Don't rub dirt or boot marks off matte paint, it will go shiney and never go away- harley makes a boot mark/bug remover for matte paint. Only letting you know from experience
Don't let the vibrations scare ya, nor let the vibe at high rpm scare ya either.... learn to love em. Put in some earplugs so you don't hear the exhaust and let the machine talk to ya. After first service don't be afraid to find redline..... do it. Slip into neutral while slowing down, just before you stop. When stopped slightly blip the throttle while lifting into neutral, it will typically slip in when the rev drops.
I remember watching your old honda cb videos when i was learning how to clean my carbs on my 75 cb360. now i sold it so i can get a iron 883 and i came across your 883 video haha. full circle. looking forward to more vids
Got the same bike last October, also black denim. My first bike at 51 years old. Just put a stage 1 on it and what a difference! Btw, when you start modding out your bike go to DK customs! They saved me a freaking fortune in my stage 1 and it actually works! Not just for show only with their mods! Seriously, I’m not affiliated with them or anything, I just really, really, appreciate a company that goes out of their way to supply the customer with real, usable, and doable information! I’ll never buy any performance mods from anyone but them ever again!
I just picked up a 2019 883 myself. Got it off my cousin who really didn’t ride a lot. As of this post it is 5 years old but only 1500 miles on it. I’m really enjoying it. I’m not tall at all, 5’5” and I’m able to flat foot it and controls feel comfortable. At 16 in high school (40 yrs ago) I rode had a Honda v-30 magna v4, great bike, smooth engine compared to the 883 but the sound and history of Harley can’t be beat!
Your fuel mileage is normal given your mileage on bike.I am hardly ever in fifth gear and my mileage is close to 50 on a 1200. Once it breaks in your mileage will improve and more possibly after the first service. To get to neutral easier, go down to first and then go up into neutral. All big twins do it this way. It helps a little. I love how they handle and feel on the road once your kidneys are gone and your lower spine is your new shock. The iron 883 really has the looks. My biggest regret was that I bought a super low instead of the iron to save some bucks on a 3 yr leftover. The iron 883 always looked cool.
I got the short shorts. They are loud!!! I need ear plugs if im at highway speeds. If im going through the town the sound just rattles everything and everyone. I freaking love it!!!
I have a 48 but I understand the issue with the mirrors down, the way to fix is very simple and it gives you a better use for the side/rear view mirrors. All you have to do is to loosen up the handle bar and push it forward until you can see better behind and to the sides and also to avoid hitting the gas tank .... And of course you are going have to rotate the clutch and brake lever to your needs. Cool bike bro, best regards.
Great review,..I have a 2016 Iron 883 and is my first bike!! Love it and really am learning how to ride safely and having fun on it. Everyone loves the look of it and I agree. I live on Southern Vancouver Island in Canada and can't wait for milder weather to get back out there and see my countryside!! Ride safe!!
Congrats on the new bike dude and nice review! Have a 2020 Iron 883 and did a few upgrades(seat is a must!!). Welcome to the H-D Family and ride safely!!!
I got the 2020 883. The 1200 is just not comfortable for me. I didn't like it at all. I'm 5'9" and the 883 is perfect. I love it. I put drag bars on mine and I don't have a problem with the low slung mirrors. I love how the denim black looks... when I've recently applied the cleaner. After that stuff wears off, it looks horrible. You can see all the flaws on my tank mostly. I got it with 260 miles on it and the previous owner spilled fuel all over the tank, I guess, and it looks bad. If I had a choice, I would have gotten a glossy black or the tan color. I have the Short Shots and it's loud. Wear ear plugs if you get them. I really want a 2019 Breakout though, lol. One day...
I used to struggle getting into neutral as well until i discovered a trick going into neutral from 2nd gear. I simply pull the clutch and slide my foot downward and to the left, causing the clutch peg to sorta bounce and automatically lands into neutral EVERY TIME lol. If youve ever done a kickflip on a skateboard its the exact same thing.
This is a badass bike I saw one in person they so look amazing in person I even stop to look at it for a moment is something to admire i hope one day I get one
I have a 2020 883 Iron and I love it. I had problems with the mirrors but I just bout 2" extensions from Amazon and that solved the problem and I can see fine now.
I have the same problem getting it into neutral at stop lights. Its annoying and with the clutch being as hard I hate it. When the bike is off its super easy to hit neutral. Great vid man
when you try to put it in neutral from 1st gear, make sure the gear pedal is 'locked'.. if it has play when you step on it, roll it forward about a foot and then you'll feel it 'lock' it's easy to put it in neutral from the 'locked' position, but almost impossible to put it in neutral when it's not.
Hey man, have the exact same model. The fuel light comes on when you've got about 1/3 of a tank left. I do the same thing with the trip odometer. I know if I hit 100 miles I can still go a ways, but the light comes on just to remind you that you've got about a gallon of fuel left in the tank. (A little less for me now that I put a tank life on the bike)
Congratulations on your new bike, I have a 2019 iron 1200 gloss black. I like the flat black color better but the iron 1200 that year didn’t have a flat black option. Your review was very nice and it looks like you live in a beautiful area of Southern California, lots of palm trees and beautiful mountain views. Nice scenery and refreshing. I get about 44 miles per gallon, and my light goes on at 100 miles. I’ve never really pushed it but I would imagine I would probably get at least 144 miles to a tank, but never pushed it.
I like my 883 I take a lot of flack for it a bit, it's not too bad on gas,got mine cheap had only 3000 miles on it. They make them quiet cus they got sued for loud pipes. They are light on the highway but that dont bother me much. The sportsters have always looked nice. When I was young I had a 250 Suzuki x 6 when my friends brother gave me the keys to his XLCH that's all I ever wanted after that, did a lot of hill climbing on both, and you will find you can hill climb on the 883. Love it when I climb up the devider on the highway. Try doing that on a glide and whipping through traffic and when cars are side by side I do the cal thing and go between them.
Good day eh!, I made a promise to myself, I've had 4 motorcycle's so far in my 60 plus years, but none have been a harley davidson, so, I'll be 65 in a few month's, I promised myself a harley for my 65th, I really like the iron 883, not a lot of things you don't need, just a awesome lookin bike, n I'm not a big guy, so, I figure the iron will suit me just dandy, one can always purchase different exhaust where I live, or change up on equipment for a 883, I just luv the look of the iron 883, I know that's what I'll be buying come the fall, drive safe n stay healthy, shakyjake out.
Who or where did you went to change the mirrors upside down? Mine is also 1 week old but one of the mirrors (left One) vibrates when I reach 60 mph and it get’s hard to change lane like that.
@@kalakachi1 it is easy to do this by yourself i watched the same problem with left mirror. Seems it is a HD Sportster specific thing. May it could help to get more weight on this morror so that vibrations will be reduced.
I just bought a 2017 model. Previous owner did upgrades and this is my first bike EVER. I instantly felt comfortable. My pipes r super load and I'm thinking of putting back the original. I live in an apartment complex so that noise is going to get me in trouble. My clutch is or were hard but I think I'm getting use to it.
In the last 2 weeks I've bought an 06 Mustang GT that is pretty sick looking and it's super fast and it sounds mean sitting there camming like it does. I also just bought a basically brand new 2022 KTM duke 200 that i got for a really good lick and it only has 300 miles on it and not even broke in yet and the break in on it is 1500 miles.Regardless I'm gonna keep the KTM duke 200 but in about 6 months to a year I'm gonna get a Harley that's blacked out similar like this and that matches my black Mustang GT and that sounds like my mustang as well. Only problem I'm having is getting my stupid motorcycle permit so i can then get my license because I've been to the DMV twice in the last week to only leave both times and not able to even take the test because they've you sitting there for literally HOURS and HOURS because they're busy as hell and so slow that they hardly get people moving and I can't keep going up there for nothing and sitting there forever and I've to take off work each time just to go which really pisses me off. I'm trying to do it the right way but since i can't get in to even take the dumb test on computer I'm about to just ride it without the motorcycle endorsement and if i get pulled over then I'm just gonna tell them i tried and that's on them and that i only have certain windows i can do stuff with work and life because i actually have a life. I hate the DMV and always have but this is just ridiculous but I'm NOT gonna just sit here with a bike that i can't even ride because of that,NOT MY PROBLEM!
The stock pipes also strangle the performance. I got an V&H Feulpak and slip on exhaust. And I installed a K&N air intake w filter. Watch out, though, since the air intake requires the older style 'oval' air cover. So, after installing the air intake and loving it, I had to find (which is nearly impossible) an oem oval cover. I love the bike though. Mine is a chameleon green 2018. As far as mileage, you get about 35 m/g. My stage one upgrade got me about 2-4 more m/g, surprisingly. I got a small Puig windscreen just to block my chest. Have fun! Everyone upgrades within a year maybe two. But I'm 47 and enjoying the ride. It's less stressful to take out a smaller bike. I've had it for about 3 years and have no plans to upgrade. Neutral does kind of suck. I go max speed 65 if there's a lot of wind. I don't consider it a great highway bike. But it can do it.
In my humble opinion, no one should be in neutral at a stop. And it scares me that people are unaware of how to safely drive a motorcycle. If you don't know or care about that, what else do you ignore? Are there licensing requirements? Or is the course bullshit? Or is it just the arrogance of youth, thinking nothing can happen to me? Stay safe.
I’ve got the 883 with the VH short shots with the stage 1. Absolutely love it but I do get around 130 miles out of a tank. You must be very throttle happy.
I bought a DRZ 400 to have a dual sport, but found I just wasn't riding off road much. And I did not like the DRZ400 as it was way too tall and I am over 6'. I was raised on bikes with much lower seat heights. So I sold the DRZ400 and bought a Harley 883 Sportster. I like the Sportster WAY better. And it looks WAY better...lol
I'm not liking the new look of the 883 sportster and therefore considering getting a 2021 one; is that wise or should I look for an alternative? Can't decide..
I had a 20 Iron 883 for 10 months, put on some pretty decent slip ons from some company called DNA it rumbled, had to get some different baffles to quiet it down some lol. I ended up traded it in for a 21 Softail Standard, but it was a great bike, I bought it new and it had over 7200 miles when I traded it in for the Softail.
I love it, it ride so much smoother especially on the highway. I do miss the sound of that Evo engine though this thing is too quiet lol. Safe ridin' Brother!
Don't let height bother you, I am 5'5 with 28inseam. And I have a cbr600rr and had order a street glide without any plan to lower or change the seat. I mean every harley is superb with character, but if the weight or height make you chose the 883, I think that is not necessary. Take the street bob at lease, the M8 engine gives you the full harley feeling.
Nice video bro. I picked up a 21 883 also back in March. My next mod will be the rear shocks for sure. I have 1k miles on her and neutral was difficult to get. Now being its broken in its much easier. Sometimes I do have to walk it in order to get it in N. I managed to get my 883 right at 100mph. The second the speedometer touch 100mph I noticed she started a bit of a wobble! No bueno....so I just let off the throttle. It's nice to see she can hit 100mph. Here in Florida its not as nice of a scenery as in Cali. JELLY! How do you like your Alpinestars gloves? Im looking for a better pair. My Joe Rocket gloves seem to cut off circulation on my throttle hand. Also its a pain in the ass to get on and off. Thanks for the video bro....Two Wheels Down!
Yea you have to change out the rear shocks. Check out my video on the progressive 412 shocks 😬 the Alpine stars gloves are my favorite ones. But they still make my right hand numb sometimes. Don't think u can get away with that, everyone's hand gets numb lol. I plan on getting some softer leather/cow hide ones for cruising 🤙
Just buy a 4.5 gallon tank from sportster efi and throw it in there harley also makes a guage especially for sportsters well worth it brother ive done all this to my bike
It’s funny you to talk about a Drz 400 Sm I have a 22 and I love it. such a hooligan bike. I just bought a 2016 883 they are both dope bikes. I’m definitely keeping both. I’m 5’9 and I got no problem with the DRz. I can wheelie the 400 pretty easily not the same story for the 883 but I’ll get it up there in time.
i'm thinking about getting an 883 when i get my license back but i'm worried about the leanangle. I used to ride very fast which is why i lost my license and i'm worried that i might not be able to keep up with my friends on a bike like this? Any experiences? Maybe some ideas for mods to increase leanangle?
If you watch my 883 vids, you'll see I can't keep up with friends 😂 get a 1200 or higher. Lean angle is fine for me. If you want lean, get a sport bike. These are cruisers lol
5'8" here too. Think you're too worried about being able to flat foot and then some. Seen a dwarf and plenty of women riding what they want. But I understand the feeling lol
Garb some Sharkroad slip on's it was I have on my 1200 it's loud don't need a tune cause it just slip ons I do too want V&H pipes just saving the money for a full stage 1 tune. Congrats one the bike!
Since it's new and I need to break it in, I'm keeping the rpm around 3500-4000. But after the break in, I usually don't look at rpm and feel the engine when it needs to shift. You should practice the same to listen and feel out the engine 😬🤙
Hey i have a same 21 Iron 883 and exactly same colour as well. I had the same up/side down mirror set up like you have but the left mirror was keep contacting the side of the tank. Just wondering yours isn't like that? I ended up buying a small mirror...if you solved this problem please let me know, thanks in advance!!!
The mirror will hit the tank with the stock bars, unless you adjust the bars more upwards until they don't hit. I bought new taller handlebars, which solves the problem. I don't like the stock bars. Check out my vids.
Not a fun of the iron 883. I much prefer the 48 with spoke wheels and lower to the ground look. I have a 2020 Indian Scout but adding a Harley is something I would love to do one day. The 48 would be my choice for an in town bike.
The sportster s is a nice option too..especially when the aftermarket parts start rolling out..I got the 21 Scout Bobber and its one hell of a fun bike especially through town
I don’t think it’s super quiet when you’re riding around when you’re on your bike it sounds quiet because the way the sound is being thrown I drove right next to my brother when he rode mine back home and that shit was loud
Do you have vlog for Installing the Gas Reader for your bike bro'? That would be helpful i'm planning to buy same bike as you have and i am worried about gas reader coz as what you say it doesn't have only when it lit up on the screen
I don't. But there's a trick, just set the trip to 0 when you fill up and when it hits 100miles, then you know you'll need to fill up again. I actually don't worry about the fill up too much anymore. You'll get used to it as you ride. It lasts me pretty long if you check out my vids.
Hello Sir, Im quite confused beetwen Triumph Bonneville & Sportster 833. my plan to buy for my dad which height around 164cm. do you have advice for first cruiser bike.
The Bonneville is a very balanced light bike love them and fast had the 650 and the 750 but didn't like the fact of the clutch sticking when it sat too long. Harley 883 is a bit heavier and not as balanced but you get use to it. Like the sound and the clutch never sticks ever, and I'm down too 180 lbs. Is not a race bike but get some iridium plugs it give you a bit more power.
@@kevlarxkoffee I think a lot of Sportster riders move to Softail or Touring in one year. My opinion is don't spend $$ on stage 1 unless you are really sure you will keep this bike for years.
It's the GUB phone mount, but I suggest a more expensive one that has a "dampener". So that the vibration won't screw up your phone camera. Happened to my old phone and had to buy a new one 😝
Hey bro, my bike is back up and running. Msg me on IG, I'll be up at Chaparral motorsports on Thursday with a friend. Hit me up for info. Might do a ride during the weekend too 🤙

Stay safe.
A friend of mine has the same bike he ride it up to 110 mph he was scared the bike was shaking hard but other then that he say it a good bike
I’ve got the 883 with the VH short shots with the stage 1. Absolutely love it but I do get around 130 miles out of a tank. You must be very throttle happy.
VH short shots are extremely loud huh... I'm really considering the quiet silencers.
@@gixicoN I did that and it’s still loud but bearable haha. It dropped the sound by around 10 decibels.
The new Nightster looks SWEET. I love the look of the 883. I want mini apes. I'm torn between the Nightster, Street Bob, and Road Glide.
I'm looking into getting a Harley for my first ever bike! Either this one or the Sportster S have my eye, what you think
Either one is cool for your first bike. If you don't have your m1 license yet, I suggest taking the msf course. That's what I took 🙌🔥
How do you like the soft tail? Pretty sure I'll keep this one for at least a year or two 🤙
I love it, it ride so much smoother especially on the highway. I do miss the sound of that Evo engine though this thing is too quiet lol. Safe ridin' Brother!
You can always do the conversion if you plan on keeping it and want more power.
Conversion to what?
Look at a Fab28 exhaust for your sportster. You can get it shipped to CA
Yes, cars can hear you if with loud exhaust.
I too have problem putting my 883 into neutral.
I've adjusted my clutch cable from the engine side and the lever. It's goes into nuetral good now 🤙
I love the design of Iron 883 but i think Vulcan S is a better Bike overall.
The indian scout bobber is a step above, the Vulcan 650 is a nice bike tho it was my wife's first one before upgrading
@@daveivins5968 been thinking of looking at one.you sparked my interest again.
I have a vulcan i like it..but still I want 883,don't know why...
Beautiful bike. You have good taste
any difference to a 2020 model compared to a 2013 2014? and what model years have the same seat as yours?
I need to hear your comparisons to the 43. I need to know if it's worth it
Don't let height bother you, I am 5'5 with 28inseam.
Sportster vs Grom! That's a hoot!
Cannot believe HD axed the 883! Got a feeling or a hope at least it'll return when they see how many love the 883. Its so basic & stripped.
Just buy a 4.5 gallon tank from sportster efi and throw it in there harley also makes a guage especially for sportsters well worth it brother ive done all this to my bike
I have the same bike but its a 2022 amd i dont feel like its that heavy tbh, mines about 480 lb
Being 5’5 -5’6 do you think I’d be able to flat foot ? Thinking about going this route.
If you get a bobber seat, I think so. Go to the dealership and sit on some to feel them out 🤙
What? Iron 883 dont have fuel tank indicator?
It’s funny you to talk about a Drz 400 Sm I have a 22 and I love it. such a hooligan bike. I just bought a 2016 883 they are both dope bikes. I’m definitely keeping both. I’m 5’9 and I got no problem with the DRz. I can wheelie the 400 pretty easily not the same story for the 883 but I’ll get it up there in time.
I’m either gonna get this or the 48, leaning towards the 48 even tho this one looks a little cooler
Why the 48? Just curious.
@@Tonympiotrowski more power at highway speeds, 883 loses power around 75, 48 loses power around 90
@@sykrss9534 883 does not lost power at 75.. It's max speed is 100 MPH.
@@mikeb4471 have you rode one? They don’t have much pull left after 75-80, get off the stat sheet
cool editing nice work guy
Just got my iron 883 and having the same issue with neutral. Gets a bit annoying but not a dealbreaker
After changing the clutch plates out to performance plates, it goes into neutral easy now. But try adjusting your clutch cable first, it might help 🤙
Victoria gardens?
i'm thinking about getting an 883 when i get my license back but i'm worried about the leanangle.
@@kevlarxkoffee you're right, guess i'll need to get older before i get one. Thanks for your reply
is this bike comfortable for someone thats 5,68 feet (1,73m)
👋will u need new set of cables to raise the handle bars? And could you just drill through the dipper to get louder popes?
Check out my video on the new handlebars. I didn't need to replace the cables 😬🤙
Jekyl and hide pipes check em out
I got a sporty to hate the way the pipes make it sound like a sweat 😓 shop is at work very quiet
Victoria Gardens, nice 👌🏽
5'8" here too. Think you're too worried about being able to flat foot and then some. Seen a dwarf and plenty of women riding what they want. But I understand the feeling lol
My Harley my Harley you are my number one....
Whats wrong with the turn signals?
Garb some Sharkroad slip on's it was I have on my 1200 it's loud don't need a tune cause it just slip ons
I do too want V&H pipes just saving the money for a full stage 1 tune. Congrats one the bike!
Just bought my 883 too. At what rpm do you usually switch to 2nd gear, 3rd and so on? Thanks btw.
Since it's new and I need to break it in, I'm keeping the rpm around 3500-4000. But after the break in, I usually don't look at rpm and feel the engine when it needs to shift. You should practice the same to listen and feel out the engine 😬🤙
Around 2800 to 3000
Hey i have a same 21 Iron 883 and exactly same colour as well.
@@kevlarxkoffee oh i see, yes I’ve ordered a 12” ape for mine and just free of headache haha. Thanks for the answer tho, safe riding!
Congratulations!
Not a fun of the iron 883. I much prefer the 48 with spoke wheels and lower to the ground look. I have a 2020 Indian Scout but adding a Harley is something I would love to do one day. The 48 would be my choice for an in town bike.
I love the 48. It's just the tank is too small. Might still get it in the future and swap out the tank.
The sportster s is a nice option too..especially when the aftermarket parts start rolling out..I got the 21 Scout Bobber and its one hell of a fun bike especially through town
@@daveivins5968 is the bobber powerful? Can u take it on the highway?
Just got mine in Gunship grey 😍
I don’t think it’s super quiet when you’re riding around when you’re on your bike it sounds quiet because the way the sound is being thrown I drove right next to my brother when he rode mine back home and that shit was loud
How much price?
You cant compair a grom to full size bike motors are bigger n yes it will burn more gas same in a car u get big v8 burn more then a v6 or inline 4
Nice perspective. Are you based in Socal?
Yup sothern cali. Inland Empire area, but our group is all over. IE, OC, LA...
@@kevlarxkoffee Cool. Does your group do any canyon carving.
One thing the should've upgraded was adding liquid cooled..most other sportsters in that price have it included
where you located? I have a grom and and thinking of an HD 48 or 883 myself. Im in TX.
Sothern California. An hour away from Los Angeles. Get the 48 🤙
Nice bike I ride my 2009 Dyna street bob with Timberland boots too!
They should have put a six speed trany I keep running out of gears
@@neilstern7108 noce advice.. thanks
Very nice love the sporsters they are very comfortable easy to throw around ride safe 🧐❤️❤️❤️
If you don’t mind what is your monthly payment looking like ?
$0 monthly payments 🤙 Paid full, 11.5K otd. Ask for Andrew, he's a cool dude ✌️

Hi from Ukraine! Is this a native steering wheel ? looks great
i ve got one 2018 model got 11500 mile on it,prefer honda cbr though
Why not the 1200?
Look and style 😅 I've sold it since. I'm now on a 2022 Harley 48 🙌
@@kevlarxkoffee Nice choice.
With all that work you should’ve just gotten a street bob my friend 👍
I might upgrade in a few years, I'll see lol. Once I do the stage 1 kit, I'll see how it goes.
@@kevlarxkoffee I think a lot of Sportster riders move to Softail or Touring in one year. My opinion is don't spend $$ on stage 1 unless you are really sure you will keep this bike for years.
Yeah or gotten a 1200 to last a year or two longer

Which shocks did you go with bro? link?
Progressive 412. I have a video on it with links in the vid description, check it out 🤙
What is that phone mount? It looks interesting.
It's the GUB phone mount, but I suggest a more expensive one that has a "dampener". So that the vibration won't screw up your phone camera. Happened to my old phone and had to buy a new one 😝
