Great video. This is all part of pretty much every long trip on antique bikes. You put in the work frantically right before the trip and the trip itself is the reward for your frantic wrenching. There's no better feeling than when you tear down every part of your bike and you know it front to back. You know when you can trust it and you know before it's about to take a shit on you most of the time. Wrench. Ride. Repeat.
Great videos guys! Just started watching not long ago and working my way backwards from newest. 24 min in to this one blue mentions having a dream about being hit on the way back from born free. If I'm not mistaken that actually happens.. wild!
I know what it's like to get a bike ready on short notice. Hopefully, no serious mechanical gremlins came your way -- riding down and back. Ride safe, guys!
I was watching your primary chain bounce around while you first started the bike and figured that would cause some strain on the trans and sure enough @17:00
It was an experience bumping into you guys along the coast. You’re just like in the videos (who would have thought?). Hopefully the bikes all made it after the issues! I know we made to Morro Bay that night and you guys had further to go! (prism?). That was some cold conditions and we are from Canada!
I thought I seen the clutch hub wobbling around earlier in the video. That loose primary chain slapping around like that gonna be awful hard on them new tranny parts, might even have caused the problem.
...seems you guys suffer from the same thing that a gang that we had here with Brit irons. Let stuff to check or repair for the last minute making the trip kind of a marathon to have all in time for the event... May be my vision is different cause I have used these bikes as daily transportation so I always keep an eye on every part etc and always wrenching to have a decent commute in daily basis
Do you know what....I love old Harley engines, from the 1929 Model JD, through to the '98 Evos,...but I look at all the trouble you have with those ancient Harley-Davidson vee-twin engines and gear-boxes...and I think to myself, (as I do), wouldn't you be better off with a Honda/Yamaha/ Suzuki/Kawasaki vee-twin engine, to take a reliable trip to Born Free, and back again!?....😉...😉...! Take care, all!..P.S I l love my trusty 1985-2012 Honda Rebel parallel twin! Looking forward to the trip!.....😊...😊... Ride safely, there and back again!....😎...😎...!
You know the reliability has crossed my mind. But I think that would be too easy. To me the trials of an old Harley has another level of excitement. You have to be in tune with your bike. Know it like you know your own body. And when it breaks you will hopefully be able to fix it because it’s an extension of you. Also there is a sense of accomplishment that comes with taking an old unreliable pile of parts hundreds of miles, and making it back home! Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate you! Ride safe out there!
I’m sorry guys I’m on the East Coast I have a Evo chopper and I have a 74 sportster I need help and you guys are just too fucking far away I don’t even know what the fuck I say next I need help
Shovel has heart and soul you better believe it 🤘😎☘️👍
Is that a burzum sticker on the oil tank?

I just realized it might be good to have two overkill mufflers on some long straight pipe at the shop so you can diagnose engine noises
Great idea
A lot of work on Blue's bike !!! Hi from France, guys !!!
my dads knee busted up from 40years of kicking shovels, sounds great what a good feeling getting a bike to kick over after a long day of wrenching 👌👏
Watching this video AFTER watching the Born Free movie...you guys foretold what would happen during the trip. Wow!

Brilliant stuff guys... Happy in your work too. 👍😎🇬🇧
Sure sounds like the piston hitting the head on that front cylinder. Love your guys videos!
Or a valve touching the piston

Makes me want to go out and buy a used Ironhead 883 Super Low for goofing around with, in addition to my Sport Glide.

He needed the money!

Watching from Australia
Happy 4th boys
I love it. I'm the guy who lives by the Harley manual. You guys just wing it and it works out. Great video. sub/Likie
nice job dudes!
...also is better to have a rebuilt engine at at least 2000RPM for the firsts 20 minutes to seat right the tappets and camshafts.
I thought I seen the clutch hub wobbling around earlier in the video. That loose primary chain slapping around like that gonna be awful hard on them new tranny parts, might even have caused the problem.
Would love if blue made a a channel I love your videos and you and blue have great chemistry
You should paint the shifter on your bike like a number 2 pencil & name the bike the Ticonderoga
SWEET
do you both work fulltime on these bikes?
where did you guys find that primary cover for the orange shov?
maaaan i wish i was in cali.. so many old harley’s there. aint shit over here on the other side
Always something wrong with them harleys. Still want one tough.
What miles do you expect from a rebuild engine? When will it need a rebuild again?
Where can I find the windshields you use at this born free trip?
What the blue and white wrap called on blues throttle cable?
Cable wrap.
loving it

What size front tire on Blue's shovelhead? 19-3.50 or 19-3.25?
Adj the primary chain!
I still have a question mark why everyone want to use foot clutch and hand shifter ?
Just wondering ..would blues bike run on one cylinder ..make a cap for cylinder . Different intake ..
Put something on the end of that shifter or it will be going into a body part

Always thought both points of view are valid. So now I have a 2019 Yamaha XSR 700 for day to day reliability, and a 67 Triumph for the thrills. 😁
I want to know what long-pant you use in 12:11
👏👏👏👍

Keep the baker trans and throw the rest of the trouble heads away .
Is it legal in the US to ride without a front brake? 🤔
I haven’t heard anything about it being a issue
