Loklik Cutter - How To Update Software, Firmware & Trying Out Print Then Cut

  • In todays applelover53 video i am showing you how to update the software, firmware and machine calibration for the Loklik cutter and I am attempting to do a print then cut. I would add another firmware update has been released since I recorded this video V0010 and i have installed it and the PTC still doesn't work for me.
    If it works for you can you tell me in the comments below what computer you use ie Mac or Windows which versions of both the software and firmware for Loklik you are using please

    I updated the software lately and find it much better to use than before. Also thanks for your sharing!

    Thanks for this, I had the same trouble, ie telling me it was cutting when it wasn't! I thought it was something I'd done, obviously not. Also think my calibration is the same as yours, says it's been successful but I don't think it has, need to try it again.bBe very interested to know what Loklik have to say about the problem.

      Hi since i recorded this video I have now tried print then cut 10 times and its failed to cut properly every time. @Loklik were on Chinese new year holidays, but they have come back to me and just said "We are sorry that you are not satisfied with our cutting machine. We are constantly optimizing various functions and we will do our best to make it better." so I am hoping that maybe there will be another update that will make this work for everyone. I would add once in the software you can send feedback by using the Help from the top of the page and selecting feedback. Hopefully they can make it work. It could simply be down to what type of computer people are using, operating system anything. It is a good machine for its price I use it mostly for cutting vinyl, the mats are the stickiest ive ever used

      Am going to try it again later today, will let you know how I get on. I agree, it's a good little machine for the money and, as you say, it cuts vinyl beautifully, guess we've been spoilt by the Scan n Cut - which I absolutely LOVE btw. It's nice to 'play' with something else now and again and I love trying to see what the Loklik is capable of. I will send feedback to Loklik about this issue and the lack of a 'broken line' option, see what happens.

    This definitely seems to be a nightmare for lots of people. I am loathe to update my firmware as print and cut was working fine right out of the box but I haven’t tried it since I updated just the software. Hopefully it will still be good. I just haven’t had time to look yet.
    One thing I did notice was that you turned it off the Print and Cut setting before you cut and just had it on cut. I leave mine on Print and Cut for the whole process. I don’t know if this will make any difference. Also if I remember rightly, on the drop down Help list there is also a Re-calibrate choice as well as calibrate which you could try (They may have taken it off now in the newer software version). I have read that some folk have had to try up to 10 or more times to get it to calibrate correctly so I wish you luck. P.s. when testing I use copier paper on the same sublimation setting as you, so as not to waste my sticker paper

      Ive tried a total of 10 times now think i left it on P&C as well, gone through so much copy paper, Ive given up for now as I have other things to do but I will go back to it. There is a reset callibration & callibration in the help section not a re calibrate maybe they renamed it. Its still a good cutter for vinyl

      Yes, I meant Reset Calibration. I read or saw somewhere from Loklik that if the calibration isn't right on first calibration then you should use Reset Calibration afterwarrds. Don't know if it would really make much difference though.. Let's hope they bring out a new firmware update soon. I know they have a big one coming in June with lots of new features. I think these interim ones are just patch ups to TRY to fix the worst problems. I can feel your frustration though because it's a good little machine and you expect it to work well even if it was a cheap price. Good job you've got your scan N cut to fill in the shortfalls. I'm going to try mne again today to see if it still works with the new software update and if it does I'm going to leave it alone for now and not update the firmware. Good luck with yours

      Just an update. I tried it again and because the registration marks have changed it wouldn't work so I was forced to do the firmware update. I tried again without calibration but it was off so I calibrated and still off. I did 3 calibrations in all and the third attempt seems to be successful. So I am relieved. I think you'll just have to keep going until you get there. (I didn't use the Reset Calibration by the way).

    I have the exact same problem, just got my LOKLIK yesterday, V10 firmware. If you find a solution please make a video about it.

      Mine works fine for cutting but i still cannot get print and cut to work, but If i find a solution i will make a video

    Hi, did anyone figure out how to get downloaded fonts on Loklik? I only use my downloaded fonts on Loklik but they won't show. (panicking)

    hi, hoping you or someone could help. i was trying to update the loklik machine, but my finger slipped from the loklikpower button and now it wont turn on. my mac is running on Sonoma. would greatly appreciate the help

      Other than turning it off removing the cable and then putting it back in and turning on, no i dont know i would contact Loklik

    Hi I have had my loklik a week I clicked on the help bar and was prompted to update on screen advice was to press the power button until it had updated my machine won’t switch back on and the LOKLiK program won’t find my device arggg panicking any advice? Many thanks

      Did you make sure that your cutter was attached to your computer via the cable that came with it you can’t do it over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi it has to be physically attached to do the updates. If you did I would suggest you close down the program unplugged the machine from the power And then try again another time everything worked fine for me. I just followed all the on screen prompts. The only problem I have with my machine is it does not cut the print and cut properly apart from that. It is a good cutting machine.

      Hi yes I had the usb cable plugged in followed the instructions and it just went off and won’t come back on I shut everything down and powered off but it won’t come back on and even with the cable plugged in it won’t search for my cutter not sure what to do send it back or uninstall software then try again ? Thanks for responding to my message 😊

      Not heard of that problem, maybe reach out to loklik and see what they say. Have you tried clearing cookies on your computer, you cannot do updates on an ipad loklik told me that feature is not available yet

      I just received my cutter 2 days ago and open it last night and experience the same exact thing. It was on firmware 7.0 and prompt to update to 10 and I did that, it shows update successfully on my computer but then the cutter just shutdown and won’t turn back on. I unplugged it, wait 3mins and plug everything back in and nothing, I even try to plug it into a new outlet and connect it back to my computer usb and still wouldn’t turn on. TG I was still within the return policy with Amazon. They will send me a replacement tomorrow but I’m so afraid to update it now. I will however send an email to them and let them know about the issues that have become a problem for a lot of people. You are not the only one, Amazon rep told me he have been seeing that this is a major issues a lot of people be having and it not cool because I need this for my business that I’m about to launch. I literally purchase everything machine wise from HTVRont which was not cheap at all and this is the only product that I start having issues with before I even get to use the thing. Big inconvenience because this is the main machine I need to make my designs
