I'll probably rarely ever venture above 70mph anyway, and that'll only be to make overtaking safer before settling back down to a comfortable cruising speed.
    Quick question though. Other than the drag pipes, is there any performance mods made, like a stage 1, or is it otherwise stock mechanically?

      I have a 2005 883 Standard with mid-controls which are perfect for me because I'm 5'7" tall with a short inseam and my feet are directly underneath my knees. I love it because it is good for my back with its herniated disc. Forward controls force me into a slouch and pinches my sciatic nerve which results in extreme pain for days or weeks following a ride. With mid-controls I can ride forever. The nice thing about the Sportster is the option of different sets of controls. Metric V-twin cruisers only have forwards.
