The 9P157-2 Khrizantema is a very unique vehicle in War Thunder. It is the only ground vehicle that has a fire control system that can track tanks. Despite what you might think, this actually doesn't make the Khriz very broken. The ground radar is incredibly situational, as most matches occur in close quarters city maps. Gaijin have talked about adding similar fire control systems to more tanks, and I think they should avoid doing so. Having autotrack on something like the M1A2 would make the game pretty trivial and boring.

good thing you can increase depression its quite simple
quick tip Spookston, you can increase the missile depression by using the range setting to raise your gun, it lets the missile go lower and have somewhat more depression. theres a part in a zoltansultan almost useful knowledge that explains it.
Or just use 3rd person view
You can also select 2nd weapon to aim from the launcher and not the hull camera thingy

The reason why you see a lot of people have really long bomb timers is because assault fuze, used to cause it to detonate on impact, now its like 10 seconds
Not totally true. Its more of a game bug. Assault fuze does detonate on impact. Ive been in a game where a bomb was dropped near me, but i had enough time to get away, then it exploded.
Apparently it's a bug, we're if the bomb falls for more than 1s, it detonated instantly, but if it is dropped for less than 1s (fall time) it will take a long ass time to detonate
Assault use was made to guarantee the safety of the pilot, and for gaijin, 7-10s of fuse time won't kill the plane, it's true, but unnecessary, just use 2s fuse time bruh
ye, i have noticed it when i played the arado, i had it on assault fuze but it still took like 1 sec to explode
IIRC Assault fuse is supposed to be detonate on impact as long as it has been >2 seconds since the bomb was dropped.
@GreenWithers I put 1.5s because for really big bombs, It actually allows me to save my plane. And for smaller bombs? To scare them
Pro Tip: you can actually kinda exploit terrain by artificially lowering the cross hair through adjusting the distance.
should always learn how to aim by means of distance control, this way you can just RMB (automatic turret targets) your targets and keep locked on while moving.
I used this thing for quite a while so here comes info for people who dont have it:
Radar can be closed or set to have a smaller vertical search radius (good if there are too many dead bodies and you try to lock something higher than the horizon line).
If you shoot missile while locked onto something, the missile is out of your control even if you no longer are locked.
You can lock people through smoke and trees but if the tank passes through the tree hitbox the radar has very low chance of picking it up again (so unless sure then its best to shoot manualy)
The thing has a sight+radar bug that hasnt been fixed in years. You just have to select primary weapon and it locks the sight and radar in 1 place and there is no way of reverting that till death.( it will use the launcher sight instead of gunner sight)
It is a BMP3 chasey but it doesnt have hidraulic suspention
On paper it has -5 depression but using the radar it goes down to around -10 (radar only)
The launcher tubes do NOT explode. dont bother shooting it there. just shoot HE/-AT at the radar.
The fuel tank has like a 5% chance of stopping a full apfsds from the front.
If you get shot above the sights, it will shrapnell and kill the crew.
Can lock aircraft but it works only if its withing 2km and can hit only if its flying at less than 100km/h (good enough to kill hovering helis)

You missed one thing: the radar's range can be adjusted to up to 8km, making it a very good improvised SAM system for killing helicopters.
@@turkeyboy5543 it doesnt lock them beyond a certain range because it acts more like an IR search than actual radar. if it doesnt lock just do it manually

The bombs delay are bugged after the new Battle Pass have come out, It's highly unlikely for Toptier CAS Players to put the delay for so long (I've experienced the bug and it made me mad), and more bugs have popped up, only two bugs that I'm aware (heck there might be more, good job snail), the bomb delay and the Tank's Gun sound stop working and reload is not working after the damage gun barrel are repaired which made a huge confusion.
Not quite a bug.
They recently FINALLY fixed assault fuse to do what it's meant to do. Bombs with an assault fuse will now not detonate until they've been off the rail for at least 4.5 seconds. If they hit the ground BEFORE 4.5 seconds have passed, the fuse continues counting down. If they hit the ground AFTER 4.5 seconds have passed, they're contact fuse.

Hey Spookston, im currently grinding the German Tank Techtree however the grind is going painfully slow with me only getting between ~1-3k RP per match, is there any way or trick I can speed up the process?

There is literally no other way. Just like Ace here said, just pay the snail. I once got a week of premium and not only did my win rate increase, but the grind got much easier
Unfortunately there's no real efficient way to speed up the grind for free. Instead of buying a premium vehicle I would talisman a workhouse like the Jagdpanther or M41. Talismans can be acquired for free through the warbonds shop but it takes a lot of time.
Get good, buy premium, use boosters. Or play realistic if not already. If doing the air tree, bombing is a very lucrative way to get RP and SL.
I feel like the number of extremely short range maps you get increases with br. It's just so goddamn annoying for me. Why can't my Leo 1's fight like they're supposed to, at long range to take advantage of their guns? Same thing with every atgm carrier, as this video highlights. It's just a fucking fps at this point. You have to drive around a tiny fucking city map at top speed and get lucky enough to shoot at your opponent first. It's not even a game anymore, just a shitty sweatfest.
Could it be that you get the same maps, but the range feels closer because the high BR ammunition flys faster? End result being that the observed range, by an individual, is decreasing.
@@codefeenix That’s one part, however I believe the person was referring to the fact that almost all maps currently in rotation are urban environments with small and narrow roads like Sweden or Cargo port, as opposed to larger, more long ranged maps like Fulda. In these smaller and short range environments, tanks with armor and weapons that are best used at extremely long range now provide no benefit over the competition. It is simply whoever drives faster and whoever has faster reaction times. If I’m wrong feel free to correct me
@@thathalfcanadian5543 I played 8.3 and i got big Fulda and OG Maginot and other long range maps more often than at 9.3, which i only got the smaller 3-point Fulda and Maginot. You're right that I have no clue what the matchmaker is doing at top tier considering the largest maps i get is Fields of Poland or European Province at best.
It really does suck like whats the point of all this fancy rangefinders with long ranges compared to Concidence Rangefinders (I know laser ones auto-set the zero thats besides the point) and hi velocity rounds and armor if youre like 2 updates away from probably fighting in Ash River/White Rock Fortress in a Leopard 2
I really wish they would update tank sights in war thunder, specifically the abrams which has so much wrong with it. FCS is probably the next big thing they will probably add to top tier. I also hope NATO mbts finally get the spall protection they have irl.
FCS would be the nail in the coffin for top tier. When leading shots, elevation, and aim in general are no longer factors (btw many modern FCS can target helis with reasonable accuracy btw) this basically kills the idea of "skill" at top tier. It's already garbage don't make it worse. Fix the game don't add features.

@@thechewyyoda except imo radar gun sights wouldn't effect air RB much at all. In the past when the T2 and F1 had their sights, they honesty were more distracting than useful and most people in my own experience and from others testimony, perfered to just not use it. RB is already flexible enough with all aspect missiles, if you die to a radar gun sight, unless your in an active dogfight, your just not paying good enough attention. In Sim however, oh boy, I'd love it. But only they use the actual hud funnel not the RBs markings like in the past
And before people say, even when you DID have a radar lock due to a higher alt fight, it still wasn't preferable due to an enemy's slight maneuver throws the sight completely. It really wouldn't only be useful for either unskilled defensive pilots making already easy shots just easier, or long, slow, length dogfights where energy is low and effective janks are difficult to pull.
@@thechewyyoda Well put I'd like to point out that aside from balance FCS would also detract from the players experience and further remove player agency from the game. These are features that would do far more harm than good.
@@cullenkelley4828 they could mitigate it by making another thing more accurate- tank sights from the gunner's sight rather than from the front of the barrel. The game gets more accurate and still requires still. also would buff the currently lackluster armor meta
I don't know but it seems that high tier ground RB always has the smallest maps, while tier 2 tractors are fighting on the largest maps. ( I think this is just a misconception or illusion caused by realtive map size compared to optimal combat range, but still.. )
Gaijin clearly knows they need to scale the airport size and distance, why don't they also adjust the map size according to BR range? Driving a Churchill on red desert is just a huge pain, while top MBTs somehow need to stick the gun barrels into their enemy's body before firing.

The radar is extremely helpful pre-thermals, and will often give an indication of a tank behind light brush but hard to see otherwise

would be pretty fun to watch you play the Object 120, aka. the SU-152 Taran, if you own it that is. its 152mm turreted gun with 10s autoloader and HE that does quite a bit of damage is pretty darn good

If you radar lock you don't need to look at the target anymore, and can line up a second shot on a different enemy
Like a few features in-game, the ground radar on this vehicle is most useful in sim and especially against helicopters.

Don't let the -5° gun depression deceive you. The sight has more depression and the missile guides to the circle, not the crosshair so you can get even more depression on top of that.
And if you really want you can switch the sight to be on the launcher you can do it by switching to weapon 1. Downside being that you can't switch back and can't manually guide the second missile, basically halving your ammo count unless you can lock on with the radar for the 2nd missile.

In the video he once shoots using more than 5 degrees of depression and the missile goes sky high and turns too slowly to get on target. Around the 3 minute mark
@@patrykK1028 that's pretty obviously a bug? Those other shots before were normal. But still, ofcourse no matter what you do, the missile will launch from higher up than the sight because the launcher is higher up, and if you use more depression the effect will be even more noticeable but is no problem at 500 or more meters.

This is one of my favorite vehicles in the game, the radar for ground is basically useless, it picks up friendly's enemies and all dead tanks. Radar is good for through smoke, but if you don't have a clear path, it doesn't matter anyways.
It used to be a lot more powerful, as far as I can tell, it used to be able to lock helicopters up to 8km, though for some reason I am having issues doing so unless they are under 2km.
Also, the radar follows your sight picture if zoomed in, and will lock to the target nearest to your crosshairs, so again, use sparingly. Same thing with third person.
You can actually shoot the atgm behind cover by using manual primary weapon control (so instead of using the commander/gunner optics, you're gonna use the tube/launcher optics), but you can only do it with the first atgm for when the second one gets out from the tube, the tube itself reloads automatically thus resetting your aim/optics to the default position

Hey Spookston can you try out the Type 60 SPRG in the Japanese tank tree? (the one before the god awful missle carrier) I find it a ton of fun to play along with the Type 61 as it's quite small and fast which makes sneaking around a lot of fun!

Suggestion: play the M56 Scorpion. It zips around, is super fragile, and hits hard. It easily one of my favorite tanks
@3:06 you fired before the launcher was on target lmao it happens often. thats why the missles went nuts. Also, the ground radar loses lock all the time for no reason

You can get extra gun depression by using the hydropneumatic suspension or by setting your firing range thingy to the max. It will let your missile go down because it is linked to your sight not launcher

The BMP-3 chassis has adjustable suspension so you can lower the front tracks and enable more gun depression

The sight arrangement is really weird, but actually great once you get used to it. Since your sight is separate from the launcher, not only does it have more depression, meaning you can shoot upwards and lead it back down, but it also means that you can control the missile while reloading.
Spookston, I want you to play a game you actually enjoy and love. I want to hear passion in your voice.

It’s so bizarre, under any other circumstance, I would be calling for this vehicle to be shoved up a whole BR or more.
But it’s so situational it’s honestly no better than the M901, despite the 11.0-worthy missiles. And the radar’s just a fancy gadget that helps like once every ten matches, by the looks of things.

Honestly, I like urban or part urban/part open maps (which are my favorite type of maps) but that might just be because I still have WW2 era stuff with no thermals, rangefinders (or at least basic ones), high velocity munitions or atgms where they're probably used best on open and clear ground so high tier players might think otherwise.

I swear the game knows what you are trying to do or grind and actively works against you. Like when you are trying to grind for night vision it gives you night battles, want to play aa? It gives you city maps.

i noticed that before, i think the game gives way more city maps for soviet vehicles because they dont have gun pression and they would suck in other maps and not sell that many premiums
No Dat doesn't happen, the map choosing is random, but spooks ton might have had some Batles in open maps so game gave him small maps, wich are perfect for soviet vehicles, except atgm launchers

As someone who uses this tank too: it is best playable on open maps with flat cover, so you can chill behimd it and kill the enemys because they cant hide properly, another thing: put some pushes on top and hide under a tree (if your cover has that) then planes wont see you bc they lowkey stupid

Will you mention Spikes LR and Brimstone in that video? Both are kinda inevitable (half of the West is using Spikes in their IFVs, and the Tornado will come sooner than later), so they deserve to be mentioned.
Spikes are really feared by the community, too much I think - it would essentially be a land launched PARS 3.
Brimstones on the other hand are not mentioned at all for some reason. If they get added, they'll be the most broken weapon system this game has ever seen. You can spawn, fire all three from one pod, go to base to replenish them, take off, fire and so on. Every missile has a radar, so it can find its target by itself. It's also smart enough to communicate with other two from the pod to avoid hitting the same target as well as it can rank targets and choose the most important ones to hit (SPAA for example). So it would clearly wreak havoc in land battles.
To be fair the problem is more about the code. Even the TV-guided maverick uses the logic of seeking for "heat", where the game determines the vehicle activity as some kind of "temperature", making smart missiles is I guess a bit hard, same goes for the brimstone

If the radar let you do an overhead shot, then it may be more useful but can’t really see the point if most situations if the radar sees the target you can too
Because the radar is meant to give to the misile the F&F capeability apart from spoting targets

This thing uses the chassis of MT-LB (light armored personnel carrier), not the one from BMP-3. It is actually has even lighter armor
You mean the Sthurm-S. The Chriszantema uses the BMP-3 chassis.
