I was waiting for the actual fork seal replacement portion of the video, but instead I got about a minute of a guy riding a motorcycle at the end of the video. This started out great but when it comes to motorcycle repair I am not into cliffhangers.
Thanks man, you wouldn't believe the number of videos I've watched on changing fork seals, but not one of those numb-nuts even MENTIONED the oil lock piece @ 5:20. The damned Shadow book I have shows the piece going in upside down, and got me cornfused on which way it went in, so thanks for clarifying that for me.
My question is can you replace the seals from the bottom, without taking the top half apart? That looks like what he is implying. Any help would be great thanks.
I don’t know what happened but the video went sideways into a ride on the street. It did not show the reinstall. Do you have another video that shows reinstall?
chaps..please dont go sticking a screw driver in or around your fork seals...use a fine copper probe or brass pick or hard alloy seal lever..this will stop you from marking or nicking the fork tubes. which if you do so.. will lead to your new seals failing. ps if your warm your alloy sliders .. this will in turn soften your seals and you wont have to smash the shit out of the bushes to remove them...this is real basic stuff.. use a hot air stripper not a blow lamp to warm your sliders. come on chaps..screw drivers and fork seals...dont mix...
Finally a video somebody actually shows close up and explains what's going on

This is awesome guys (a how-to video)! Thanks so much for making an intimidating job look easy to a non-wrencher!
That's the first half of "How too" is there a second part "Putting it back together" ?

bloody good job
GOOD VIDEO !!!!
You nicked the aluminum dude!
Can you protect it some how?
What could happen if i just take off the clamp o ring from the seal with out disassembling the lower part of the fork?
well, gee how do you put it back?
NewDay867 do everything backwards. You'll have to remove the forks from the triple clamps up top to slide everything down.
Where can i buy the seals please link..
So, a video on how to do half the job. Hmmm…
