  • This Video covers how change a set of fork seals this video in in a series meaning there is more than one. I recommend replacing bothe the slider and the guide bushing when you replace the seals. They are out anyway and 90% of the time the bushing casued the leak in the first place. We have more tech videos at Northstarriders feel free to come take a look

With the aid of your 4 videos, we were able to repair a friends leaking front forks on his VTX 1800 trike, saving him hundreds of dollars. Thanks for taking the time to share this information with all the DIY mechanics!

    Damn fine video, Sir!
I believe VTX1800 and Valkyrie 1500 share the same forks.
You might want to add Valkyrie to your video title, to help all the Valk riders out there since we don’t have a video like this for our forks.

Out of 16 motorcycles over the years this VTX1800 is the first I've needed to replace the fork seals. Thanks to your videos it's a fairly easy job to do.
    I appreciate your doing them.
A question that nobody seems to know the answer to is "Why are the two fork legs different in design"? I thought they would just be mirror images
of each other, but the internals are very different. Would you know? Thanks.

I wonder if we can put two oil seals in there; if one is broken, the other can take over. That way, we never need to deal with forks

Any idea how much in parts plus labor a shop would charge for fixing a leak on just one front shock? I have an 03 vtx1800R if that helps

robert S No they won't but there are 3 types of stock rims on 1800 models. Compare the R, F and S models. 2 are cast and 1 is spokes. Also, there's TONS of aftermarket killer rims out there. Check out RCcomponents
